Executive Order Or Executive Delay
So by now we have all heard the news of Number 45 Executive Order unless you have been living under a rock,(and in our current economy that could be very possible.) Like everyone else I’m sure you thought about time someone did some thing to help out the American people. Well don’t get to happy yet. Let’s look a little closer at EXACTLY was just signed. More money for the working Americans Executive order #1: Payroll Taxes. Sounds good til you read the fine print. First you have to make less than 100,000 dollars to qualify. For every $1000.00 you make you get
7.65% extra in take home pay that’s, $76.50. Starting September 1 through to the end of the year. If you are self-employed you just pay less in taxes if you don’t file quarterly. Executive Order #2, we all want and need an extension on the eviction ban right. And a eviction ban was extended but look a little closer. The order reads evictions might be halted if the eviction will prevent the spread of Covid. So if your landlord can argue that you have a safe place to go and not be out on the street spreading Covid then they can evict you. I totally expect evictions to sky rocket in the next few months.
Executive Order #3 Unemployment Boost $400.00 a week..... with a twist. The government will provide a $300.00 boost and it is up to your states discretion to pay the $100.00 of that boost according to unemployment qualifications. Which are you have to qualify for at least $100.00 of unemployment before the boost. So if you qualify for $150.00 a week your get the government boost of $300.00 and IF your state has the money or agree to pay the $100.00 you will receive the full $400.00 boost. If you don’t meet the minimum $100.00 a week unemployment qualification then you might not receive any boost at all. Talk about fine print...(Shaking my head emoji). This all is expected to take place by the end of the month and last though to the end of the year.

Authorities Are Cracking Down On COVID-19 Paycheck Protection Program Fraud A Houston man has been arrested after he spent $1.6 million in COVID-19 relief funds on luxury items. According to reports Lee Price III, 29 has been accused of submitting fraudulent applications for the Paycheck Protection Program loans to federal banks and other lenders. Two of the businesses he submitted received funding, one for $900,000 and the other $700,000. He claimed both of the businesses that received funding had numerous employees and a large payroll, when in reality neither business had any employees. Officials
also said a person who was listed as the CEO of 713 Construction had died in April 2020, more than a month before the application was submitted. Once he received the funding he allegedly bought a Lamborghini Uras, a Ford350 pickup, real estate, a Rolex and other luxury items. He also allegedly spent thousands of dollars in Houston strip clubs. Lee Price III was arrested and is charged with making false statements to a financial institution, wire fraud, bank fraud and engaging in unlawful monetary transactions.

“BlackMan in America”
by “Diddy of My City”
Being born a Black male in America is already one strike against you! I’ve lived on this Earth for almost 45 years and I have seen many things! Growing up while in school I read about Jim Crow laws, slavery and lynchings. I’ve even experienced at times discrimination. I’ve been followed, stopped by the police and questioned for no reason. However, never would I have thought that I would witness seeing a police officer put his knee on a man’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Officer Derek Chauvin not once relented or even stopped to check to see if George Floyd was okay. As I watched I actually saw the life slowly leave George Floyd’s body as he called out for help from his mother, was so heart wrenching for me! I felt like what I was witnessing was like watching a movie. There’s no need for me to rehash the incident that led up to George Floyd’s death. However, what I can say is this, being a Black man in America is tough! Each day I do my best to try to provide for my family and do whatever I can to make the community that I live in better. I know I say, “I’m the “Diddy of My City”, but when it comes to being a Black man in America at times I feel like what will tomorrow bring for me? I used to say to my young Black sons that I’m raising, “Make sure if get stopped by the police be respectful and do what they ask so you can make it home alive!” Now I have to say the same things to my daughters. I have to be reminded and I try to remind them to be cautious and respectful when they’re dealing with the police. At the same time, I feel the same thing should be said to those officers when they are going out on their different assignments each day! They should be reminded to be respectful to the communities that they serve and treat those individuals that they are supposed to protect and serve with dignity and respect. No one should have to say they are burying their child or loved one because some “Rouge” officer decided that he or she was judge and jury that day! No, I don’t think that the police should be defended or disbanded, but I do feel that a lot of “Reform” needs to
Page 6
happen! The reason I say this is because I would hate for someone to break into my home and I am unable to call someone to come and protect me or my loved ones from someone who has committed a crime against me. What I am asking is that the small percentage of officers that are doing acts that are against humanity, not just against Black or brown people but against all people be stopped! Again, there needs to be “Reform” and racial sensitivity training with all police departments across America! Again, I am asking that our country look at what has happened not only with George Floyd but also with all of these senseless deaths at the hands of a small percentage of “Rogue”police officers. I am also asking that the people of America take a look at themselves as well and understand that we as a country be respectful to Blue lives, so Blue lives can understand that they not only have to respect Black lives, but Brown lives, White lives and all lives. “ We Are One America,” we should not be divided. We should not have to have protest and destruction of our communities for a change to happen. Until we are on one accord with police “Reform” across America these types of senseless deaths will continue to happen, and it is sad!

K through 3rd graders see their teachers in a co-tech capacity and the specials teachers come in and out of those classes via ZOOM to makes it easier for those young learners to continue their schedule throughout the day. The 4th through 12th grade students switch classes just like they would if they were in school. They have 3 minutes to get to the next class via ZOOM. It has been an awesome experience, and no, I’m not going to say that it’s been perfect, but it has been awesome to see that my children have a schedule to follow each day and to know that they are getting to interact and see their teachers each day. After the first week of virtual learning, the board of ILTexas realized they needed to cut back on the screen time, so they decided that Wednesdays would be used to do attendance, say the pledge and inform stu-
dents if they were missing any assignment. This takes about 5-10 minutes and the rest of the day the students can catch upon work, read or relax. What I want to say to these larger school districts is this, “Stop wasting money on million dollar programs that you buy to only keep for one or two years!” You use all this money trying out programs when the ones you have worked and your employee are just learning how to use them. All that time was wasted because the districts school board members want something new. All of that money that was spent could have been allocated for technology for each
child. We can hope and pray something like this Covid-19 pandemic never happens again, but if we are put in this situation again, we have to prepare ourselves. These school districts need to also stop building these small schools that only lasts for a few years and when the community grows, money has to again be spent to build new schools, instead of being used for technology for all children, not just the elite! As I stated, the International Leadership of Texas was prepared for this pandemic. This pandemic has been a challenge for us all and we as parents and educators are doing or best
to make the BEST of this situation, In addition, yes, I know it is a challenge; I am an educator and a parent so I get it. I will also admit I am not giving good enough teacher appreciation gifts or Christmas gifts to my son›s teachers. I know now that I have to do better! In my 24 years in education, I could have never imagined anything like this happening, but now I know better! Our education system has to do better and reevaluate how they look at technology and being able to access it for learning for all students!
