CLUB BIO
Wrockwardine Wood Juniors Football Club was founded in 1890 by members of the local mining community. Just two years later, the club secured the ground it still proudly calls home today, before joining the Shropshire County League in 1894.
The club has enjoyed many highlights over the years, including a famous FA Cup victory over Coventry City. Its most successful period came in the late 1960s, winning the West Midlands League First Division title twice.
In 2009, the club expanded significantly through closer ties with its junior section, growing to 15 youth teams and strengthening its future.
January 2022 marked a sad chapter with the passing of long-serving Chairman Brian Neville. Over 30 years, he guided the club through many successes and left a lasting legacy.
Today, Wrockwardine Wood Juniors remains a proud, community-focused club with a rich history and a strong future ahead.

Dawley Town FC, based in Dawley, is a proud grassroots club representing its local community.
Formed from the foundations of Telford Juniors FC, the club has quickly established itself as a competitive and united side in local football.
Known as “The Jockeys”, Dawley Town has built a strong identity around teamwork and commitment, reflected in their club motto: “Togetherness is key.” A standout achievement in the club’s journey is completing an entire season unbeaten, showcasing their quality and consistency on the pitch.
With a focus on community, development, and success, Dawley Town FC continues to grow as a respected name in local football.

Development have enjoyed an impressive cup run to reach the final of the SFA Saturday Challenge Cup.
They received a bye in Round 1 before opening their campaign in Round 2 with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Telford Town FC Development. In Round 3, they continued their strong form, edging past Telford Town FC Reserves 3–2 in another competitive encounter.
The quarter-final saw a commanding performance as they secured a 3–0 win against Bishops Castle Town First, booking their place in the semi-final.
There, they produced another determined display to overcome Gobowen Celtic FC First 2–1, sealing their spot in the final.

First and foremost, I would like to extend a very warm welcome to AFC Telford United’s Seah Stadium for the 2025/2026 Shropshire Saturday Challenge Cup.
It is a pleasure to welcome the players of Wrockwardine Wood Juniors Development and Dawley Town FC, along with today’s match officials and supporters, as we come together to celebrate the fantastic achievement of reaching this cup final.
A special thank you must go to our match officials. Their appointments to today’s final are a testament to their dedication, professionalism and hard work throughout the season.
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to all clubs and leagues for their continued support during the 2025/26 season. Your contribution plays a vital role in the ongoing growth and success of grassroots football across Shropshire.
