Dear Whitetail Members,
A heartfelt thank you in advance to Jen & Ron Ruff, Sherri & Jim Campbell and Linda & Jim Donerkiel for partnering with us for our 2nd annual fall Progressive Dinner. Similar to last year, this event sold out within just a couple weeks. Our take on a ‘parade of homes,’ we’ll pair tours of these beautiful residences with an exceptional menu prepared by our very own Chef Marcus and resident Sommelier, Taylor Nissen. With transportation provided by Whitetail Club, what’s not to like about this event? I look forward to reporting back on how my favorite fall event went. We are just days away from launching the newly revamped Whitetail Club member website, and we’re just giddy about providing you with the most current online communication. We’re hopeful that you will find this new layout and design to be more user-friendly and easier to navigate. You’ll now be able to stay current on the latest events, receive announcements and information pertinent to your club membership, view videos of past events, communicate with the club staff, and more. If you haven’t already received it, be on the lookout for an email containing your NEW login credentials, along with instructions on how to secure your new password, update your personal information, and select the items you would like viewable on your directory listing and profile page. We’re thrilled with the way this new tool for our club communication is lining out, and I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

The team is very excited to announce that the 2020 calendar of events has been finalized. You’ll see all of our “old faithfuls” including our annual 4th of July BBQ, backcountry ATV trip, signature golf tournaments, and cooking classes. We’ll take these and sprinkle in a few newbies such as Best in Show (Whitetail Club style), viewing parties for the 4 championship tournaments, a family relay race, underground dinners and much more. We’re in the process of loading these events to the new and improved member website and will be sure to include our November newsletter as well. As always, you’ll receive a calendar of events in the mail in December. Please be aware that there has been a change in policy for the P.O. boxes located within The Fish & Swim Club. We will now be keeping all packages logged and locked in the member services office located upstairs at The Fish & Swim Club. Once a package is received, a team member will reach out to you with a confirmation of receipt, at which point you will need to either contact the club concierge or email member services to confirm a pick-up or drop-off time. Caleb Lee Hutchinson is charting a bold course for his country career and it’s bringing him straight to McCall. The blond-haired charmer whose crisp baritone and forward-thinking tastes captivated American Idol’s 16th season has an adventurous batch of original music underway. As one of the genre’s finest new vocals, Hutchinson reaches back through history in an artistic move that combines the classics with the contemporary into a soulful, harmonic union. Growing up with a melting pot of musical influences, from his father’s classic-country icons like Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard to his mother’s love of the electronic energy of ‘80s pop, and even his uncle’s heavy-metal legends like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin in constant rotation, helped to develop Hutchinson into the unique artist he is today. In 2017 he set out to compete in American Idol, moving seamlessly between traditional giants like Keith Whitley and modern stars like Sturgill Simpson. Fans latched on to his dynamic Southern vocals which shone on Carrie Underwood’s “So Small” as they did on Prince’s “When Doves Cry.” By the show’s finale, he had earned a strong second-place finish. But it felt more like a beginning than an end. “There’s a path in country that nobody’s really on right now, and even if the music I make is a little out in left field, at least it will be something you’ve never heard before” Hutchinson says. With six new tracks, that path is becoming clear. In 2018 he joined producer Kristian Bush — one half of the Grammy-winning country duo Sugarland — in an Atlanta recording studio. With Bush as his guide, Hutchinson fuses classic balladry and blistering Southern rock with rootsy indie pop, and acoustic guitars with moody rhythms and electronic effects. This November, Hutchinson brings his eclectic and stirring sounds to our small town for the Shore Lodge Fall Concert series, and it’ll be one you won’t want to miss.

At Your Service…
Staying in-the-know at Whitetail Club just got easier! The new Whitetail Club member website is now live and ready to help you make the most of your membership and our premier private community. As the membership continues to grow, we wanted to create a robust on-line communication platform to be a central hub for information, activities, and resources. The new member website (and its upcoming app counterpart) will take all the content found in the weekly emails, monthly Trailblazers, and annual calendars and put them in a central on-line location that can be accessed whenever and wherever. Later this month, you will receive a personal email with a username and password that will give you access to the new member website. Once you log in you’ll be prompted to change your password for security. Please reach out to us if you are having trouble gaining access. As you explore the new website you will see that the home page includes quick links to the most popular pages, upcoming events, and the current Trailblazer. The navigation bar has content broken up into three sections: Member Life, Kids Club, What’s Happening, Adventure, Food Network, and Concierge. In the footer you will find staff contacts, club documents, weather conditions, and real estate. In addition to the website being a central hub for all facility hours, adventures, dining menus, and event information, it will also feature online registration for club events! The RSVPs will be sent directly to the club concierge, making it simple to sign up for those can’t-miss events. Additionally, the Food Network section includes OpenTable quick links that take online reservations for dining outlets throughout Whitetail Club and Shore Lodge.

As Summer 2020 begins to approach, summer programs will also become available to be reserved online. Golf events and holiday dinners at the clubhouse will still require a phone call or email for reservations, but the new website makes that as easy as a click of a button. We encourage you to spend some time exploring the new member website as this is, and will continue to be, the main resource of information for the club. In the coming weeks we will also be rolling out a new member app. Once installed, the mobile app will contain all of the information featured on the member website, and will allow members to make dining reservations and even RSVP to upcoming events right from their phones. Please stay tuned for more information regarding the launch date and download instructions for the new app. We’re excited about this new member offering and look forward to seeing it in use. Tee time
Typical September, some great golf days and some good book reading days. Overall it was a wonderful month. We ended August with our regular Saturday Crew game with a twist: Monster Golf! This is when we play the golf course from the tips and put the pin location on the most difficult spots selected by our very own Nick Korthals, Assistant Superintendent. We had 20 players brave the conditions and difficulty of the course. Congratulations to all the players and to our Low Net Champion for the day, Jason Dobis with a score of 75. Great playing. We also did a blind draw for partners and the team of Jason Dobis & Troy Latimer came out on top with a team score of 152. The month started with a new event, Couples Ryder Cup. Mike & Trudy Collins and Kevin & Cathy Batchelor took the reins and organized a wonderful event that was played on Saturday & Sunday, September 7 & 8. Festivities kicked off with a dinner & pairings party at the Batchelor’s beautiful home on Friday evening. Pairings for the teams (Slicers & Hookers) were blind drawn and couples were not allowed to be on the same team. Once the two teams were drawn
the captains coupled their players to team up against the opposition. The group played 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. Every nine holes the format changed. Everyone had a great time. Congratulations to “The Slicers”: Michael Collins (Captain), Kevin Batchelor (Assistant Captain), Kathy Nagy, Linda Donerkiel, Julie Hutchison, Jenifer Ruff, Jennifer Summers, Denise Wagner, Eric Borchers, Mark Kuzio, Brett Gallagher, and Nathan Ferrell.
I also hope you enjoyed the golf staff. I want to thank all of them for doing a tremendous job all season. Diana, Patty, Leigh, Nathan, Taylor, Layton, Kevin, Paul, Isaiah, Jake, Anna, & Blake. Several of the team members have already committed to being a part of the staff next season. Very exciting to have continuity for the members. To those who are moving on, I want to wish you all the best for whatever you do in the future. Have a wonderful winter. Travel safe.
We will have the final tournament of the season on Saturday, October 12. The tournament is a 1pm shotgun with a Member Mixer following golf. The event is open to all players. real estate A Season of Growth We had an incredibly productive summer here at Whitetail Club! Currently, the Shore Lodge Cottages at Whitetail Club are nearly gone, with only two homes remaining. If you’ve been considering adding one of these homes to your real estate portfolio, now is the time to act! Meanwhile, our second up-and-coming neighborhood continues to break ground, with 3 new townhome buildings in production. That’s six new homes underway. We are very excited to watch these two neighborhoods come to life. While summer was crucial for our groundwork, the fall is bringing some developments of its own. We’ve been working very closely with Black & Gibson Wilkes on a beautiful design-built home with amazing lake and mountain views. As our community continues to grow, both in membership and in real estate offerings, we will continue to seek out real estate opportunities fit for our premier private community. 15.
