About the National Day of Prayer The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress’ proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer and, in 1988, that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.

It has been a busy month. Did you ever wish you could just get off the “Roller Coaster of Life” and take a breather.

I remember when I was growing up thinking I sure don’t want to live a boring life. I can truly say, my life is never boring, there is always something going on and always something to do. If God wanted us to sit around and do nothing He would have made our bodies more like chairs but He didn’t. He made us so that we would be healthier if we keep moving. We were created in His image and likeness so we are all destined to create one thing or Robert Greene another.

7 on May 3rd One of the most rewarding creations in my life are my children. The picture on the right is of my grandson, Robert Greene. Robert will be turning 7 on May 3rd. HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROBERT! Many of you may remember Andrea, who use to work for me. This is her little guy. They certainly grow up fast. The picture was taken at the Liverpool Easter Egg hunt (actually at the park while we were waiting for the hunt to begin) Thank you to all the people who volunteered and took the time to fill all the eggs with prizes, hide them and giving the kiddos a great time.

Zack and Mason, Rachel’s two guys, are playing baseball this year. She sent me pictures and it amazes me how many men volunteer to teach the young boys how to play ball. Hats off to all the volunteers. It looks like Zack hangs on every word his coach says to him. Thank you to all those who coach and teach kids in the organized sports. It’s a shame you can’t get together with the neighborhood kids and play sand lot baseball and kickball. Families are too small and the kids are spread out, so it’s nice to have the organized sports where the kids can learn and play as a team.

You’ll see a lot of red, white, and blue in this issue. Memorial Day is on Monday, May 28th. Talking of volunteers, I have been reflecting on all the military personnel who serve our country everyday. Yes, they do get paid but is any payment really enough for what they have to go through. Personally I’m very thankful for each of them and their families for sacrificing so much so that we can live in the United States of America. I know our country isn’t perfect and we do need to get back to God. I recently read an article about a number of Washington elite do gather together for prayer and pray. I pray that they do hear from God and make the right decisions. On Thursday, May 3rd it’s the National Day of Prayer hopefully we’ll all set aside a chunk of time and even join with a group of people and pray for this nation. I have been studying prayer for a long time. The other day I was reading the account of the first Christians praying for Peter to be delivered from Herod and prison. The angel of the Lord went in the prison and delivered Peter. When Peter went to where they were gathered praying the girl answered the door and said, “It’s Peter.” The one’s praying said, ran to the door to see for themselves, they didn’t believe her. That is how I am, I pray but do I truly believe that God will answer, I think not but I’m working on it.
