Period Project Launch Event

Shropshire FA have recently announced their new period poverty project supported by Davies Sports and TJ Vickers. This provides U12 female teams competing in The Shropshire Girls Football League, The Shropshire FA Women’s Super League and The Shropshire FA Post 16 Colleges and Sixth Forms League with a pack containing sanitary products and disposable bags.

The bags and products kindly supplied by businesses Davies Sports and TJ Vickers have been designed to easily fit into a coaches bag or first aid kit. The aim of this project is to reduce the barriers to participation for female players through ensuring they have sanitary products accessible to them throughout the season to allow them to feel confident and comfortable when playing football.

Period Project Launch Event

28.01.2024

The Shropshire FA hosted a launch event for this project on the 28th January 2024 to celebrate and promote this event across the County. Here teams eligible for a pack were provided with free tickets to the Wolves Women V Stoke Ladies league game played at the New Bucks Head. Teams were then invited to collect their pack from Shropshire FA Chairman Dave Simpson, Shropshire FA President David Rowe and Matt Burton from Davies Sports. After the game the Wolves Women players took the time to meet the young players while taking photos and signing autographs.

This event was captured by media students from Telford College who photographed and videographed the event and have produced a short film which can now be used as part of their assignments and professional portfolios.

Distribution of the Packs

Since the event, teams who couldn't attend the event have been contacted to arrange collection of their packs from the Shropshire FA offices. Alongside this Shropshire FA staff members have travelled across the County when attending different events and meetings to hand out packs where possible to ensure female players could gain access to these products as soon as possible to support their playing journeys.
