Rationale Great Britain is a very ethnically diverse nation. This flag celebrates this aspect of Britain and stands for strength through equality.

The previous line widths of the Union Jack have been standardised to represent equality and the lines build on each other rather than one being dominant and the other recessive. The green has been introduced to represent Wales.

Rationale Each line of the flag is subtly placed over the last to indicate working together to reinforce the union.

Community The Union Jack’s main role appears during big sporting events. To capitalise on this, the flag has been designed to tessellate with each other to create a large scale, woven pattern.

This pattern can also be used for tourist items and other collectable items.

Potential Variation Although the introduction of the green is relevant to the union between England and Wales. Using blue definitely looks more British and familiar.

As the blue is used for a lot of British and London branding, if it is used without the white lines from the St Andrews Cross then that removes the Scottish influence whilst retaining what is typically British.
