Fiddle Frenzy 10th Anniversary

4 – 11 AUGUST 2013 STudent

PROGRAMME

Welcome to Fiddle Frenzy 2013. Now it’s 10th year, Shetland Arts’ Fiddle Frenzy is a summer school centered on teaching the tunes and techniques of the distinctive Shetland fiddle style. Learning from local players, within Shetland itself provides the opportunity to be immersed within the Shetland’s traditional music culture. At the beginning of August each year, students travel from all over the world to learn the distinctive Shetland fiddle tunes and style, taught by local players. We are delighted to be celebrating our 10th year in the festival’s new home, Mareel, Shetland’s new music and cinema venue. With classes also delivered in the adjacent Shetland Museum and Archives, Lerwick’s historic waterfront area will provide the perfect base for a week of traditional music festivities. “It’s an honour and a pleasure to have been invited to curate this year’s festival and we’re very excited to present a programme of tuition, concerts and fringe events. We very much hope you have an enjoyable and memorable week as we celebrate the 10th birthday party of Shetland Fiddle Frenzy!” Jenna & Bethany Reid
