Ready Steady Cook

It’s been a busy week in the Food Department!

We hosted an interhouse Ready Steady Cook for the heads of houses and one house member. The pairs had a bag of ingredients that they had to use in thirty minutes; it was great fun and all did extremely well. (Emma Crocker, Head of Food Preparation and Nutrition)

2nd With Fiona Hudson and Emily coming second for Fry House.

The winning dish was produced by Lee Riley and Will for Nansen House.

3rd Gillett and Clark came in joint third place.

Oxfordshire finals of the Co-Op Create and Cook competition.

Lily and Maia got through to the finals for their seasonal and local dish of: Vegetarian Tacos with local oxford cheese and deconstructed Eton mess. The finals were held at Bicester and Banbury College in the catering department; it was a wonderful experience for both budding chefs! (Emma Crocker, Head of Food Preparation and Nutrition)

A big thank you to Will and Charlotte from Hook Norton Veterinary Practice for their lunchtime talk on to students across the school about careers working with animals as a vet, veterinary nurse or technician. They emphasised how important it is to get some experience of working with animals - helping with lambing, working at a stable, cattery or kennels. They also talked about their different routes into become a vet. It was lovely to see how many of our pupils are interested in pursuing a career in this area. (Cath Harding, Head of Science)

Support for Learning - Learner of the Week Henry works consistently hard in his SFL lessons and is a pleasure to teach. Sue Sabin has been particularly impressed with his excellent results in reading and comprehension. Well done Henry!

The pupils in SFL are now very motivated to be awarded Learner of the week and the new award has created quite a buzz in the department (nothing to do with lucky dip the learner gets to pick a goodie from of course!)

After school climbing club Key Stage 3 pupils are welcome to join the climbing club on Thursdays between 4.40 and 5.45. Please contact reception to reserve a place and obtain a consent form. (Verity Redrupp and Linda Phllips)
