Minutes of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission Advisory Board August 21, 2024 Members Present: Doyle Adams, Chairman Clay Bohanan, City of Bossier Stacy Brown, Visit Shreveport-Bossier Jeff Free, City of Bossier Shantel Hardison, Caddo Parish Commission Shaun Houston, City of Shreveport Patrick Wesley, City of Shreveport Stormy Gage-Watts, Caddo Parish Commission Not Present: Bob Brotherton, Bossier Parish Police Jury Guest / Staff Present: Sara Aymond-Nelms Aaron Bronson Cicely Parson Charlie Rice Call to Order The regularly scheduled meeting of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission (SBSC) Advisory Board was held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Hilton Shreveport at 104 Market Street, Shreveport, LA. Doyle Adams, Chairman, called the meeting at 8:12 a.m. A quorum was present.

Agenda The agenda of the August 21, 2024, meeting was reviewed. Mr. Bohanan moved to accept the agenda with a motion approved by Mrs. Gage-Watts. All in favor none opposed with no public comment.

Minutes The Minutes of the July 26, 2024, meeting was reviewed. Following review, Mrs. Gage-Watts moved to accept the minutes. Mr. Bohanan seconded the motion. All in favor none opposed with no public comment.

Financial Report Mr. Bronson shared the financials with the board. Mr. Gage-Watts moved to accept the financials. Mr. Bohanan seconded the motion. All in favor none opposed with no public comment.

Events Update/Discussion a. Diamond Youth Baseball World Series – 64 teams participated. Bossier Civic Center was a great venue for opening ceremonies. Working with the National Louisiana director on the opportunity to host the 3-day weekend regional tournament in 2026.

b. The Huddle Up Meeting – August 21, 2024—will provide suggestions on venue booking policies, potential new facilities, and existing facility upgrades to assist with attracting large events to the area. c. LSU/GSU Basketball Game – met with both teams to discuss weekend events, will visit local nonprofits to bring in PR for the event. Parkway High would like to retire Makayla Williams jersey during pre-game. Reaching out to Alumni groups to discuss other events to host around the game.

Upcoming Events a. Adult 40 Mix 3.4, 4.0 Men & Women Tennis Event b. CABOSA Cup – Youth Soccer Tournament c. Battle of the Bags—a fundraiser for local fire responder charities will be held at the 7th Tap Brewery, with live bands and the LSU football game on TV. d. Texas Cornhole League – Signature Series #1 – Sold out Hilton block use all three exhibit halls at the convention center.

Adjournment The next meeting is September 25, 2024, at The Visit Shreveport-Bossier office. With no further business, Mr. Gage-Watts made a motion to adjourn, and Mr. Bohanan seconded, which was voted on and passed with no public comment, the meeting adjourned at 8:35 AM. _______________________________ Doyle Adams, Chairman
