Peter Pincus’ elegant ceramics are instantly recognizable as his alone. The slip-cast porcelain vessels that make up Inset build on Pincus’ exploration of the history of ceramics, his technical expertise and understanding of color.
Pincus’ multifaceted, elegant and eccentric vessel forms are divided and defined by colored porcelain. Molds as complicated as a jig saw puzzle create his forms and patterns, fitting them together perfectly. The result is a dynamic perceptual experience and a completely new intimate tactile Op art object.
The work of Peter Pincus can be found in numerous private and public collections including the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Sedalia, MO; ASU Art Museum Ceramics Research Center; Tempe, AZ; Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse, NY; The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX. He received his BFA and MFA from Alfred University, Alfred, NY.
