weatherly inn to open in renton

In 1989, Nancy and Larry Bunn opened their first Weatherly Inn location in Tacoma with a goal of creating an environment that felt cozy. As an interior designer, Nancy set out to develop a well-designed facility that was not so obviously senior living. They wanted it to feel like residents were at home.

Now, that feeling will be growing. Scheduled to open in early September for independent living residents, a Renton Weatherly Inn will join Tacoma and Kent. Like other Weatherly Inns, the Renton location will have a strong tie to design.

“The team has worked tirelessly on every detail of the building so that it does not feel institutional,” said Alex Lynn, Director of Marketing. “Even the soap dispensers were selected to reflect the design of your own home.” Weatherly Inn builds communities where grandparents love to live, but also where their grandkids can’t wait to visit.

“We’ve brought in petting zoos — even live reindeer — so that Weatherly Inn remains a place where grandparents can continue to host their family; a place that feels welcoming for our residents and their families,” said Lynn. With a similar layout to the Tacoma location, Renton’s Weatherly Inn will feel comfy in a space that is as close to a home environment as the team can create. Services at the new facility will be roughly the same as Weatherly Inn’s other locations. Members of the leadership team spend at least one day a week in each location because it is important for them to have a strong connection with their residents and staff.

According to Lynn, “We pride ourselves on every level of care. Residents are well cared for, as well as stimulated.” A few months following the initial opening to independent living residents, assisted living and memory care residents will be invited to join the new community as well as potential day and respite care patients.
