The subject was to design a studio apartment for your own self with minimal use of space and exploring different multifunctional devices. The depiction of same was done by making a scale down model of the room with standard dimenions, minimum clearance and use of various materials.

The project dug further down to the details to be kept in mind while designing the interiors of a place. It included measure drawing a place, doing the space planning and finally garnishing it with colours and materials to finish.

Construction and Fabrication

Kataav is a portable stool made out of 2mm thick aluminium sheet, which can also be made out of polypropylene to enhance the aesthetics. It is comfortable to carry it along as it opens up into a long flat sheet which is easy to fit anywhere. Kataav installs itself well in all sorts of environment either standing out in the space or blending into it.

The task was to design a furniture piece of your own with the use of 2 or more materials and exploring atleast 4 types of joineries. It should be within the dimensions of 450 X 450 X 500 cubic mm and should be able to with stand 85 kgs.

The course allows you to understand the basics of joineries and materials that could be used in a furniture in the most appropriate way. It takes you through the whole process of furniture making and also edifies us a little about form, structure and balance.

Interiors of a108 ambulance

Redesigning the storage unit of the ambulance was the challenge taken up post research and analysis. The new storage unit has a better locking system, has sufficient space for the equipments, is hygienic and easily accessable. It was designed ergonomically and with correct anthropmetric dimensions of the users.

The course emphasized on the basic understanding of form through radii manipulation applied to 2D as well as 3D objects. It also helped us to explicate new ideas and the aesthetic aspects of form by allowing us to integrate 2 forms together. It intrigued us to use different materials and apprehand their properties.

Form and Space

Crayon is designed keeping in mind the beauty of the Briccola wood. The design emphasizes on Briccole and on the way water and little creatures manage to carve it so beautifully. It uses Briccole wood and glass. It has beennamed so because the form of it resembles that of a pencil which is ‘crayon’ in French. It has a unique rough look to it.
