Director’s Note

Dear Whitetail Club Members,

I’m still smiling as I reminisce back to our Summer Concert as many of us (701 to be exact) celebrated together while we danced to the out-of-this-world Marc Martel and The Ultimate Queen Tribute. As I look at the photos from the last few months, I am reminded again of what a fantastic summer it has been and what an amazing place we all get to call home. The momentum within the real estate & membership departments has remained very strong. This past month we welcomed 9 new families to Whitetail Club, and our new members are reporting back on just how lovely and welcoming the membership has been. Thank you to the entire Whitetail Club membership for your support as we continue to grow our community. Lately, there seem to be some questions surrounding our corkage policies at Whitetail Club. Please refer to page 14 of this issue of the Trailblazer for specifics as the parameters vary between Whitetail Club and Shore Lodge restaurants. If we can provide any clarifications, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Our annual Member’s Only Wine Dinner is still available for September 25th at our lakefront clubhouse, but space is limited. Please get in touch with the concierge today to reserve your seats. This year we’ll be featuring wines from the fabulous Grgich Hills Estate, located in Napa Valley. What a treat this will be. And finally, I encourage you to continue to review the weekly eblasts and monthly newsletters for our Fall hours of operation. Sincerely,

Club Director | 208.630.0216

We know that you’re interested in only the best wine that Napa Valley has to offer, that’s why we rounded up three of our favorite wines from the region so that you can try them for yourself and expand your penchant for wines from the west coast. Check out these three stand-out wines from Napa Valley below and RSVP for the Members Only Wine Dinner where we will feature wines from Grgich Hills Estate—one of the wineries featured here. You’ll indulge in five courses made by the Whitetail Club culinary team that perfectly pair with one of five varietals from this Napa Valley vineyard. Nothing tastes like summer more than smokey and savory meats right off the grill. And while there’s still plenty of time to grill this summer, finding the right techniques to master the BBQ can take a lifetime of dedication. For the quick and easy tips, we’ll leave you with the meat & wine pairings below so you can always have a cheat sheet to glance at before making the perfect pairing. As for the mastery of the grill, we recommend our Grilling 103 class on September 11. This third installment of our BBQ crash course, our chef will teach you all the tips and tricks you need to know to master the Q before summer ends. L E A R N M O R E O N P A G E 7 Salmon – calls for rich white wines or light reds. Rich Chardonnay or a dry Brachetto d’Acqui

What is the secret to a good wine & cheese pairing? The answer to that question lies in the ability to know the underlying flavors of the wine you’re drinking. Thick and sweet wines go well with pungent and crumbly cheeses while a bright and acidic wine will pair better a soft and sweet cheese. Getting familiar with distinguished wines and tasting different varietals is key to becoming a wine pairing master. So, check out our recommended cheese pairings below and expand your palate’s portfolio by exploring the wine list at the clubhouse restaurant. Want to bring your own wine? Check out our corkage policy in this issue’s Take Note section. L E A R N M O R E O N P A G E 14

Real Estate

When looking for your dream vacation home, maintenance isn’t at the top of your wish list. At Whitetail Club, we understand that, and our intent from the start has been to deliver a custom home that offers a world-class mountain and lake view property without the guesswork or prolonged time commitment. Merlin Stark, the architect behind Whitetail Club‘s ‘Northern Lights,’ shares how the modern mountain aspect of this design allows for low maintenance and a home that expresses a sense of timelessness and permanence. “Custom homes at Whitetail Club serve as a sanctuary of privacy and security for buyers that are looking to purchase a second home or for those that are ready to commit to a different lifestyle and are investing in a permanent residence,” says Merlin Stark, Owner at Merlin Stark Planning & Design. “The lifestyle at McCall is conducive to making it a great year-round destination for enjoying the town’s rugged mountains, glacier-carved lakes, and incredible hot springs. With this in mind, we aimed to design a luxury custom home that is not only durable but is also low maintenance.” Read the rest of this blog by visiting WhitetailClub.com/Happenings
