The Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley (HSCV) announces that their next educational program, “Nature, Industry, and Heritage: Uncovering the Legacy of Lancaster County’s Limestone and Lime Industry”, will be held Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran
Church, 167 East Main Street, Ephrata. Peter Glogovsky is a public historian and museum professional whose work focuses on Pennsylvania industrial history, cultural landscapes, and public memory. This program highlights some of the people who quarried stone, burned lime, or simply used these commodities, demonstrating the myriad ways these materials contributed to Pennsylvania’s cultural landscapes and industrial development.
As always, this program is open free to the public. Parking lot and entrance in the rear alley. For more information, visit the society’s website at www. cocalicovalleyhs.org or call 717-733-1616. In addition, Revolutionary War reenactor, Irvin Snavely, will be at the museum on Saturday, August 22, during the museum’s regular hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Mr. Snavely will be portraying a German Continental soldier and will gladly share his
knowledge and answer any questions. Look for his display on the lawn! Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The Adamstown Area Library in partnership with the Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Department visited the Reamstown Park to conduct a paleontology stream study recently. Children scoured the stream for all kinds of aquatic life and determined the overall health of the stream.
