CELEBRATING THE CONTINUED SUPPORT OF THE CHINESE COMMUNITY FOR BRIDLETOWNE AND BEYOND

Every year we are amazed by the commitment and support of our Chinese community. This year they collectively raised over $1.5 million, most of which will support the creation of the new Bridletowne Neighbourhood Centre. Bridletowne will be a brand-new community hub that will transform management and treatment for kidney disease and diabetes, offering medical, social, and community services in a onestop space.

Located in the heart of Scarborough, Bridletowne will enhance population health by offering dialysis treatment, education about chronic disease prevention, cooking classes and exercise facilities to adopt new healthy lifestyles and, ultimately, build a brighter, healthier future for Scarborough.

This year, a generous group of donors from the Chinese community, including the Light Foundation, came together to donate over $1 million to make the Bridletowne Neighbourhood Centre a reality. They were inspired by the Love, Scarborough campaign and wanted to join our fight against healthcare inequities.

Additionally, SHN Foundation’s Annual Chinese Radiothon raised over $500,000 for critical projects like Bridletowne, and thanks to the ongoing support of our Chinese community, this yearly event has raised over $2.5 million in total. SHN Foundation was also the charitable partner for the prestigious Fête Chinoise Lunar New Year Gala, raising over $50,000 for our hospitals.

We are tremendously grateful for the support and generosity of the entire Chinese community – from Scarborough, Toronto, and beyond –who continue to advocate and fundraise for our Scarborough hospitals.
