Director’s Note

Catching up with Whitetail Club Director

>> As we welcome in a new year, it seems only fitting to reflect back on what

an outstanding year Whitetail Club had in 2018. Time for one of my favorite games... ‘Whitetail Club By The Numbers’.

And one number that I feel is incredibly important to highlight is ‘8.’ Eight are how many ‘Bona Fide’ referrals, made by fellow members, resulted in new memberships in the 2018 calendar year. The $20,000 referral gift was paid out to each of those referring members. Thank you to all our members for your continued support. We couldn’t do it without you. By now you should have received your 2019 calendar of events. If not, please let me know and we’ll get one in the mail to you. As always, refer to your weekly eblasts and monthly Trailblazer for the ‘who, what, when & where’ for events happening at Whitetail Club. I want to remind everyone that we have Brundage Tailgates scheduled on both 3-day weekends in January & February. Tailgates are on Sundays (not Saturdays) from noon until 4pm and you can expect a new and improved experience. We’ve given our tailgates a facelift including new flooring, chairs, tables and for the ‘cherry on top,’ a food truck - our newest addition to our Whitetail Club culinary offering. Our culinary team has prepared an extended menu and items will be priced a la carte. Remember that ‘hitting the slopes’ is not a requirement to come to a Brundage Tailgate, all are welcome to stop by. Consider it the perfect spot for a little winter Happy Hour. The tent will be heated and the bar will be open. I hope to see you there.

Confirm your tickets today! Wishing you good health, happiness and success in the coming year,

THE McCALL WINTER CARNIVAL 2019 JANUARY 25TH - FEBRUARY 3RD

Gifts have been opened, decorations stored carefully, and a new year has already been rung. But the magic of the holiday season lives on in McCall, our mountain sanctuary that embodies the spirit of a winter wonderland. Here, we celebrate all things winter with the highly-anticipated McCall Winter Carnival. This annual extravaganza brings McCall citizens, new and old, together for 9 days of celebration and winter adventure. This year’s theme is ‘Legends, Myths and Superheros’. This family-centric fete is the must-attend event of the season, spread out over more than a week jam-packed with activities for all ages. Each year brings a new lineup of exciting, can’t-miss events, with some of the tried and true favorites making a comeback year after year. Be sure to check out the Winter Carnival’s famous snow sculptures. Artists from all over the west trek to McCall each year to participate in the Annual Idaho Snow Sculpting Championship, leaving us with amazing works of snowy art depicting a range of designs from architecture (homes, railroads, pyramids!) to animals, and yes, even snowmen. Other popular highlights include the MCPAWS Monster Dog Pull (no monsters are harmed during this event, but beware of the cuteness overload), the Winter Carnival Craft Fair, and the Torchlight and Mardi Gras parades. But of course, there’s

much more in store. Visitors can catch daily live music and events spanning from comedy shows and art auctions, to snowbike and snowshoe races, ice skating, hockey and more. Previous years have even included XBOX competitions with a Minecraft build-off. The festivities end in grand style, with fireworks over Payette Lake - another picture-perfect opportunity for quality family time. New details on this year’s itinerary are still emerging, so be sure to stay tuned for more information. Started in the 1960s, this iconic event inspired by the Payette Lake Winter Games has grown throughout the years, now bringing over 60,000 people to McCall each year! And through its extensive history, Whitetail Club and Shore Lodge have been proud to take part in this extraordinary event. From providing lodging to visitors and housing some of the winter carnival’s exciting events (including Whitetail Club’s Winter Signature Event on January 26th and Shore Lodge’s Winemaker’s Dinner on February 2nd) to being a spirited participant in the themed floats and other events, we’ve been happily celebrating the season alongside our Whitetail Club members throughout the decades. We hope to make this another great year at the McCall Winer Carnival, and look forward to seeing you all there!
