THE OLD MILL COFFEEHOUSE

By Robin Noll

The Old Mill Coffeehouse located at 14264 PA-35, Richfield, PA was birthed in the brain of Jaysen Sheeler, an 18 year old East Juniata senior. Jaysen has been gifted with an entrepreneur mindset. He already has a successful lawn care and landscaping business, JBS Services LLC but the idea of the Coffeehouse kept coming to his mind so he shared it with his dad, Brian and his dad thought it sounded like a good idea and they started searching for the perfect location. Then one day they drove by the Richfield Feed Mill and saw that it was for sale and took a tour of the property and the vision for the Coffeehouse exploded. The Feed Mill was bought and the renovations and ideas were put into place.

yogurt and ice cream. Also available Hershey’s Ice Cream. Jaysen has developed Old Mill’s own brand of wood fire roasted coffee that is available grounded or full bean, which is also locally sourced and roasted in Central, PA. (Jaysen stressed that it was WOOD fire, I guess that makes a difference) Also available is local honey and candies and various other products.

The Old Mill Coffeehouse not only features hot coffee but cold coffee drinks as well as Frappes and Fruit Smoothies. Janet comes in ev- beverages and goodies while you work. The seating area is also big enough to host parties and get togethers. They have plans to expand upwards in the Mill to include a conference area.

If you don’t want to park and come in and you’re in a hurry they do have Drive thru service. You enter off Mill Road right behind the building, it’s

The whole family has joined the venture with Jaysen’s mom Janet being the general manager and Brandon, Jaysen brother, being in charge of the online presence and doing what needs to be done. They all work together to make The Old Mill Coffeehouse a success.

The concept was also to use as many local sources for products that The Old Mill Coffeehouse uses as possible. That includes Reedsville Creamery that provides Bottles of Milk (pasteurized and raw in glass returnable bottles) ery morning and makes the fresh pastry including cinnamon buns! The Old Mill serves breakfast (sandwiches, grain bin), lunch (Feed Bag Club, Grinder, Hot Clucker, Haymaker) Paninis (named Farm-ini, Mexi-ini etc.). They come up with names that go along with the feed mill and farmer theme. They have soups and salads available as well. You can scan their menu with the code that is on their ad on page 11.

Another feature of the Old Mill is they have an entire bar seated area where you can plug in and charge your phones or come in and plug in to use their high speed wi-fi and enjoy your favorite pretty neat. Their current hours are Monday thru Saturday 5AM to 8pm and Sunday, 7am to 8pm.

The Sheelers are community minded and host various fundraisers throughout the year. Coming up February 9th 20% of all sales will benefit the DARIS SHELLEY-CIECIERSKI MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND. They choose a different fund raiser monthly.

Opening up in the near future in part of “The Mill” will be a Turnpaugh Health & Wellness Center. They currently have offices in Mechanicsburg and Lancaster but they have a number of patients from Juniata county and the surrounding areas that would benefit having a closer location. Turnpaugh’s philosophy is to get to the root of the cause of one’s ailment and to treat the whole patient to achieve optimal health and restoration. The Sheelers are excited to be able to bring this practice to the community.
