Director’s Note
Dear Whitetail Members,
Our Member Priority Booking at The Cove has been a great success. Due to the elevated business levels we’ve seen from the membership at The Cove over these last 2 months, we have opted to continue holding a preferred space for you through the end of October. Starting Labor Day weekend, we will hold one treatment room for Saturday and Sunday. A continued reminder that these appointments are being held for Whitetail Club members only. To allow you to book your requested services with less lead time, openings will be held until 5pm the day prior to the service. At 5pm, The Cove team will begin to fill any open appointments for the following day with waitlist and walk-in requests. Contact the club concierge today to make your reservation. Over the past few months, we have been working on a complete revamp of our Whitetail Club member portal. Our goal is to reorganize and restructure this tool to better accommodate our members’ need for information regarding all things Whitetail Club. In addition to the new member portal, we’ll also be launching a members-only Whitetail Club app. As the Whitetail Club experience continues to evolve and grow, so does the need for us to provide quick and easily accessible information to our members covering everything from club events to the membership directory. Though we’re incredibly excited about these new additions to our member communication plan, there will be a transition period that will require new logins & passwords being distributed to all members. Within the next few weeks, we’ll be communicating the steps to complete this process along with instructions on how to download & utilize the new Whitetail Club app. Stay tuned for more details on these exciting new improvements to the member experience.
will close for the season, along with Whitetail Burger Co., where we had a great opening season. Thank you for embracing this new offering. Chef Marcus and his team look forward to building on the successes we saw this season and continuing to improve upon the Whitetail Club culinary experience. For a complete list of all fall hours of operation, refer to page 15 of this issue of the Trailblazer. Next up on the Whitetail Club calendar of events, Grilling 101 and our Fall Progressive Dinner. Confirm your participation today. This past week we said farewell to Dan Scott and welcomed Tom Garcia, our new President and General Manager of Shore Lodge, Whitetail Club & The Cove to the team. We are all appreciative of Dan for his leadership and support throughout his (almost) 10 years with us. It’s been nothing short of amazing to reflect back on all that this team has accomplished under his direction. As the next chapter begins at Whitetail Club, we look forward to seeing where it takes us, with Tom at the helm. Lastly, but most certainly not least, the Whitetail Club family continues to grow. Please help in welcoming Rick Clark & Liz Roberts and Brad Duke. Go Hawks,
Labor Day weekend signals the beginning of our fall hours of operation for all Whitetail Club outlets and amenities. Most pressing, the Boathouse & C-Store 3.
A LOOK BACK AT SUMMER ‘19 Just Kidding Around The summer season brings with it plenty of opportunity for family fun, and this year, our junior members took full advantage of the warm weather by heading out into the great outdoors.

Another tremendous August on the golf course. The weather was perfect and the golf course in excellent condition thanks to a wonderful Turfgrass Team directed by Adam and Nick. We started the month with our signature event of the season, the Men’s Invitational. 54 teams participated and the competition was awesome! We had nine flights comprised of six teams per flight. The format in each flight was a nine-hole match against the other five teams in your flight. Immediately following Saturday’s final match, we took the nine flight champions and the runners-up, and played a horse race to determine the overall champions for 2019. The title this year went to Eric Borchers and his partner Kyle Brewer. Congratulations to Eric, Kyle and the entire field. I also want to thank Mike Shannahan the Tournament Chairman. Mike, I appreciate your assistance again this year and look forward to working with you again in 2020! Although I have said in the past that we will have a full field, I truly believe next year we will have a full field of 60 teams. I will send the invitations to the tournament April 1. If during the sign-up period we are overbooked for the tournament, we will have
a drawing for the 60 available spots and develop a waiting list for the remaining teams. Please look for the invitation and sign up early to save your spot in 2020! Unfortunately, we did not have enough participants for the Whitetail Cup, which was scheduled the weekend after the Invitational, and had to cancel the event. Next year I plan on moving the tournament to the third weekend in June. This event is all members and the format is a Ryder Cup match play. I hope you will keep your schedule open and join us next year! On Monday, September 9, we will once again host the Rocky Mountain Section ProAm. This tournament will close the golf course for the day. Golf Professionals from around the state have the opportunity to bring their members to play a competitive round of golf. If you want to play please let me or Nathan know so we can sign you up and register the team. The following two days, Tuesday & Wednesday, the golf course will be closed for our annual greens aerifying process. With the greens not at their best, I hope you will consider joining Taylor Nissen and me on a trip to Napa for some wonderful wine tasting experiences and golf. The
plan is set to have a wonderful fall trip. For more information and to reserve your spot please contact Jocelyn or myself. As you have noticed, the new Cart Barn is now taking shape. The foundation is in and we are going vertical. That project will be completed this winter and will open in May for our golf season. I doubt anyone will miss the gas carts! We will open next season with a brand-new fleet of electric carts. I hope you have enjoyed the golf staff and all that they do for you throughout the season. Our college team members will be leaving us soon. I want to thank everyone on the team for a tremendous effort this season. As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing you again soon. Respectfully,
