Dawley Town were formerly Telford juniors fc . Telford juniors were formed in 1970 ,as an amalgamation of 2 boys clubs ( Lancaster swifts and pool hill united) from Dawley. When players from both teams became to old to play in the under 14s league which was the only junior league at that time. They merged together to form Telford juniors fc to go into the newly formed Oakengates u16s league. The name Telford juniors was chosen because at that time there were quite a few Dawley named teams, and Telford was the new in thing with Wellington Town changing their name to Telford united as well .
