By Kat Rose This book is dedicated to the lovely family I met on the train from Leeds to Skipton who inspired this story.


It’s rush hour. I forgot it would be this busy.


I squeeze my way into the carriage.

There’s a mother with two children.


She looks at them sweetly.


Yakul is in the pram.

Lulu is toddling around the carriage.


They both have unicorn lollipops.


Their cheeks are red... ... and their hands are sticky.


Out of nowhere...

“I want Lulu’s lollipop!” shouts Yakul.


Mum asks, “Lulu can you swap with Yakul?”

“No! It’s mine!” she replies.


Mum thinks of a cunning plan...

... she takes Yakul’s lollipop...


... and puts it in his lunchbox in the pram.


She asks Lulu again, “Can you swap with Yakul?”

Mum whispers to Lulu to pretend to agree...

... and takes Yakul’s lollipop back out the lunchbox!


“Here you go.” Mum says.

He’s happy and doesn’t notice a thing!


“Phew!” Mum sighs.


The kids both smile and lick their lollipops, their cheeks even stickier and pinker!


It was time for them to get off the train.


It’s these moments in life that make me smile...

... and I’ll always remember, Lulu & Yakul.
