It was a bit dirty but we bought it together and took it home and washed and waxed it all up and made it pretty. It served me well.

Yes, that was my daddy, he was a man of few words but if you hung around him long enough he would give you tidbits of wisdom that a clung too. We use to eat dinner at 6:00 every night and I would love it when he would start talking about life and we would have deep discussions. That’s another thing he demanded of us all that we would be home for supper at 6:00 to show respect for my mom who took time to prepare dinner for us all. You had to have permission to miss dinner and it better be something important.

My mom and dad grew up during the depression and my dad’s mom had to work, they all worked. For years he wouldn’t let my mom get a job, he wanted her home with us kids. I always appreciated that but mom, not so much, she wanted a career but over the years they worked it out and most of the time mom was home with us kids. I am very thankful for my parents and how they raised us. Yes, my father was a hard working man who loved his family dearly and put his own desires to the side to accomodate us many a time, just like my mom did as well. We were a family and the family as a whole had to be considered in every decision they made.

Sometimes one wouldn’t be as happy as the other but I’m glad we hung in there together as a unit. My parents were married over 50 years when my dad passed away on March 21st in 2001 but he lives on in my memories and I am happy to say he is in heaven with his grandson Chris and one day I will join them. I love you Daddy now and forever..
