Sibford Sports Awards 2019

Our annual Sports Awards event was held at Walton Hall Hotel last Friday to celebrate the sporting commitment, enthusiasm and achievements of our pupils.

The evening started with a red carpet, fruit punch arrival in the beautiful manor house, followed by a three-course meal, awards presentation and disco in the Courtyard Suite. Many pupils were awarded half or full colours in numerous sports which are based on our core values of teamwork, determination, leadership, progression and excellence. Trophies were also presented for Player of the Year in each sport, Most Improved, Coaching Contribution, Team of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year in both the intermediate and senior age groups. It was a fantastic evening which was enjoyed by all. A and special thanks must go to Reuben, Shae, Phoebe and Eloise for all their help in organising such a lovely event. List of winners below. Relationship and Sex Education (RSE) talk to all parents of pupils in Years 7-13 on Monday 13th May If you would like to attend the talk to parents in our Library at 4.30pm until 5.15pm, delivered by Lynette from ‘Bigtalk’ please let Caroline Cartwright know ccartwright@sibfordschool.co.uk Lynette will go through what has been discussed with our pupils during the sessions held during the school day and will be able to answer any questions you may have.

Examinations A level and GCSE written examinations begin next week. All papers must be completed in black ink or biro so please ensure that your child has several! Pencils may be used for diagrams and graphs. Candidates must not use gel pens, correcting pens, fluid or tape.

Candidates are responsible for providing all their equipment (pens, pencils, rulers, erasers) which must all be in a see-through clear pencil case.

Where calculators are allowed, they must be of a suitable size, battery or solar powered and be free of lids, cases or covers. Candidates are responsible for ensuring their calculator works correctly.

Please ensure that your child has a clear water bottle and a supply of healthy snacks to boost their energy levels before examinations. If you have any queries about the external examinations, please contact me.

Biology Cake Sale!

The photo below was taken at the Year 12 Biology cake Sale in aid of The Galapagos Islands charity, raising money to stop shark finning. Pupils made biology themed cakes and sold them at break time on Wednesday and Thursday raising over £100.

Support for Learning - parent conversation afternoons.

Parent conversation afternoons take place on Friday afternoons and are an opportunity for parents/carers to make an appointment to see thier child’s SFL teacher(s) for a 15minute discussion about your child’s progress and any concerns you may have.

SAVE THE DATE – ANNUAL OPEN DAY ON JUNE 15!

Please save the date for our annual open day on June 15. This is a compulsory school day for all pupils and families are encouraged to join and experience the wide array of presentations and displays put on by pupils, staff and parents. More details to follow.
