Director’s Note Dear Whitetail Club,

There is no doubt about it; Summer is officially here! If the historic heatwave hitting the western United States isn’t proof of that, the activity and buzz around the Club surely must be. Please refer to your weekly eblasts, monthly newsletter or utilize the recently updated Whitetail Club app when looking for a refresher on hours of operations, programming, and upcoming events. The new Whitetail Club Member App upgrade that went into effect on June 21 has some unique features to allow you to create buddies and view all your reservations on the home screen. The concierge team is enthusiastically reporting back that the “phone is ringing off the hook.” And I love to hear this. The Club Concierge is at your service 7-days a week. Danielle and Jack look forward to hearing from you. Don’t hesitate to reach out if the team can help in any way. We continue to see exciting momentum in our membership department. As our membership grows and the facilities and outlets have increased occupancy, we closely monitor all guest access to protect the Whitetail Club experience for all our members. The Club’s expectations regarding unaccompanied guest access are outlined in the Rules and Regulations. Please remember that all unaccompanied guest access must be preapproved before the guests arrive at any Whitetail Club facility. Feel free to reach out to the concierge department or me directly if you would like to discuss further. E KICK IT INTO HIGH GEAR in July with two family-friendly events the first week of the month: the annual Family Fishing Derby and the 4th of

July BBQ. Both outdoor events are held adjacent to The Fish & Swim Club and geared toward our junior members and families. July 1st will mark the 7th annual Family Fishing Derby. All junior fishermen and fisherwomen will be provided equipment for this catch-and-release competition, and awards will be presented for “First Fish Caught,” “Longest Fish,” “Most Fish Caught,” and “Smallest Fish.” Snacks and cold treats will be provided throughout the competition and during the Award Ceremony. A few days later, on July 4th, members and their guests are invited to celebrate the 4th of July at Whitetail Park for our annual American BBQ and games. Sand volleyball, water balloons, and the rock wall are just some of the fun activities in store for the day. This event is one of the club’s longest traditions, and we encourage all new members to join us this year. Later in the summer, on Saturday, August 7th, round up your family and friends again for our annual Summer Concert. This signature event grows every year and is one of the highlights of the summer. This year Marc Martel will rock the stage with The Ultimate Queen Celebration. Martel’s powerful vocals will magnify as evening turns into nightfall, and we dance and sing together under a starry sky. You must be there to experience the magic.

Tee Time

Summer is here and the weather, spectacular. What a tremendous month June was and it flew by. The Turfgrass team lead by Adam Lott and Nick Korthals have done an amazing job preparing and conditioning the golf course and the greens are awesome! During the last year, we were all looking for opportunities to get outside. This created a tremendous boom for golf. As I have reported in the past, play was up 25% last season, which was awesome. With good there can also be some negative. We have noticed damage and wear on the golf course recently. The number one cause of this damage is cart traffic. To keep our golf course looking great, please pair up and limit the cart usage to two carts per foursome. The Turfgrass team and Golf Staff would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for playing in the weekly events and attending the weekly clinics. Participation has been wonderful. As we head into July’s events, the influx of signups is terrific. The Ladies Member Guest is next week and we have 33 teams scheduled to play—the largest field to date! The first of two 9 & Dine tournaments is Saturday, July 10th. We will tee off at 5pm, play nine holes and have dinner on the 12th tee under the stars. This is always a super popular event so, please sign up as soon as possible as space is limited to 60 players.

The Whitetail Cup Member/Member is the weekend of July 17th & 18th and, currently, has 22 teams. Last year was the first time we held this tournament and the turnout was amazing! RSVP with a partner or sign up as an individual and the golf shop will pair you. It will be a lot of fun and make for friendly competition. On Friday and Saturday, July 23rd & 24th Pedigo E-Bikes will be doing a demo day. This is the same company we had on site in July of 2019. Take one of these electric bikes for a spin and should you want to purchase one, Pedigo will have inventory for you to buy them. For the ladies, we will play the Caddies & Cocktails 12-hole golf event on Thursday, July 29th. I expect a great field of players. Golf starts at 2pm and we will party after golf. I look forward to having you play in this fun event. And although it is still a month away, I’d like to remind you of the Men’s Invitational, scheduled for August 4–7. This will be the largest field ever and it’s so exciting to have so many teams already registered! As always if you have any questions or comments, please contact me. Idahoan Summer Eats Summer is about sharing a lot of things, but at Whitetail Club, great food and drinks is at the top of our list! So, like the true foodies we are, we are talking about all the new flavors to savor this summer both at Whitetail Club and at home!

Savor the Season

The winter harvests of Idaho add plenty of squash, potatoes, and apples to our menus, while the fall season yields lots of heirloom tomatoes, pears, and greens. However, the summer harvests of Idaho boast a wide variety of aromas, flavors, and colors that encourage our culinary team to create never-before-seen recipes. Check out some summery ingredients that inspired our new summer menus at The Clubhouse and Whitetail Burger Co.

Basil This sweet and versatile herb can be found throughout our summer menus. Basil pairs well with sweeter ingredients like lemons, watermelon, coconut, broccoli, and shrimp. When using fresh basil as a raw ingredient in a cocktail or salad, you can get the most flavor out of each leaf by massaging it before use. You can do this by gently rolling the leaves with a rolling pin or clapping the leaves between your hands. When using basil in a cooked dish, be sure to add it at the end of the cooking process to retain the most flavor.

Cucumbers The subtle flavor of cucumber is light and refreshing, perfect for summer salads and drinks alike. In the summer, cucumber makes its way to the menus at The Bar at Shore Lodge for a set of light and breezy cocktails inspired by that mountain-lake breeze we love so much. Cucumbers pair well with crunchy textured vegetables like corn, radishes, peppers, and nuts, and it also works well with tangy, acidic, and spicy flavors like citrus, tomatoes, and chilis.

Grapefruit This bittersweet fruit is an acquired taste for many, but it can create a dynamic burst of flavor that even those averse to grapefruits would enjoy. Pink grapefruits pairs well with milky and very sweet flavors like banana, papaya, coconut, rosemary, and vanilla. This fruit works wonders with citrusy liqueurs, dark rums, and bitter liquors like gin, in cocktails.
