PLAY SAFE WEEKEND

On Friday 13th September Shropshire FA held their annual Grassroots Awards Evening. This evening is held so we can give back to the people who go above and beyond for grassroots football in the county. It’s a prestigious event where everyone comes together to support football in the community no matter who you are.

We as a county couldn't do grassroots football with out people like yourselves who give up their time weekly to coach, spectate, referee or do welfare checks. So as an FA we really enjoy putting on this event to give back to those who really make a difference in football.

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our sponsors and directors who sponsored the awards and thank you to those who presented the awards.

If you would like to access the Photos from the night please click here

Women's Walking Football Festival:

Men's Walking Football Fixtures: penultimate round of fixtures in the Shropshire FA Walking Football League, another competitive round of games despite the torrential downpour in the middle! This round of fixtures was made extra special by volunteers from the British Heart Foundation and also the manager of the Shrewsbury British Heart Foundation Store visiting the players and having a chat before the games and during the fixtures Leaflets were given out to teams, and it was great for us at Shropshire FA to invite British Heart Foundation to our events as part of our long-term collaboration.

Shropshire FA hosted their first Women's Walking Football Festival at Shrewsbury Town Foundation on Saturday 21st September. The session was full of new skills and shared enjoyment for the game. We will be hosting more sessions like this and if you are interested in attending please sign up using the following link: https://forms.office.com/e/zbM88kGGD0

PARTNERSHIP

WITH BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION TO HELP FUND LIFESAVING RESEARCH!

“With heart and circulatory diseases killing one in four people in the UK, it’s inspiring to know that our fundraising could make a real impact for such an important cause.”

Zoe Roberts, Fundraising Manager for Black Country, Shropshire and Staffordshire at the British Heart Foundation (BHF) said: “We are honoured that Shropshire FA have chosen to support the British Heart Foundation and help fund the scientific breakthroughs of tomorrow.

“For more than 60 years, the British Heart Foundation has funded research that has turned ideas that once seemed like 'science fiction' into treatments and cures that save lives every day But millions of people are still waiting for the next breakthrough

“It is only thanks to the generous support of organisations like Shropshire FA that we can keep research going and discover the treatments and cures of the future.”

Not everyone has the same opportunities when it comes to developing life skills that can help secure a job, or support career growth. England Football Learning and Chase, as the Official Banking Partner of England Football Learning, want to help change that, by harnessing the power of football to help individuals develop transferable skills that can unlock their potential, on the pitch and beyond.

Chase fully funded places have been created to provide funding opportunities for coaches who would benefit from financial support towards completing either the Introduction to Coaching Football, UEFA B Licence or UEFA A Licence.

The programme is aligned to our wider goal of helping to increase participation within the game, as well as Chase’s ongoing investment in community-based programmes. By fostering diversity and inclusion within our coaching workforce we aim to:

Increase participation: Inspiring individuals from all backgrounds
