by Sam Gillen and Sam Edwards
Miss Pye is currently a tutor in Skipwith House and teaches psychology to GCSE and A level students. Sam Edwards and I thought we would ask a series of questions with regard to her background, choice of university and how that influenced her decision to be here today; with a brief mention of the recent well known Netflix series, Squid Game! We hope you enjoy getting a small insight into Miss Pye’s journey into teaching…

Question: What subjects did you do at A level?
“Psychology, PE, Biology and French. However, I dropped French.”
Question: Why did you decide to specialise in Psychology over the other 3?
“It's not actually that interesting, it was just my best subject which I was getting better grades in, but I ended up being really really happy with the decision that I made.”
Question: What University did you go to?
“I went to Stirling University in Scotland. Bit of a random choice but I wanted to get as far away as possible. Had I not gone to Stirling I would have gone to Liverpool.”

Question: What made you decide to go into teaching after that?
“I was going to go into sports science but I decided not to. My brother was at a school in Wokingham and they were looking for a psychology teacher and I kinda just fell into it doing the training for the job.”
Question: Was psychology the first thing you were thinking of going into?
“No, I was thinking of going into sports psychology first but I decided not to.”
Question: What brought you to Shiplake?
“At a school in Wokingham, I met Mr Ebbage who was already working at Shiplake. The job came up at Shiplake and I thought I would take it up. There is a distinct beautiful atmosphere, everyone is really nice and there are lots of dogs. I love dogs.”
We would like to thank Miss Pye for taking some of her time to let us find out more about her. If there were any questions that you would like to ask, or are curious about Miss Pye’s educational journey, I'm sure she would be happy to tell you more!.
Question: Who was your favourite character in the Netflix series, Squid Game? Did you think the violence was justified?
“Sang-woo was my favourite. I think the violence was normal for your age group as this is a lot of what your age is already watching regardless.”

Like Timo Werner, Miss Pye could have gone to Liverpool. Unlike Zach, Miss Pye’s favourite Squid Game character is Sang Woo.
