INTRODUCTION

capitalism "SOCIALISM ISNT ABOUT TAKING WEALTH FROM THOSE WHO WORK HARD AND GIVING IT TO THOSE WHO DONT. YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT CAPITALISM." SITES AND SPACES, WHETHER VOLUNTARILIY OR IVOLUNTRILY, EVOKE EMOTIONS WITHIN THE MINDS OF IT'S INHABITANTS. PASAR KARAT, A DARK YET COMPLEX SPACE DEFINITELY STIRRED UP FEELINGS OF ANXIETY AND RESTLESSNESS AT THE SITE OF THE SELLERS. IN HERE, I WILL EXPLORE PASAR KARAT IN A DEEPER MANNER AND BRING A NARRATIVE CHANGE TO THE SITE.

PHASE I SITE ANALYSIS NARRATIVE

BOARD 1

THE FIRST BOARD TAKES INSPIRATION FROM THE FILM POSTER PARASITE IN WHICH THE KIM FAMILY ARE REPRESENTED AS THE ITEMS SOLD AT PASAR KARAT WHILE THEY FAMILY THE WORKED FOR ARE REPLACED WITH LUXORIOUS ITEMS OWNED BY THE BUYERS.

2 The second board explores the significant difference in the placements of the buyers and sellers where the buyers are seated on the floor as the sellers walk with their heads up. In the board it can be seen that the lower class are at the bottom of the balloon, keeping it afloat as the upper class are rested comfortably above.

The third board is a reenactment of the people at Pasar Karat, all placed in one building to further emphasize the lines that divide them.

PHASE 2 SPACIAL IDEATION

THE SPECIAL IDEATION IS A MECHANISM IN WHICH THERE IS A MAZE (BLACK) THAT REPESENTS THE HARDSHIPS EVERYONE SHOULD GO THROUGH IN ORDER TO DESERVE THE FLOATING FREEDOM OF COMFORT WHICH IS REPRESSENTED AS A SLIDE IN WHITE THE BLACK MODEL CONSISTS OF UPWARDS MOVEMENTS THAT REQUIRE MORE EFFORT AND THE WHITE CONSISTS OF DOWNWARD WHICH TAKES LITTLE TO NO EFFORT TO OPPERATE

THE COLORS CHOSEN SPEAK FOR ITSELF, IN WHICH THE DARK MODEL IS INTIMIDATING WHILE THE WHITE RADIATES COMFORT AND EASE

PHASE 3 DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

ANTI CAPITALIST ESCAPE ROOM Eventually, a space was designed along the way. The first floor is divided into two parts in which the first half seems like a competition between the two teams. However they eventually reach the second half where they need to work together to solve the puzzle and eventually obtain the reward at the end.

Bottom floor plan The theme of teamwork comes to play when the puzzle requires the corporation and communication of both teams to open the gate that locks the stairway to the upstairs. This is to represent, both the upper and lower class going through the same amount of effort and challenges that is deserving of a ocmfortable life.

Top floor which consists of the rewards and exit.

My goal was to create a fun place where there is no loosing team.

Instead both parties are on equal level as long as there is teamwork and effort put in by the members of the two groups

3D CUBE INSPIRED MAZE. A clump of basic shapes that eventually form a functional space

FIRST HALF OF HOUSE

The maze is made up of many displaced cubes that takes inspiration from a labrinth maze and a 3d Rubics cube. Each cube has it's own special puzzle that needs to be solved in order to get the code that eventually unlocks the door to the next part of the house. The initial part of the house seems like a competition between two teams but that is not the case later on.

SECOND HALF OF HOUSE The two rooms are divided by a two way door that can only be opened by obtaining the key on opposite ends.

This is where communication and team work comes to play between the two teams.

In the end both teams reach the top floor and and have to solve the final puzzle to get the rewards. The twisting of the gears drops down a weight that unlocks the exit door, The twist is also that the rewards are placed in the 3d rubicks cube and slowly unravels as the cube opens and drops the weight

ESCAPE ROOMS.

Overall this whole project was such a fun experience as it helped me not only improve my artistic talent but also dive deeper into story telling and site analysis. I also was allowed to understand the film Parasite and relate to to the happenings of the world.
