HAPPY

Just imagine being in a covenantal relationship with someone for twenty-five years and during the celebration of this long-standing event, your partner announces that she is pregnant? A child? Twenty-five years later? Insane! No! Granted, it may be strange, but not insane. It is especially not insane when we are talking about the God of the universe who specializes in “strange.”

There are also those who were foundational to Mega Church, its beginning and its growth. However, for various reasons, God saw fit to move them on to other areas, other vineyards and other callings. We are thankful for them because they left with us an indelible impression of their labor, sweat, tears and, most of all, their

Genesis 21:5 - “And Abraham was a hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him.”

Rejoice! The promises delayed are about to be realized in this house. Unlike Sarah, we must refuse to “laugh,” but emphatically believe that “faithful is He who has promised”!

Rejoicing,CELEBRATE!!! Luther & Pastor Lois Blackwell

Then, prayers.there are others who attached themselves to the vision at various stages along the way. You, too, are to be thanked for allowing God to graft you in among us. We are confident of His love for us because He brought you — some wounded, some broken and others disillusioned. We celebrate, because we cannot imagine what it would have been like without you.

WE

Bishop

Imagine how Abraham and Sarah felt while in the prime of their lives, nothing transpired as it related to what God had told them. Certainly, that would have been the ideal time. But while Abraham is on the verge of celebrating his centennial birthday, there it was…the birthing of the child of promise. Twenty-five years later? Yes, twenty-five years later!

There are those who have been with us from Mega’s inception. You are to be commended for your unwavering support, following us as we have endeavored to follow Christ. Our ears have not heard of any murmuring, grumbling or complaining from you, along the way. If this was not the case, you would not have remained. You have dared to believe in what others could not begin to imagine. You “saw” when others were totally blind. You rejoiced when there were only a few with whom you could rejoice and yet, you stayed.

MEGA CHURCH - Celebrating 25 Years

To the beloved members of Mega Church …

Genesis 12:4 -”Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.”

Yes, twenty-five years. It would seem that regression would be the order of the day. But not so! The birthing of the promised child did not begin until Abraham’s 25th year of waiting. So it goes for those of this house who have believed, waited, travailed and stood. Buckle up and prepare yourselves for the fulfillment of all that God has promised since the beginning of this ministry.

Bishop Blackwell is the pastor of two churches. He is the founder and pastor of Mega Church in Cleveland, Ohio and pastor of San Francisco Temple Christian Assembly in St. Louis, Missouri.

MEGA CHURCH - Celebrating 25 Years

Bishop Luther J. Blackwell, Jr.

The ministry of Bishop Luther Blackwell, senior pastor of Mega Church in Cleveland, Ohio, is known throughout the world. Traveling extensively as a lecturer, teacher and guest speaker, Bishop Blackwell has been featured in some of the country’s most prestigious and life-changing spiritual conferences and graced pulpits of the same Bishopmagnitude.Blackwellgraduated

Since its inception twenty-five years ago, Mega Church has been among the leaders in the area of racial reconciliation, demonstrating the ability of God to bring His people of different races and cultures together. As pastor of San Francisco Temple, he has continued to build upon the foundational ministries through renovation, progressive informational technology and theological and academic excellence. He is a pastor with compassion and preaches the unadulterated Word of God with a passion that demonstrates the ability of God to move His people into a greater realm of maturity.

Bishop Blackwell has become known for his seminars on the Biblical application of money and the Black believer, adding wealth and self-worth to their listeners. His two powerful series entitled POWER TO GET WEALTH and HERITAGE OF THE BLACK BELIEVER are extremely popular biblical references. Both POWER TO GET WEALTH and HERITAGE OF THE BLACK BELIEVER have been released in book form. Bishop Blackwell recently released his newest book entitled, IT’S IN THE FISH’S MOUTH. All of his literary works are now available in Spanish.

In recent years, the ministry of Bishop Luther Blackwell has exploded in the Hispanic nations of the world, producing a marriage between two cultures that is totally unique but awesomely divine. Only God could orchestrate such a symphony of diverse entities as the chemistry between Bishop Blackwell and the Latin nations of the earth commingle. The message of Reconciliation that he has carried in his heart for decades is now reaching a phenomenal pitch as he continues to resound it across the waters and around the globe.

Bishop Luther Blackwell and his ever-faithful wife, Lois, reside in the Greater Cleveland area with their family - Stacy Michelle, Alana Denise and husband, Louie Hendon, Lucien Christopher and wife, Nafeesa, and Meaghan Christina, who stand as pillars of support to his ministry. They also have six beautiful grandchildren, McKenna Christine, Noah Christopher James and Jonah Christopher Scott born to Lucien and Nafeesa, and Kennedy Raine, Reagan Joi and Jaxon Myles Dwight born to Alana and Louie.

with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Conservatory of Music at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. He utilized his degree in the Cleveland Public School System, where he taught for four years at Alexander Hamilton Jr. High School and received distinguished honors as one of Cleveland’s finest teachers. He also received Master and Doctor Degrees of Biblical Studies from Christian Leadership University in Elma, New York, as well as a Doctor of Ministry degree from Vision Christian College in Ramona, California.

Lois says that her first ministry was and will always be home. Her greatest joy is the time she spends with her husband, children and grandchildren.

Pastor Lois and her husband, Bishop Luther J. Blackwell, Jr., are the pastors and founders of Mega Church in Cleveland, Ohio. She is involved with the counseling ministry and she currently oversees the Women’s Ministry Division at this great church.

A matter that is dear to Pastor Lois Blackwell’s heart is that of women’s issues. She has taught many classes and seminars on such issues as hormones, menopause, sexual abuse, sexually transmitted diseases, mid-life changes, etc. Many women around the nation have been blessed by her candor at such conferences as The National Women’s Conference and the International Congress of Local Churches. She has appeared on Good Morning America, discussing the topic of menopause. She is able to both use her educational background and her wealth of Christian wisdom to address topics that are not usually tackled within the church arena.

MEGA CHURCH - Celebrating 25 Years

Pastor Lois Blackwell was both born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. As the daughter of the late Bishop Dwight H. McDaniels, Jr., her earliest recollections are of a life that was rooted deeply in the church and the community. Upon high school graduation, she entered Homer G. Phillips Nursing School and graduated as an R.N. Her studies also took her to Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, where she graduated as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist. She practiced as a Staff C.R.N.A. for twenty years in the state of Ohio.

In her own reticent manner, she reaches out to others without recognition. Pastor Lois is a tremendous blessing to Mega Church, San Francisco Temple Christian Assembly and to the body of Christ at Pastorlarge.

She is a phenomenal, courageous and strong woman of God. Pastor Lois’ teaching is profound, but practical. She is known to say, “Don’t sweat the small stuff because it isn’t

MEGA CHURCH -

Celebrating 25 Years

On November 29, 1991, during a T.G.I.F. service, the Lord directed Bishop Blackwell to have the church stand on His Word (II Samuel 7:10), that being that He would lead it to a place and it would move no more. On December 1, 1991, the hours, Bishop Blackwell was making an offer on what is now the Mega Church building.

Mega’s first service at its new home (3170 Scranton) was held on December 31, 1991, in which the first communion was served. Its official grand opening was held on

Sunday, January 5, 1992. Its first baptismal service was held on January 26, 1992.

On June 2, 1991, Mega Church’s (the church had not yet been named and was referred to as Luther Blackwell Ministries) first service was held at 3201 Euclid Avenue (Y.W.C.A.), in the heart of Cleveland. The charter members that were present and are still a vital part of the ministry of Mega Church are: Associate Pastor Ronald and Colleen Richeson, Minister Andrea Manning, Angela Rozell, Deaconess Lottie Lovelady, Claudette Westley-Floyd, Mildred Lewis (deceased), Minister Gail Pickett, Armenia Ashby, Melvinia Miller, Sarah Owens, Daisy Little and Executive Pastor Louie Hendon.

On September 18, 1994, Mega Church had its Mortgage Burning Weekend Ceremony, celebrating the paying off of the indebtedness of the church. This was all made possible by the committed membership of Mega Church. Mega Church began its Early Morning Worship Service on Sunday, December 17, 1995, to accommodate its rapid expansion. The hallmark of Mega Church is seen in its racial composition. The church is a leader in the Cleveland Metropolitan Area in demonstrating the Kingdom of God in its embrace of all people. The church consists of converted Muslim, completed Jewish, Irish, Italian, Hispanic, Caucasian, and African-American members, of all walks of life. Mega Church has been distinguished and recognized for this uniqueness by the former mayor of the city, Mayor Michael C. White, and current mayor, Mayor Frank G. Jackson, who made several visits.

Mega Church is a church that accepts the responsibility of ministering beyond its own. Enthusiastic members of Mega Church and its constituency filled the largest classes that the Federal Housing Authority Administration has seen in its Homebuyers’ Education Program. The Mega Church facility also housed Cleveland’s Head Start Program as well as The Hand ‘N Hand Kids Kare Center, a bilingual day care, which opened in the fall of 1999 and remained a staple in the community for 11 years. Its constituency was an interesting blend of ethnic groups being, 46.5% Hispanic; 39.5% African American; 9% Caucasian; 2.5% Arabic; and 2.5% Asian. This day care was designed to be a leader in the community in multi-racial relations.

Bishop Luther and Pastor Lois Blackwell’s children, Stacy Michelle, Alana Denise and husband, Executive Pastor Louie Hendon, Elder Lucien Christopher and wife, Nafeesa, and Meaghan Christina, are greatly involved in the heart of the church’s vision, serving in key roles in the ministry of Mega Church. Bishop Luther and Pastor Lois Blackwell take great delight in their grandchildren, McKenna, Noah and Jonah, born to Lucien and Nafeesa, and Kennedy, Raegan and Jaxon, born to Alana and Louie.

A new Mega Church Campus is presently in the planning stages to accommodate this Twenty-First Century church and its vision in serving this new millennium.

Mega Church - The History

Mega Church was birthed through prophecy three years before its existence came to fruition. It stands as a memorial to the faith of Luther and Lois Blackwell and to New Life Fellowship as they were instrumental in seeing the vision manifested through prayer and fasting.

On Friday, August 2, 1991, Mega Church had its first T.G.I.F. (Thank God It’s Friday!) Celebration. A.C.T.I.O.N. (All Church Teaching In One Night) classes began October 1, 1991. Mega Church was officially named on Friday, October 4, 1991. God gave Bishop Blackwell the name, “Mega,” and it means GREAT. The theme for Mega Church is “RAISING UP A PEOPLE TO BE ‘GREAT’ IN GOD.”

The Mega Church logo denotes its purpose. Psalm 98:1 reads, “O sing unto the Word from the Lord came that if Mega would be faithful in giving, it would have its church home in a few months. Mega was faithful, and within fortyeight Lord a new song; for he hath done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm, hath gotten him victory.” This logo represents Mega Church placed in the right hand and right arm of the Almighty God, Who has not only gained the victory for Himself, but for a people as well. The logo comprises the “M” for Mega Church in the right arm of God. The result, being victory, is represented by the crown.

• To show that men of different races and ethnic backgrounds can truly successfully live together in love, harmony and peace.

• To bring the reality of the Kingdom to the ClevelandMetropolitan area.

• To demonstrate reconciliation in practical ways on an ethnic level.

• To see the result of our success being evident in the need of the whole man being more than met.

• To present an alternative lifestyle.

To accomplish our vision that God will be totally glorified in and through us, and His glory will be seen throughout Northeastern Ohio.

• To become a reproductive organism.

• To provide wholesome activities for the family that will help bind them in the bonds of love.

• To provide a sanctuary that will house all those God has given us in the Cleveland-Metropolitan area.

• To provide facilities for the homeless, the displaced, the aged and the single parent, as well as to any other deprived segment of society that warrants our reaching out.

• To establish jobs as a proof of our message and of the reality of the covenant of prosperity actively working in our midst.

• To promote those in community life who will help bring our society back to a God-ward direction.

• To understand the three major truths of emphasis that will help us accomplish the above goal. They are KINGDOM, RESTORATION and COVENANT.

• To provide wholesome recreation for our youth.

• To give to man the message of reconciliation - to God and to man.

• To demonstrate in our lifestyles what the Kingdom of God is: righteousness (God-ward); peace (man-ward); joy (self-ward).

• To be a “father ministry,” thus offering to those, who want to become sons, an opportunity to benefit from the deposit that God has made within us.

• To become the hub of community life.

MEGA CHURCH - Celebrating 25 Years

• To understand that reality is defined as the principles of Kingdom life functioning in very practical, but yet powerful ways.

• To provide care and maintenance to visiting ministers of the Gospel.

• To know that the KINGDOM brings God to man, RESTORATION brings man to God and the COVENANT seals the relationship.

• To be a role model in PRACTICAL ways of the victory that can be achieved through Jesus Christ in every walk of life.

• To bring restoration to the family.

• To raise up a people to be “GREAT (MEGA)” in God.

• To give wasted humanity a reason for their existence; thus providing purpose for life as well as fulfillment therein.

• To know that the Bible is a very spiritual book that has been given to very real humanity. Therefore, our vision is to see the spiritual made applicable to natural people, as well as to see natural people arising and living in the realm of the spiritual. In other words, let us learn to be spiritual in natural things, and natural in spiritual things.

• To reach out to every segment of the community and present the Gospel of the Kingdom as the SOLE solution to the dilemmas of community life.

• To show that through worship and praise, man doesn’t have to be bound or controlled by their circumstances, but can focus in on the God who effectively keeps us afloat over all things.

Mega Church - The Vision

• We believe we are one body being members one of another and the basis of our fellowship is in Christ in the power of the Spirit (Romans 12:3-8, I Corinthians 12, Ephesians 2:13-22, 4:3-6, Colossians 3:15).

• We believe that the Gospel of the Kingdom is God’s absolute answer to man’s total needs NOW– spiritually, morally, soulically, physically, socially, and economically (Matthew 4:23; Luke 12:23-32).

MEGA CHURCH -

• We believe the nine gifts of the Spirit should be and must be operative in the church to enjoy the fullness of God (I Corinthians 12:11).

• We believe each Christian is called and chosen in God to be a priest unto God, to offer up the sacrifice of praise (the fruit of his lips), to give of his time, strength, and material possessions to the service of the Lord (I Corinthians 6:20, Hebrews 13:15, I Peter 2:5,9).

• We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God (II Timothy 3:15-17).We believe in the one true God who has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

• We believe it is impossible to come to the Father by any other means than through the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:4)

• We believe it is essential that each believer lay a foundation of Biblical truth and experience upon which he builds his life (Hebrews 6:1-2)

Celebrating 25 Years

• We believe the physical phenomenon of speaking with other tongues accompanies the baptism (initial infilling) of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4,10:44-48, 19:6)

• We believe the tithe of our earnings is holy unto God (Malachi 3:8-10, Hebrews 7:4-10).

• We believe in the doctrine of the laying on of hands for confirmation, ordination (Acts 13:1-3, I Timothy 4:14), and the ministry of healing to the sick (Mark 16:18).

• We believe that repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ produces the work of justification in the believer (Romans 5:1-9, Ephesians 2:5-8)

• We believe in the five-fold ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers and that they continue to be needed and should be expected today (I Corinthians 12:28, Ephesians 4:11).

Statement of Faith

• We believe in the imminent, personal return of our Lord, and the restitution of all things spoken by the mouth of all prophets since the world began (Acts 1:11, 3:19-21).

• We believe water baptism is commanded of every believer and is a necessary requisite for going on to spiritual maturity (Matthew 28:19, Acts 2:38).We believe the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a necessary and vital experience for every believer.

MEGA CHURCH -

Letter to the Delegates

Celebrating 25 Years

Welcome, delegates, to the 3rd Annual Joint Holy Convocation involving two of the finest churches in America - Mega Church, Cleveland, OH and San Francisco Temple C.A, St. Louis, MO! This year is exceptional because Mega Church is celebrating its 25th (Silver) Anniversary. Who would have anticipated that San Francisco Temple would be a sweet savor to this anniversary convention as we continue in unique fellowship with one another? There is in nature the principle of cross-pollination, that is, the transfer of pollen from the male reproductive organ of one plant to the female reproductive organ of another plant. One of the main agents in this process is wind. So, as the wind of the Holy Spirit blows among us this week, you will find your life taking on new meaning, new growth and new strength, as we engage in the lives of one another. Therefore, take time to fellowship with those you do not know and whose paths you have never crossed. You will be surprised as to the preciousness that has been placed in each life that you meet.

Remember, your purpose for coming is not a vacation, per se, but a spiritual retreat where God has arranged for you to be encouraged and built up in the most holy faith. So, take advantage of every service, ministry gift and sermonic presentation. It will make a difference in your life ahead. The Mega Church family is most honored to receive our brothers and sisters from the Gateway City, as well as those who may be visiting from other churches. Our leadership and staff are dedicated to making this experience an enjoyable, productive and memorable one for you. It is our prayer that, in these meetings, each delegate will be blessed, refreshed, inspired and motivated to return to the call of God upon each life. May your pursuit of the call be with diligence and much integrity of heart.

Yours for the Kingdom, Bishop Luther and Pastor Lois Blackwell

In 1959, Bishop Green accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior and, with spiritual zeal, immediately became involved in street evangelism. His passion for Christ and for lost souls has never

training and faith-building experiences have qualified him to be a man of wisdom. Known as a “pastor’s pastor”, Bishop Green, understanding the requisites and challenges of ministry, has become a confidante and advisor to his fellow ministers. He is the recipient of an Honorary Doctor of Theology Degree from the Southern California School of Ministry. In April 1999, he was ordained and consecrated to the position of Bishop.

His love for humanity and passion for the Gospel has taken him to three continents and a number of different countries and out of his church has come a strong home and foreign missionary outreach.

Bishop Donald Green

Bishop Green is a man with a vision and determination to see the continued proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this generation. In addition to his own pastorate, he has assisted other pastors in founding churches throughout the Bay Area. To build and strengthen marriages and families, he instituted the Couples’ Conference in 1971. Through these conferences, marriages have been saved and enriched. Other ministries include youth leadership training, ministerial training, prison ministry, and ministries to senior citizens. Under Bishop Green’s leadership, because of the faithfulness of God and Bishop Green’s diligence as a faithful and obedient servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, San Francisco Christian Center has paid for all of their property on its 71,000 sq. ft. campus.

Bishop Green and Betty, his childhood sweetheart, have been married for 58 years. Their daughter, Donyelle and her minister husband, have two children.

Resound truly believes their gifts and all of the opportunities they have been given, thus far, can only be accredited to God. Without Him, they know they would not be able to do what they do. They are motivated by Isaiah 42:12 which states, “Make God’s glory RESOUND; echo His praises from coast to coast.”

Celebrating Years

Resound’s ability to complement each other in every arrange ment leads most to believe they are family members who have been singing together for years. The members of the trio were brought together in 2010 while singing for a local play in their hometown of Richmond, VA. One day while sitting around the dinner table, the talented trio did an “Awesome” medley and posted it to Facebook. The video went viral! Shortly after, they sung an impromptu rendition of Total Praise for gospel record ing artist, Byron Cage, which was posted to YouTube and went viral. This video, along with others they have posted, caught the attention of artists such as Donnie McClurkin, who invited them to open on his 2014 Festival of Praise tour with Fred Hammond. They have been afforded the opportunity to sing background for many musical greats and are now focusing on the career path of their group, Resound.

America voted for their favorite singer, and 20-year-old Geoffrey Golden was crowned the season seven winner of BET Sunday Best. Golden won the hearts of America and favor with the celebrity judges due to his professional demeanor, stature, humility, and anointing that were evident throughout all of his performances on the show.

GEOFFREY GOLDEN

From classical to gospel, this trio is best known for their unique and skillful a cappella arrangements. Joseph Clarke, Jessica Fox and Mariah Hargrove make up the Richmond, VA based trio, RESOUND. Their mission is to encourage and provoke in dividuals to share their God-given gifts and talents with others, just as they have.

Golden, nicknamed the “Black Pavarotti” by Kirk Franklin, has an extensive musical background, one that seems to be beyond his years. He was born into a musical family – his great-grand father, an accomplished jazz saxophonist, his great-grand mother, a child prodigy as a concert pianist. This talent was passed down to his mother, Beverly Golden, who serves as the Minister of Music for his home church, the Glenville Church of Christ (Holiness) USA in Cleveland, OH, where his father, Elder Kevin D. Golden, is the Senior Pastor.

Geoffrey served as the Student Director for the Cleveland Heights Gospel Choir and along with writing, arranging and teaching music, he was also the featured soloist. At that time, he cultivated his passion for the “Presence and People of God.” Having a desire to promote gospel/Christian music and a spirit of unity in Cleveland, particularly among his peers, it was laid on Golden’s heart to organize a City-Wide Youth Choir Ex plosion in 2010. This event has become the annual Cleveland Worship Weekend, a highly anticipated conference held close to the new year which now includes workshops and community service

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the privilege of having served you at Mega Church for these 25 years. You’ve given me a foundation of good solid biblical teaching. You’ve also unlocked for me the knowledge of true worship and intimate fellowship as well as the revelation of the spiritual benefits of prayer and fasting. These principles have become the anchor of my spiritual walk with the Lord. How blessed I am to be your daughter in the Lord. Thank you for allowing the Lords purpose of covering me to be fulfilled in you!
