About She Stories

She Stories is a community of women that promotes self wellness, empowerment and the value of supporting each other You have overcome tremendous obstacles Telling your story brings healing for you and others There is empowerment in every story We are Real Women with Real Stories What started out as a storytelling night has transformed into a sisterhood From gatherings to giving back, we inspire and affirm the every day woman that she is brave and beautiful

Our Founder

In 2017, I decided to carry on the tradition of testimony service and share this amazing gift of storytelling from my elders to my tribe I provided a sacred space for women to share their challenges and victories so they can not only be empowered but through each story women would find a circle of support and empowerment Her story matters and the world needs to hear it -

She Stories has always been about women sharing their stories through storytelling. (Yeah, that’s me with a box of tissue) We believe there’s healing that happens when we share our stories. We all have one!

By sharing our stories, we prove that it’s possible to shift change through another woman’s journey, struggles, and triumphs.

Elevating women of all ages is powerful. Compassion and love speaks volumes. And when they’re combined among a community of bosses, we ALL thrive! XO,

Inthisissue FEATUREFRIDAY

It’s our favorite day of the week here at She Stories! Feature Friday!! And we’re doing what we do by honoring queens who have continued to lift women as they climb to new heights themselves.

That’s one of the core values of this week’s feature, Tamika Thomas. She’s built her empire on ”helping women heal their past, elevate their mindset, and restore their relationships” She’s a cheerleader for those who need someone in their corner.

Tamika hasn’t always been in the sunlight, but the light she brings can shut out any hints of darkness. This week is a firecracker with a huge heart and an amazing smile.

TAMIKA THOMAS

It would probably be easier to tell you what she doesn’t do because this week’s feature does EVERYTHING! She’s a mother, a 6-time author, a mentor, a life and relationship coach, a wife, and an inspirational speaker I’ve been able to see Tamika speak before and all I can say is this peach has some punch Her voice is big, but it’s the love and transparency that’s carried out through her words She speaks life and rejuvenates the spirit, and by the time she’s done, you feel the energy is warm and uplifted As women, we’re often asked to defend our rights, our bodies, our emotions, and our mental health. Tamika gives strength to women, young and old, who may find themselves beaten in life.

The resilience she’s grown within herself comes from hardships she experiences early in life. As a young girl, she enjoyed running and was pretty fast! Growing up, she felt this was her superpower and she often looked up to Florence “Flo Jo” Joyner because of her speed and beauty. Even though Tamika found strength in her speed, she often endured physical and sexual abuse at home, “which made me feel unwanted, unloved, and unseen”. As she got older, this led her to

some unhealthy relationships because she found herself seeking the unconditional love that she didn’t feel as a young girl She struggled to find her voice and her own strength. This later led to a suicide attempt and a serious cry for help after she experienced a stroke. “Looking back, it has been somewhat like a tsunami.” One small shift that effects the next shift and so on until you have a huge tidal wave and you’re pulled under.

It’s truly inspiring to see someone overcome a difficult past and become a strong individual. It takes a lot of resilience, determination, and courage to rise above the challenges that life throws our way. It’s clear that she has worked hard to overcome her troubled childhood and has emerged as a powerful force to be reckoned with. Her strength is a testament to her character and serves as an inspiration to others who may be facing similar struggles.

And that’s exactly who she is! Tamika realized that they only way she was going to end this vicious cycle in her life was to stop using her struggles as crutches, and to use them as steps to the next level. Having that epiphany caused her to take a look at her life and the big picture Even though it took her some time to cross the bridge from unloved to self love, she’s been able to teach women to do the same She travels all over, speaking at schools, churches, women’s events, and domestic violence shelters giving a breath that has probably saved a few lives

We are such resilient creatures as women We were made to withstand severe trials Even though we may feel broken at times, we have the ability in ourselves to patch our wounds and keep movin And Tamika is one of those women that will help you clear your lenses so that you can see your way She has dedicated herself to showing women how to turn their trials into treasures!

That’s a beautiful way to reframe the difficulties that you face in life! By calling them treasures, you are acknowledging that these challenges have the potential to enrich your life and make you stronger This positive mindset will help you navigate the ups and downs of life with grace and gratitude

And Tamika isn’t done yet! She’s also added a relationship coach to her agenda! She reminds women to seek fulfillment in themselves and love themselves in it will manifest healing and unconditional love. She’s out here doing God’s work, and we’re here for all of it!

Tamika reminds us that a transformative experience can often help us make better life choices and live a more fulfilling life, but to also be open to new experiences and opportunities, and to always prioritize your happiness and wellbeing!

“Looking back, it has been somewhat like a tsunami.”
WE LOVE YOU TAMIKA!!!

Here’s 10 ways to honor women’s history

Remembering our roots is essential to understanding who we are and where we come from Our past shapes our present and influences our future It provides us with a sense of identity and belonging.

By acknowledging our heritage, we can gain a deeper appreciation for our ancestors and their struggles. We can also learn from their experiences and apply their knowledge to our own lives Additionally, understanding the history of our culture, traditions, and values can help us better connect with our community and build stronger relationships

Furthermore, remembering where we came from can inspire us to pave the way for future generations. By recognizing our history, we can identify areas where progress has been made and areas where there is still room for improvement. This can motivate us to work towards a better future for ourselves and for those who will come after us

Here are some ways you can honor women’s history:

Learn about the achievements and contributions of women in history.

Celebrate and acknowledge the accomplishments of women in your own family or community.

Visit historical sites or museums dedicated to women's history. Read books written by women about women's experiences.

Support and participate in women's advocacy groups or organizations

Educate others about the importance of women's history and the need for gender equality.

Encourage young girls to embrace their potential and pursue their dreams

Share stories of women who have made a positive impact on society

Vote and advocate for policies that support women's rights and equality. Recognize and challenge gender stereotypes and biases.
