non-executive director the role The Non-Executive Health and Well-Being Director will act as an ambassador for Shropshire FA and act as a custodian of the highest standards of integrity and governance. The Health & Wellbeing Director will be responsible for promoting and championing health and wellbeing initiatives that will benefit the Board of Directors, staff and the football family across the Shropshire FA. They will required to form a strong relationship with the CEO, providing support and acting as a sounding board on all health and well-being matters. Role purpose(s): Collectively, the Board of Directors of Shropshire CountyFA (SCFA) are requiredto direct the business affairs of the Association and to determine the vision, strategy, plans, policies and financial investment required to achieve the Association’s aims. As such, individually and collectively, the Directors are accountable to the Membership. To be an advocate for good health & wellbeing, in and through football, on the Board of Directors. To promote and champion health & wellbeing initiatives that will benefit Board, Members, Staff and the football family across the Amateur FA. To establish new relationships with non-traditional partners in the fields of health & wellbeing. To review and recommend current and future strategic resourcing, training and development and annual budgets and plans to the Board.

Location:

Shropshire FA, The West Stand, The New Bucks Head, Haybridge Road, Telford, TF1 2TU. Homeworking is permitted where agreed and travel to locations across the County will be required.

Estimated time commitment to fulfill the role:

This role is for an initialthree-year term of office. The post requires a commitment to attend a minimum of six (6) bi-monthly Board meetings a year.

Remuneration and Expenses:

This is a voluntary role. Reasonable out of pocket expenses will be paid in line with the current Shropshire FA’s expenses policy.


non-executive director Responsibilities: General: Serve as a Director of Shropshire FA and to actively participate in its strategic management. Execute the responsibilities of a Company Director in accordance with the Companies Act (2006) and other relevant legislation. Safeguard the interests of the membership and stakeholders of the Association. Establish clear objectives to deliver the agreed strategy and business plan and regularly review performance against those objectives. Ensure the effective implementation of Board decisions by the CEO and staff, holding the CEO to account for the effective management and delivery of the Association’s strategic aims and objectives. Jointly oversee the management of risk to the Association. Develop and maintain an effective corporate governance structure. Monitor the financial affairs of the Association and ensure the effective use of [Association] finances. Promote equality of opportunity throughout the Association. Represent the Association to partners and stakeholders of the Association in a professional manner. Act with discretion in respect of sensitive, confidential, or commercial information provided to you in this role. Contribute to constructive debate on all Board matters. Promote equality of opportunity throughout the Association and its membership. Fully participate in Board induction, training or development and performance monitoring. Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Board. Health & Wellbeing: Lead the creation of a health& wellbeing strategy for Shropshire FA. To oversee and develop innovative solutions to improve the physical and mental health of those involved in football in Shropshire. Oversee the proposals to Board of both performance and amendments to the Shropshire FA People Plan Ensure the views and the voice of the team are always heard. To engage effectively with stakeholders including leagues, clubsand participants to support the delivery of health & wellbeing initiatives. To identify, facilitate and develop relationships with non-traditional delivery partners

Person Specification: Qualifications: Essential: Accredited mental health related qualification.

Desirable: Degree-level qualification in relation to health & wellbeing.

Skills: Essential: Proven experience as a Director of Health and Wellbeing or similar role. This will include working within an employee engagement role. In-depth knowledge of Health and Wellbeing with the ability to incorporate the wellbeing of the team into a holistic people plan that meets the needs of Shropshire FA and the individual. The appropriate use of knowledge and experience to make informed decisions to the benefit of the organisation. Experience of leading health & wellbeing strategies. Experience of implementing workplace health & wellbeing improvement initiatives. Experience of partnership working to improve the health & wellbeing of under-represented groups The ability to debate, discuss and challenge in a constructive manner. Excellent interpersonal skills. The ability to form strong, productive relationships both internally and externally to the benefit of the Association. An ability to understand financial accounts, management accounts and budgeting. Access to and ability to use, email and the internet.

Desirable: A sound understanding of the volunteer/ professional relationship and how this can best work to support the work of the Association. Knowledge and understanding of the Safeguarding Requirements for the Association. Knowledge of the Articles of Association and their application. Up to date and thorough knowledge of Grassroots Football and the role of the Association in its governance. Knowledge of the County FA Governance Code.

An understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

Desirable: Knowledge and understanding of grassroots football and related activities. An understanding of The FA National Game Strategy and how this affects the work of the County Football Associations. Understanding of not for profit organisations.
