Tootsie Rolls – Missing Dairy Designation Brand: Yupik Product: Tootsie Rolls Issue: The product was inadvertently labeled without a ‘dairy’ designation.

The product is DAIRY and kosher certified.

Shemittah Bulletin – COR Policy on Yevul Nochri Yevul Nochri literally means produce of a gentile and refers to produce of land in Israel that is owned by a gentile. The status of such produce is the subject of earnest debate. Some say that the Land of Israel does not lose its holiness regardless of whether it is presently in the hands of a gentile and therefore the laws of Shemittah would apply to its produce. Others maintain the laws of Shemittah do not apply to the land of a gentile and therefore its produce is not subject to the laws of Shemittah. The custom of the rabbis of Jerusalem is to follow the lenient opinion while others follow the directive of the Chazon Ish and are strict in regard to yevul nochri. As it were, much of the produce that is sold in the restaurants and establishments of Jerusalem under strict kosher certification is Yevul Nochri. It is critical to note that even according to the strict opinion all yevul nochri is permitted for consumption. Rather, the debate centers on the concept of kedushas shevi’is. For example, the strict opinion does not allow yevul nochri to be wasted or thrown out amongst other restrictions.

It has come to our attention that a handful of Israeli products that contain yevul nochri and are certified by reliable kosher certifiers; both Israeli and North American; are finding their way to the retail market in Toronto. In line with the policy of other major kosher certifications, COR allows yevual nochri in its certified establishments.

What you should know about SnapChat

Although some people use it for “innocent” fun, SnapChat was created specifically for the purpose of sharing inappropriate pictures without worrying about getting caught.

The thought of not getting caught makes it easy for “innocent fun” to turn into pictures being sent that the person would never want others to see.

Though people believe that SnapChat pictures will automatically be destroyed after 10 seconds, the reality is that it is fairly easy for others to permanently save your pictures.

SnapChat allows users to connect by “adding” friends to their list. You can add people you know as well as people you don’t know.

Because there is no way to monitor use, it can be difficult to figure out whether your child is interacting with people they should not be speaking to.

No, SnapChat is not “just like texting”!
