Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The Friends of the Adamstown Area Library will hold their annual “Glance at Romance” book sale from Monday, January 23 through Tuesday, February 14, or while supplies last. Library staff and volunteers decorate bags with Valentines and lace. The bags are filled with eight romance novels and placed throughout the library where they serve as holiday decorations and eye-catching fundraisers. If you have a “special someone” who enjoys reading romance novels, here is a unique Valentine gift for them. A few empty bags will also be available for those who might want to fill their own bag. The bag designers are Linda Tomlinson, Sharon Heany and Sonia Yost’s mother, Eva Kling. Stop by the library to purchase a bag of books for a small fee and find out about the other services and programs that are available to the community. Shown in the photo, from left to right, are Sonia Yost, Carole Evans, Linda Tomlinson and Sharon Heany.

Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The Akron Lions Club 24th Annual “All You Can Eat” Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Sunday, January 29 at the Akron Fire Hall, from 11:00 a.m. until sold out. The Lions are preparing to make over 50 gallons of their “Secret Sauce” for the best spaghetti dinner in Akron and perhaps all of Lancaster County – possibly all of Pennsylvania! The “Secret Sauce” recipe was taste tested this year and it was determined by popular demand that the sauce be kept the same, as no other recipe received more votes than the original “Secret Sauce.” The dinner is complete with salad, a choice of beverages and a wide variety of baked goods for dessert. Proceeds from the dinner help them serve the local community. Come join them. They are ready to serve you! Shown getting ready for the big event, from left to right, are David Austin, Phil Rutt and Russ Kilhefner.
