Vice-Chancellor Report from the 2025-26

Good afternoon,

Honourable Guests, Distinguished Chancellor, Trustees, Members of the Board of Management, Deans, Colleagues, and the Graduating Class of 2026 and their families, to the 12th Convocation Ceremony of Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, Delhi-NCR.

I am honoured to welcome as our Chief Guest, Mr. C. Vijayakumar, CEO & Managing Director, HCLTech, who stands among the most respected leaders in the global technology industry; a strategist of rare clarity and a builder of enduring enterprise whose leadership has shaped the evolution of modern IT services.

He began his professional journey with HCLTech in 1994 as a Senior Technical Engineer, at a time when the company was transitioning from hardware to services. Early in his career, he demonstrated an instinct for identifying emerging opportunities, stepping into infrastructure services when the field was still nascent. As part of the founding team of HCL Comnet, he contributed to building the technology backbone of the National Stock Exchange, enabling India’s first electronic trading platform.

Widely recognised for his leadership, he has been honoured as India’s Best CEO in IT Services and has been ranked among the leading CEOs globally by respected industry forums. He serves on influential global platforms, including the World Economic Forum IT Governors’ Community and the US-India Business Council, contributing to the broader dialogue on technology and economic progress.

Under his stewardship, HCLTech continues to advance towards a digital-first future, driven by innovation, investment in future-ready talent, and a commitment to building resilient, forward-looking enterprises.

It is also my privilege to confer Honorary Doctorate of Science on Bharat Ratna Professor C.N.R. Rao, one of India’s most celebrated scientists, who stands as an institution in himself - a science leader and institution builder whose work has shaped not just disciplines, but the direction of India’s scientific inquiry.

Among the world’s foremost figures in solid-state and materials chemistry, Professor Rao serves as National Research Professor, Honorary President, and Linus Pauling Research Professor at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR).

His work has defined the frontiers of materials science over several decades, including seminal contributions to carbon nanotubes, nanostructured materials, superconductivity, and complex oxides.

And now, in this stellar gathering, it is my honour to present some highlights of 202526 (July 1 2025 to March 31 2026)
