4. RECLAIMING FORGOTTEN IDENTITIES To reconnect landscapes & neighborhoods University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign Group work - Spring 2021

Location - Barcelona, Ripollet Project Goals : To recover and reveal forgotten landscape and urban values already in place, social cohesionand environmental qualities with human centred tactics. Designing underterminate and reclaimed public spaces with architectural and landscape toolsthroughout scales: restoring ecological and emotional bonds with the water, the remnants ofagricultural landscape and the industrial architectural heritage of the neighborhood. Design Process: The design process will go from the larger scale of the ‘landscape strategy’ to the intermediate scale of the ‘landscape-urban project’ and the detail of an ‘urban architecture’ or a ‘public space project.’ Designing with an environmental and social focus, at a human scale: bringing back street dynamics to obsolete roads withslow mobility and new activities and scenarios promoting neighbor’s appropriation and social inclusion of vulnerable groups.

“ADDING POROSITY” - By bridging public and private spaces

Urban porosity could be seen as the ability to accommodate public spaces, uses and flows that affect. A territory beyond the boundary itself. Making the city by creating fluid itineraries that can Accommodate different kinds of mobility is a priority. Porous space thus transgresses the boundaries Between public and private spaces.
