CLUB BIO

Wem Town Football Club has been part of the fabric of our market town for well over a century. Founded in 1883, the club has spent its long life rooted in the same place — serving generations of players, families, and supporters in Wem and the surrounding villages. Today, Wem Town FC is unrecognisable from a club that once fielded just a single senior side. We now play in the Premier Division of the Shropshire County League, with the Butler Sports Centre as our home, and the club has grown into a true community football club — with a thriving junior section running from our youngest age groups upwards, a men's pathway, a veterans team, and a women's team on the way. Two volunteer-built infrastructure projects — our clubhouse and burger bar — stand as a testament to what this community can achieve when it pulls together.

Under the leadership of the committee, and powered by a remarkable group of volunteers, coaches, and parents, the club continues to grow season by season.

From 1883 to today, the badge has meant the same thing: pride in our town, opportunity for our players, and a place for everyone who loves the game.

Manager’s Message:

Today is a special day for our club. As our U18s take to the pitch in this cup final, they carry with them not just the hopes of their teammates and coaches, but the pride of everyone connected to Wem Town FC. This club has grown enormously in recent years across our junior section, men's pathway, veterans, and soon a women's team — and moments like today remind us why it all matters. It's about community, belonging, and giving young people something to be proud of. Whatever happens over the next 90 minutes, we're proud of every one of you Up the Wemians!

CLUB BIO

Shrewsbury Up & Comers Football Club was established in 1973 as a grassroots football club offering children in the local area an opportunity to play football and now proudly holds a 3 star accreditation as a Chartered Standard Development club.

Alongside our creche (age 4 to 8 years), our junior team setup, and our open age football for both male and females, we have recently affiliated a walking football team and started SEND sessions on a Saturday morning. With 54 teams affiliated over 700 players and 200 volunteers, Shrewsbury Up and Comers is the largest grassroots football club in the area.

The clubs biggest achievement was winning a Kings Award for Voluntary service in 2024, being the first football club in Shropshire to win this prestigious award.

CHAIRMAN’S WORDS

First and foremost, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to AFC Telford United’s Seah Stadium.

It is a pleasure to welcome the players, along with today’s match officials and supporters, as we come together to celebrate the fantastic achievement of reaching this cup final.

A special thank you must go to our match officials. Their appointments to today’s final are a testament to their dedication, professionalism and hard work throughout the season.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to all clubs and leagues for their continued support during the 2025/26 season. Your contribution plays a vital role in the ongoing growth and success of grassroots football across Shropshire.

Finally, I would like to recognise the staff and volunteers working tirelessly behind the scenes. Their efforts ensure the smooth running of our competitions and the successful organisation of occasions such as today

I would like to wish both teams the very best of luck. Regardless of the result, today represents a wonderful celebration of football and a fitting way to conclude the 2025/26 campaign.

Enjoy the game.
