Shropshire fa stepping over the sidelines
1st july 2023
On Saturday 1st July 2023 Shropshire FA hosted their first Stepping Over the Sidelines Event at Telford College. This event was run alongside the England Football Learning initiative which saw other County FA's run similar events
The CPD brought together existing female coaches and those looking to start their coaching journey to learn more about coaching principles and characteristics and also provided an opportunity for them to plan and deliver a session.
This event was hosted by Amy Newbold (Women's Football Development Officer Apprentice) and Lisa Jackson (Equal Game Ambassador - Women and Girls Football) with a view to deliver more events like this in the future.
Contact Amy.Newbold@shropshirefa.com or 07719 069876 for more information

ENGLAND WU23 V BELGIUM WU23
YOUNG LIONESSES SET FOR SHREWSBURY
England WU23s will welcome Belgium to the home of Shrewsbury Town on Monday 25 September.
The squad will be led by new coach Emma Coates, after her appointment earlier this year following her time in charge of England WU19s. Before the Belgium match, which kicks off at 7pm, the Young Lionesses will begin the 2023-24 campaign away in Norway on Thursday 21 September.
Tickets for the match at the Croud Meadow are priced at £5 for adults and £1 for concessions (65+ and 18 & under).
The Young Lionesses are no strangers to the Young Flames, with the teams having met twice last season. A 4-1 home win in Tranmere in February was followed by a goalless draw in Genk in April. Among those with senior caps to have featured in the WU23s last season were Katie Robinson, Jess Park, Lucy Parker, Maya Le Tissier and Ebony Salmon.
Tickets for England WU23 v Belgium WU23 at Shrewsbury Town can be purchased via TheFA.com/tickets
DO YOU KNOW A FUTURE LIONESS?
IF YOU CAN SEE IT, SHE CAN BE IT.
#DISCOVERMYTALENT
HAVE YOU GOT AN AMAZING YOUNG FEMALE PLAYER ON YOUR TEAM? HAS SHE GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO GROW FROM GRASSROOTS TO GREATNESS? COULD SHE BECOME A LIONESS OF THE FUTURE?
YES? HERE’S YOUR CHANCE TO REFER A PLAYER AND SHE COULD TAKE HER FIRST STEP ON THE WOMEN’S ENGLAND TALENT PATHWAY. THE REFERRAL WINDOW IS OPEN FROM THE 1 SEPTEMBER TO 30 SEPTEMBER 2023 SO NOW’S THE PERFECT TIME TO ACT. LAST SEASON WE SAW OVER 3500 UNIQUE REFERRALS AND A HOST OF TALENT THAT WE WOULDN’T HAVE DISCOVERED WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT. WE NEED COACHES AND CLUBS, VOLUNTEERS, MATCH OFFICIALS, TEACHERS OR ANYONE ELSE WORKING WITH YOUNG PLAYERS WHO SEE POTENTIAL TO PUT FORWARD YOUR PLAYERS.
WE’RE LOOKING FOR PLAYERS WHO ARE ELIGIBLE TO REPRESENT ENGLAND, WHO ARE BORN BETWEEN 2006 AND 2010, THIS COULD EVEN INCLUDE PLAYERS WHO EXCEL IN OTHER SPORTS WHO MAY HAVE TRANSFERABLE SKILLS! WE WANT TO GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO ACCESS OUR INCLUSIVE AND ACCESSIBLE PATHWAY AND IMPORTANTLY THEY WILL CONTINUE TO PLAY IN THEIR EXISTING ENVIRONMENT, WHEREVER THAT MAY BE.

Floodlight Funding
Funded by the Premier League and delivered by the Football Foundation, the programme will provide grants of up to 70% of the costs associated with installing modern LED floodlight systems or upgrading existing metal halide systems at stadiums across the National League System and Women's Football Pyramid This will help clubs lower both their maintenance and running costs and minimise the impact they have on the environment
Over 45 National League Clubs have already benefitted from Premier League funding for new LED floodlights during the 2022/23 season.
The FA and the Premier League will be joining forces from July 2023 to launch a new Stadium Accreditation Programme for clubs that play in the National League System.
Following an 18-month period of consultation and extensive research with key stakeholders across the game, it has been agreed that from this summer, the Premier League Stadium Fund will begin collecting ground-grading data for The FA at all of the stadiums used within the National League System
The process will be digitised for the first time since the ground-grading process was introduced over 15 years ago through the creation of a new digital tool, StadiumPower.
StadiumPower will enable The FA to have a holistic view of the quality of facilities across the game for the first time and will be better placed to understand some of the challenges that both clubs and leagues face nationwide

wildcats & squad girls
Clubs and schools can now apply ALL YEAR ROUND to offer an FA programme!
What is Wildcats?
Weetabix Wildcats is an offer for every girl aged 5-11, regardless of ability, disability, impairment, or health condition, to try football for the first time in a fun, safe environment.
Sessions take place on a weekly basis, either evenings or at weekends, and are focused on helping girls make friends, have fun and be active through football. All sessions are delivered by FA qualified coaches, providing a safe place for girls to try football for the first time and develop key skills.
What is Squad Girls?
A fantastic follow on from Wildcats, Squad Girls’ is a programme established for girls between the ages of 12-14 and aims to create a fun, relevant and engaging recreational offer that allows them to develop themselves as much as their football skills in a safe, inclusive environment. The programme aims to give choice and voice to the girls who are involved in the sessions. Similarly, to Wildcats, Squad sessions are delivered by qualified coaches in an engaging and flexible format to help boost confidence and develop their social identity.
What is Just Play?
Just Play is recreational football at its best. It’s laid-back, fun, inclusive, have-akickabout football, designed for those aged 16+, for adults, men, women and disabled people.

Climate Action For Shropshire Grassroots Football
Improving sustainability in football is now a key part of the FA’s charter, and so we want our member teams to become advocates for stronger, more sustainable and more modernised grassroots infrastructure across Shropshire by helping member clubs to make informed decisions when it comes to sustainability.
We’re working with Sustainable Leaders in Sport (SLiS) to provide you with accessible support and resources.
SLiS is an online, user-friendly sustainability support initiative tailored to grassroots sports.
Clubs can use the tool to set some simple goals for the next 12 months, access templates and resources, and benefit from optional 1-2-1’s for additional support with matters such as calculating your carbon footprint.
SLiS covers a variety of areas, but transport, purchasing, and resource consumption are likely to be the areas with the most easy wins.
Climate Action For Shropshire Grassroots Football
Andy Weston, Acting CEO stated ‘ We are delighted to be partnering with SLIS to offer our members this unique opportunity to benefit from expert advice on sustainability. As energy prices are soaring, it is important that we can provide money saving ideas, whilst also doing our bit to help the planet and protect the future generations’
Costs are based on the number of teams per club, starting at £30 per year.
Let’s get started and set an example for generations to come.
