TJ Vickers – Proudly Supporting Football in Shropshire

We are especially honoured to sponsor the TJ Vickers Premier Cup – a competition that shines a light on the talent, commitment, and community spirit at the grassroots level of the game. Beyond the pitch, we’ve also been privileged to contribute to the many charitable initiatives run by the Shropshire FA, reflecting values we hold dear as a family-run local business.

As football continues to bring people together, we look forward to building on our relationship with the Shropshire FA and doing our part to support and grow the game at the grassroots level. We thank everyone involved in Shropshire football – the players, volunteers, officials, and fans – for making it such a special community to be part of.

Here’s to another exciting season!

Whitchurch Alport

Whitchurch Alport FC History

Formed in 1946, Whitchurch Alport FC took its name from the nearby Alport Farm, which was the home of local footballer, Coley Maddox, who lost his life during WWII. Alport started out in the Shrewsbury& District League, winning the title two years after their formation. The club spent a year in the Birmingham League before becoming one of the founder members of the Mid Cheshire League in 1948. Alport enjoyed various Cup successes in the 1950’s and 60’s, reaching numerous Cup finals – one of which saw the club contest the Welsh Amateur Cup Final against Chirk AAA in front of 5,000 spectators at the Racecourse Ground, home of Wrexham FC In the 1969-70 campaign, Alport became the first Club to take the Mid-Cheshire League Championship outside of Cheshire, whilst also winning the Shropshire County Cup. 1973/74 saw the club achieve its highest honour to date, by defeating Cardiff College 2-1 to become the first English side ever to win the Welsh Amateur Cup, under the stewardship of the late Eddie Morris.

In 2009, Alport won the Shropshire County Cup at Shrewsbury Town’s stadium with a 1-0 win over Wellington Amateurs. Just four years later, in 2013, Alport resigned from the Cheshire League and joined the Shropshire Mercian League, until 2015, when Alport grasped the opportunity to apply for North West Counties Football League status.

On September 10th 2016, Alport competed in the FA Vase for the first time, losing narrowly after extra time at home to Wellington FC. The following season saw Alport reach the Division 1 promotion play-offs, where a 1-0 victory over Cammell Laird in the final, in front of a new record crowd of 733, sent Whitchurch Alport to step 5, for the first time in the clubs history.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

HARRY BOWER:

JACK SHEWARD:

‘Jacko’ has played a key role this season as the club broke it’s clean sheet record at Step 5. Jack is no stranger to Telford Utd, having come through their Youth System, prior to joining Alport in 2023. At the age of just 21, Jack will make his 90th appearance for the club tonight.

With 17 goals, Harry finished the clubs top scorer for 2024/25. Among those was a goal of the season contender away at North Shields in the FA Vase, which sent Alport through to the quarter finals.

CRAIG PRITCHARD:

Dubbed the ‘Welsh Messi’, skipper Pritch reached 50 appearances for the club in the final league game of the season. The Alport faithful will be hoping Pritch lifts his first piece of silverware as club captain this evening.

Allscott Heath

Allscott Heath FC History

Allscott Heath were formed as Atlas in 2006, joining the Telford Combination League mainly setup for work colleagues for the MoD IT consortium ‘Atlas’. The team were never really in a position to challenge in the league, finishing second from bottom in their first season, before improving to finish in seventh then sixth place in the next two seasons. The 2009/10 season saw them improve further, finishing in second place in the league behind "The Warren", gaining promotion to the Shropshire County Football League Division One. Despite the step up in standard, Allscott finished the 2010/11 season in 5th place in Division One.

Ahead of the second season, the club changed their name to Allscott AFC after moving to play at the newly constructed Allscott Sports and Social Club. The change in name freshened up the club, attracting a higher calibre of players and they finished as the 2011/12 league champions on 71 points, eight points clear of second placed Weston Rhyn. Allscott did not get the opportunity to try their hand in the Premier Division as the Shropshire County League was dissolved in May 2012 with all member clubs transferred to a new, larger Mercian Regional Football League for the 2012/13 season.

Due to their success, Allscott were placed in the Premier Division of the Mercian League, finishing in 9th place in their debut 2012/13 season. The following season saw the team struggle, finishing in 12th place in the table just two points off bottom place. There was no relegation this season though due to the folding of Ketley Town.

The 2014/15 season saw a vast improvement, with the team finishing in third place in the league table, a point behind runners up FC Hodnet but 14 points off champions Telford Juniors.

They also won the Shropshire Challenge Cup with a 2-1 victory over Ketley Bank United in the final.

Another good season was to follow in 2015/16, improving once again to finish as runners up in the league, six points behind FC Oswestry Town. This was enough though for Allscott to gain promotion to the West Midlands (Regional) League. They joined the league in Division Two, and finished in third place, ten points behind champions Telford Juniors. This was enough though for another promotion to Division One.

The team surprised everybody though by not only surviving in the higher league in the 2017/18 season but finishing in 9th position in the table. They repeated this feat once again in the 2018/19 season, with the team once again finishing in 9th place in the table

The 2019/20 season saw Allscott change their name once more, becoming Allscott Heath FC. The newly renamed club won 10 of the 22 games that they played, with the club on target for a top three finish. However due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the league was halted with the season declared null and void. The same thing happened in the 2020/21 season, despite Allscott Heath winning five of the six game that they played. Upon the resumption of football, Allscott Heath struggled as the fallout from Covid saw a number of staff and players fall out of love with the game and leave the club. The team finished rock bottom of the table in the 2021/22 season, winning just four of their 30 games and conceding 100 goals. Fortunately for them they were handed a reprieve to stay in the division.

The club then appointed Steve Rogers & assistant Stu Corns to take over the helm, and in their first season the team won the league by 7 clear points with one less game played due to fixture congestion. This saw the club gain promotion to Step 6 in the pyramid to the Midlands League.
