We are excited to announce the opening of a new Resource Centre in Yeshiva Yesodei Hatorah for September 2018, where students in need will be provided with individualized instruction and support.

DIRECTOR OF STUDENT SERVICES The Director of Student Services is responsible for providing leadership and coordination of individualized programs, working in cooperation with teachers and principals. The Director reports to the General Studies Principal and Menahel of the School.

The Director will be responsible for the design and implementation of programs and services which include: working with staff to identify students in need of support; type and intensity of support, and scheduling accordingly how and where that support will be delivered during the instructional day.

Major Responsibilities • Designing and delivering any in-service, training, and professional development for teacher and assistants.

• Coaching and supporting classroom staff.

• Liaising with parents and external service providers regarding individual needs of students.

• Responding to individual programming needs identified through formal assessment data and classroom data.

• Designing comprehensive programming to support individual students and/or classrooms • Modelling effective instructional and assessment practices for teachers to implement in their classrooms.

• Researching evidence-based instructional practices and resources for use in classrooms.

• Designing, implementing, and modelling for teachers,accommodations in the classroom as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

• Supporting with the intentional and purposeful use of appropriate technology in supporting student learning.

• Developing and revising documents and resources as needed.

• Collaborating with teachers in the development of an IEP. • Scheduling in-school team meetings as required.

• Facilitating the provision of accommodations and/or modifications as set out in the IEP. • Providing direct support to students through a variety of programs/intervention strategies (e.g., reading booster groups, small group intensive focused teaching, self-regulation strategies, etc.).

Qualifications • Minimum 5 years teaching with leadership experience.

• Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certified • Holds a Specialist Part 3 in Special Education • Qualified/experienced in administering student academic assessment.

Recently, the GTA has seen another wave of produce from Israel at local Supermarkets. Most predominately, fresh herbs and citrus fruits have become available at supermarkets that are central to the Jewish community.

The aforementioned items are subject to the laws of separating Terumos and Maaseros. The laws of separating Terumos and Maaseros are not as complex as Shemittah and can be dealt with without too much difficulty so that Israeli produce can be enjoyed.

Fruit is additionally subject to the laws of Orlah, which prohibits the consumption of fruit borne to the tree for the first three years and mandates redemption of the fruit in the fourth. At this time, we do not have to suspect that the aforementioned fruit are Orlah because the vast majority of these species are not borne in the first three years.

COR disseminates updates and information on this topic through its Kosher Insider’s Email Group. The objective of the email group is to provide current information as to the types and location of Israeli produce in the GTA. This group also reports on Yoshon Updates as well as a number of other special interest kashrus topics. It is important that we keep our eyes open when we shop. Israeli produce will be recognizable through a sticker indicating the country of origin on the surface of the fruit or vegetable. Canadian labeling law does require that a supermarket display the country of origin through appropriate signage, but signage is not always accurate.

Printed or photocopied Torah material from Chumashim, Gemarahs, commentaries of the Sages, Torah articles that are distributed weekly, Parsha sheets, homework which has Torah content, & book covers that are removed from holy books, or other parts of a holy book.

3. Holy Objects:

Tefillin straps, covers, and bags; Mezuzah wrappings and casings; Torah mantles and sashes.

Not Shaimos:

Yarmulkas, audio or video materials, computer disks, diagrams or pictures without text. Newspapers are not shaimos. Only the Divrei Torah are Shaimos.

For any further halachic questions, contact your Rabbi. * There is a fee of $10.00 per shopping bag.

Under no circumstances should any bag be left or placed in the parking lot before or after hours of collection. If any bag is left there, it is a matter of ‫גניבה‬, besides the fact that it is a ‫בזיון הקודש‬- (desecration of the holy name).
