ARE YOU A
GIVER? By: Sherri Leopold
I believe all exceptional things in life descend from living your life as a pure giver. We hear the phrase 'It's better to give than to receive,' but what does that really mean?
Truthfully, we all love to receive. This timeless adage resonates deep within our souls, for it speaks to the joy that floods our hearts when we selflessly give to others.
While receiving certainly brings happiness, the act of giving unlocks a profound sense of fulfillment that lingers in our souls. It helps define who we are. That fulfillment takes root and blossoms repeatedly. Let's delve into the characteristics of what being a giver looks like.
ISSUE 4

Being a giver surpasses the realm of material exchanges. It transcends mere finances, compassion, or physical possessions. At its core, being a giver emanates from a place of boundless empathy, selflessness, and service. It’s not simply giving a homeless person a five dollar bill, it's stopping and having a conversation, helping them to feel human and valued. Givers will be evident by a collection of

deeds woven with acts of kindness, support, and unwavering generosity, regardless of the resources at their disposal. Time will always be our most valuable resource we are able to share. It will also be the one that is most valued as a gift from the receiver. That receiver is aware there are an infinite number of other ways you could spend your time, but you choose to spend it on them and with them. That is true giving. We can always make more money, but we will never be able to make more time. Time is precious and finite. A giver acknowledges the value of it, and freely gives it. They will be the first to volunteer, first to set up, and the last one helping clean up. A giver will selflessly share the gift of time knowing that time has its own limits.
A giver's heart beats with an authentic desire to nurture the well-being of others without seeking reciprocity.

loving hand and a guiding spirit to a better place.Givers always lead from the front, but givers travel in packs. No one is left behind, because a giver will always have another giver who will make sure of it. They will always invest time in relationships. It’s an everyday occurrence for a giver to provide a word of encouragement, a listening ear, and an open mind, along with a judgment free zone to communicate in.
Furthermore, being a giver evokes a chain reaction of positivity. This can be done by the simple act of smiling. A giver will always smile more than anyone else in the room. Smiling is contagious, so pass it on. A giver's essence kindles a flame within those around them, igniting a collective spirit of compassion and empathy. This explosive positivity fosters communities bound by an unbreakable bond, driven to support and uplift one another. It’s like a joy bond with giving as the glue.
It is the true meaning of elevating your network. When you surround yourself with givers, you create a culture of giving and literally change the world together. This community creates more smiling, more fun, more happiness, and more love. These are all components of the chain reaction of positivity. While our hearts cherish the joy of receiving, it is in embracing the essence of a giver that we unlock the true depths of our own predictive happiness.
ISSUE 4
The act of giving knits together our lives, interweaving our souls with the lives of those we touch. It kindles a fire within us, fueling a sense of purpose and gratitude that sets our spirits ablaze. By nurturing a giver's heart, we not only enrich our own lives, but also illuminate the world with a radiant, transformative glow.
A giver believes that each day is a new beginning, a fresh start.
WOW WARRIOR 07

2023
A giver will always look for ways to improve every thought and everything they do. Givers value progress over perfection. When a giver knows better they can do better. They will always seek to learn more, striving to improve themselves on a daily basis. As a giver, one will always hold themselves personally responsible and accountable for their success and their temporary defeats. These temporary defeats are not allowed to define the giver. In fact, when a giver is in the middle of a temporary defeat, that's when you are most likely to see them serving someone else, giving their time to help someone, encouraging someone to smile or laugh.
Givers deliberately control their self-talk, especially self-bullying. Because they understand their power to influence, they know that they WIN or lose by the words they choose. It’s why they will call others out when they hear them speaking disparaging words. Givers want YOU to win, too!
A giver strongly desires to help you have a more fulfilling life, one that is filled with predictive happiness, massive freedom, and greatness. It's also why they will sacrifice so much time for someone else’s greater good and consider time spent with a friend worthwhile. While they spend their precious time with you, have no doubt they will teach you how to do the same. They want to ignite the pure gift of giving in you. Why? So you too can increase your own happiness, greatness and freedom!

THE PROFOUND IMPACT OF 3 SMALL CHANGES By: Sheri Brinkmeyer
I recently had a friend message me excited to tell me something amazing she discovered about her health. She learned that
simply prioritizing sleep was helping her sleep better overall and regulated her period for the first time in years.
IN MY GROUP PROGRAM WE ARE DOING A HYDRATION CHALLENGE. One member had been struggling with chronic constipation, and she realized that when she prioritized drinking ample water her constipation quickly went away. Another noticed that her energy levels increased. Early in my practice, I considered needing to run a stool test on a client who had profound bathroom emergencies. We both assumed a nasty bacterial overgrowth was at play. But when we started where we always do - eating hygiene and working on a

SELF CARE - WHERE IT ALL BEGINS
When people mention self care, thoughts often go to health spas with relaxing massages and facials, going on a retreat/vacation, or 'treating' yourself to a makeover. And while all of these things do fall into the category of treating yourself, they aren't actually self care. well except maybe the massage.
True self care is the cornerstone of moving your health from fine to fantastic and Involves picking from a whole buffet of actions that serve you: going to bed when you first feel sleepy, avoiding foods that hurt your belly or make you fatigued after eating them, eating more fresh whole foods that make you feel good, spending time with people who accept and love you, being in nature, talking nicely to yourself, and setting boundaries. And yes, even bubble baths. What this second list has that the first lacks is that most options involve simply making better choices that you have to make anyway (such as eating!) and they are much more budget friendly in nature overall. Hydration
Our bodies may seem inactive while we sleep, but they are actually incredibly busy taking care of tasks they just can't do well (or at all) when we are awake. In fact, sleep is so important that I dedicated an entire article in a previous issue to ways to help you naturally get better sleep.
Hydration is another form of self care that has a profound effect on your health. In fact, being even mildly dehydrated can lead to sluggish bowels and mind. That's right! Constipation, which is defined as not easily pooping at least once a day, and brain fog can be symptoms of inadequate hydration. Next to inadequate sleep, any level of dehydration Is a major stressor on the body.

Other reasons to be well hydrated include the necessity of water in the function and health of all vital organs, reduced joint pain, regulated body temperature and blood pressure, lessened allergy symptoms, and a better ability to flush toxins and move nutrients into cells and around the body.

And while there is no universally agreed upon amount of water that everyone needs each day, a good starting point is half your body weight in ounces of water. Now of course, simply drinking water doesn't mean you are well hydrated, but not drinking water or other hydrating liquids is a good way to stress out your body!
Mindful eating is a buzz term in many health circles...and for a good reason. Simply being fully present in the act of eating has a whole host of benefits in the body. Digestion begins in the mind and with the nervous system. When you are stressed, your body shifts its resources from activities such as digestion to activities that keep you alive in the moment. One of the best ways to tell your nervous system you are safe? Really thinking about, smelling, looking at, and feeling gratitude for your meal.
WOW WARRIOR 14

As you smell you meal, take nice deep belly breaths to really pause and enjoy the aroma. Not Only deep breathing is an easy way to pause, but you can't breathe like that when you are being chased and your survival isn't guaranteed. Which makes deep breathing an easy way to let your nervous system know that you are truly safe.
When you are eating, you really only get to enjoy the food before you swallow it. So chewing really well and savoring the flavor in your mouth not only brings greater enjoyment, but if you are struggling with digestive issues, you have just made the job of your entire digestive system easier by chewing your food well! In fact, I've had clients go from having major gas and bloating to experiencing zero to minor digestive issues simply by practicing mindful breathing and through chewing.

Your voice is more than the sound that comes out when you speak. It's a reflection of your inner self, your beliefs, and your values. If you're like many of us, the fear of judgment, low self-esteem, and the need for external validation often hinder us from using our voices effectively. It's not about shouting from the rooftops; it's about speaking your truth and expressing your thoughts and feelings authentically. We often share similar struggles, yet don’t often speak about them. The fear of judgment, low selfesteem, and the insatiable desire for external validation often stand as barriers to harnessing the full potential of our voices.
ISSUE 4
These fears, especially the fear of judgment, are often paralyzing, as if a spotlight is cast upon our every word, making us question whether we'll be met with approval or criticism. This fear can lead to self-censorship, causing us to withhold our thoughts, ideas, and feelings, and ultimately robbing us of the chance to express our true selves. Low self-esteem often seeps into our thoughts and emotions, sowing the seeds of self-doubt and insecurity. It whispers doubts about our abilities, constantly reminding us of our perceived shortcomings and not being “enough.” As a result, we find ourselves reluctant

The need for external validation can also be a pervasive force that shapes the way we use our voices. We may seek approval from others as a measure of our self-worth. This external reliance can lead to a life in which our voices are not genuine but are tailored to meet the expectations and desires of those around us. In this process, we can lose sight of our true selves and become ensnared in a cycle of people-pleasing, further alienating us from our authentic voices. meet the expectations and desires of those around us. In this process, we can lose sight of our true selves and become ensnared in a cycle of peoplepleasing, further alienating us from our authentic voices. In the journey of personal transformation, your voice emerges as the catalyst that can lead you out of the shadows of fear, low selfesteem, and external validation. It's the key to unlocking your true potential. When you find the courage to speak your truth and share your authentic self, you not only empower yourself but inspire those around you to do the same. When people hear you, they are hearing the hidden part of themselves that has laid dormant for many years. You are giving people hope and showing them the life they want for themselves is out there waiting for them.
Embracing your voice means recognizing that perfection is an illusion. You need not strive for unattainable ideals. Instead, it's about celebrating your imperfections, accepting your uniqueness, and understanding that your voice reflects your journey. It's the mirror that shows your growth, your experiences, and your evolving beliefs. Your voice is proof of your resilience, your strength, and your individuality.

BREAKING FREE FROM FEAR AND LOW SELF-ESTEEM
Accepting yourself is key. Embrace who you are…all of it. We all have different components that make us unique. You are no different. You wouldn’t sit there and point out your best friend’s flaws, so stop pointing out your own. Negative self-talk will stop you in your tracks every time and keep you from living the life you desire. Change the narrative and change your life.
ISSUE 4
When you do you will start to see your value as others see it and gain more confidence along the way. Here is an exercise to help you out. Look in the mirror, take a deep breath, and release. While looking in the mirror start listing the qualities (nonphysical) that you like about yourself and say them aloud. I.e.: You are smart. You are strong. You are worthy. You are deserving. You get the picture. Now, instead of saying “you are,” say “I am” for each statement you listed. Own your strengths and acknowledge your vulnerabilities without judgment. As you continue your path of personal transformation, remember that your voice is your most potent ally. It's the tool that will lead you toward selfdiscovery and self-empowerment. It's the instrument that will connect you with a community of like-hearted souls who celebrate your authenticity. Your voice has the power to shape your life, transform your relationships, and inspire others to do the same. By finding and using your authentic voice, you are taking the first step toward a more empowered, fulfilling, and transformative journey of self-discovery.

Ensure all your software, including the operating system, antivirus, and applications, are up to date. New updates often include security patches and performance improvements, keeping your system running smoothly. Picture software updates like vitamins for your computer—they keep it healthy and running smoothly! Just like taking your vitamins daily, make it a habit to update your software regularly. Your computer will thank you and might even perform a victory dance when it's all up-to-date.
REGULAR BACKUPS:
Set up a regular backup schedule for your important files and data. Consider using cloud storage or an external hard drive. This ensures that even if something goes wrong, your important information is safe. Backing up your data is like having a safety net for your computer, kind of like a superhero's sidekick. Over time, your computer can accumulate unnecessary files, leading to slower performance. Think of your computer's storage as a closet—eventually, it gets cluttered with things you don't need. Schedule a "spring cleaning" for your digital space. Run a full scan regularly to make sure no sneaky bugs are crashing your computer's party. After all, nobody likes uninvited guests.

Hardware Checkup: Consider a physical checkup for your computer. Clean the dust from vents and fans, ensure proper ventilation, and check for any signs of hardware wear and tear. If needed, replace components like batteries or hard drives nearing the end of their lifespan. Show your computer some love with a spa day! Dust off those vents and fans—they've been working hard. At the same time, grill the corn until lightly browned, turning to cook all sides, 4 to 5 minutes. 5. Transfer the zucchini and squash to a cutting board and finely dice, then empty into a large bowl. 6. Cut the kernels from the corn and add to the bowl along with the beans and the yellow and red tomatoes. 7. Add 1/4 cup vinaigrette and toss to coat. Season with salt and pepper and toss again. 8. Serve at room temperature or cold. ISSUE 4

Five Ways to Party without Prosecco
DECEMBER
2023
BY: ANNA CHARLES Champagne flute in hand, I danced the night away with my new husband until collapsing into bed at 4 am. My head was spinning when I fell asleep and I greeted the first morning of married life with a parched mouth and thumping head. My husband and I decided to marry on New Year’s Eve for two reasons: a) we’d never forget our anniversary and b) there would always be a party somewhere. And boy is it the time to party. Wherever you look the message is clear: eat, drink and be merry before the restriction and misery of Dry January.
ISSUE 4
WOW WARRIOR 45
DECEMBER
But if you struggle to party without prosecco this can be a fraught time of year, as I well know. After 27 years of excess I decided enough was enough and completely changed my relationship with alcohol. I now help high achievers stop overdrinking – whether to moderate or go sober – so here are my five top tips to successfully navigate the party season:
New year, new plans: There is tremendous value in planning. After all, we plan what we’ll wear to the party, how we’ll get there, who’s going to babysit the kids, what gifts we’ll bring … so plan your drinks too.
2023
There’s no ‘right’ answer - just what you want for yourself. So decide that in advance. Take this deeper by watching my free video series: 3 Key Things to Get Your Drinking Under Control.
Holiday-ify your view of fun: We are conditioned to believe that drinking at a party = fun and that not drinking = boring. Things changed for me when I realised that drinking on repeat was boring. Worrying when I could top up my glass was boring. Feeling hungover in the morning was boring. Being stuck in the same problem was boring.
Why? Because drinking intentionally feels totally different to drinking mindlessly. It becomes a choice that you control rather than something you just do. Here’s how: Imagine you call me in January to talk about your New Year’s Eve - “Anna, I did this … !!” What do you want to say? That you abstained? That you had a glass of champagne and that’s it? That you drank three glasses of wine with dinner and were alcohol free the rest of the evening?
ISSUE 4
WOW WARRIOR 46
DECEMBER
2023
What was fun? Listening to people at the party, that’s fun. Dancing without embarrassing myself, that’s fun. Being able to drive home, that’s fun. Feeling proud of myself, that’s fun. Waking fresh as a daisy, that’s fun. H e r e ’ s h o w : F o c u s o n w h a t y o u ’ r e g a i n in g r a t h e r t h a n w h a t y o u ’ r e l o s in g . W h o w i l l y o u talk to and what about? How will it feel to actually listen to people instead of nodding along while you think about your next drink? How will it feel to see yourself bossing it?
Make a new mind movie: W e ’ r e r e a l l y g o o d a t v i s u a l is in g w o r s t c a s e s c e n a r io s . W e w o rry t h e p a r t y ’ s g o i n g t o b e a d i s a s t e r . W e s e e o u r s e l v e s in t h e c o rn e r e a t i n g a l l t h e s n a c k s , b o r e d a n d d e p r iv e d . N o w o n d e r w e f i n d i t hard to party without booze. I n s t e a d m a k e a n e w m i n d m o v ie o f y o u h a v i n g a l l t h e f u n w it h o u t all the alcohol. This is just as p o s s i b l e a n o u t c o m e , i t ’ s j u s t a b it harder to imagine as you’re not used to it. So intentionally see y o u r s e l f s u c c e s s f u l l y n a v i g a t in g the party, drinking no more than you planned. Here’s how: Decide what you want to experience. Write it down. S h a r e i t w i t h s o m e b o d y . P r a c t ic e seeing it in your mind ahead of time. Really practice feeling yourself having all the fun without overdrinking.

It doesn’t have to be carriages at midnight So many people use alcohol to p u s h o n t h r o u g h t h e e v e n in g when they’d prefer to leave; others stay at home, fearing all the temptation of a party they c a n n o t l e a v e u n t i l m i d n i g h t . T h is is anything but fun. Here’s how: Plan an exit strategy. Check in with how you’re feeling. When you’ve had enough, say your goodbyes and leave. If this means planning separate transport for yourself, so be it.
Remember you aren’t 14 anymore I used to dread that question. You know the one: ‘Why aren’t you drinking?’ How should I answer? What would people think if I said ‘water'? Would they think I was boring? (Something I secretly agreed with.) Would I feel left out? Would I crack and give in? Worrying what others are thinking steals our joy, is a pointless distraction and makes us feel bad. We want to keep this light and easy. We want to enjoy ourselves. So do yourself a favour and stop worrying about what other people think. You will feel more free, more alive and you’ll drink an awful lot less. (Besides, people really don’t care as much as you think. And if they do, they’re not your people.)
ISSUE 4
WOW WARRIOR 48
DECEMBER
Here’s how: Remind yourself: “I’m not 14 anymore. I’m done with following the crowd.” You can choose to say why you’re not drinking (if so, I recommend a planned and practiced response) or you can simply say: "I prefer not to’” You don’t owe anyone an explanation.
THE TIME IS NOW If you’re through with over drinking, this is your moment for change. Take action on just one of these five tips and you will start to feel more empowered and in control. It will also give you valuable proof that life with less (or no!) alcohol is more fun than you think.

I remember roaming the streets at night, watching out for the neighborhood. I would go window to window and peak in as I walked up and down the streets. One day a friend of mine asked if I was looking in her window the previous night. When I said yes, she asked me to stop because I frightened her. I remember having a sense of danger or that something really wasn’t right and finding the wisdom to avoid it.

A male member of my family was a lecherous person. I did not understand this but felt very uncomfortable around him and especially when my friends were around. I limited being around and never had my friends with me when he was there. I also remember not sharing these experiences with anyone. I did not know then that the miracles we get to experience in life are gifts and they are glorious. That there are guides watching over us and often trying to get through to us.
Let me share a few with you. I remember, as a young child, floating over my bed and watching me sleep. I was not feeling safe at the time and wanted to be sure that I knew what was happening at all times. The anxiety I was feeling pushed me to become my own sentry.

As holidays come and go, many of us get carried away with the chaos, the drama, or the expectations of who and what we should be during this time of year. You may carve out a few hours for worship, thankfulness, and love, but this is only a small portion of the hours spent in shopping, preparing, visiting, and angsting over all the pressure you feel.

How do you learn to hear your angel wings? I am asking you to stop, take a deep breath, and exhale all the tension you are feeling so you can listen to the angels around you in your life. So, you can hear the beating of their wings, hear the frequency of the soft sound they make, and feel the vibration of love washing over every part of your being.
Why are so many of us moved when we hear holiday music? It is because we remember what we once knew to be true. We remember the innocence of being a child and believing in magic. We remember what it felt like to smell the dirt, taste the sun, and wash in the rain. We remember warmth, tears of love, and being moved with every fiber of our being.
Isn’t it time to remember again? Isn’t it time to, once again, get wrapped in angel wings to feel safe?
Isn’t it time to hear the lullaby of the collective. The holiday song, Hark the Herald Angels Sing speaks to listening to what is always around you and amplified right now.

In research conducted in 2020 by the Pew Research Center, women earned 84 cents for every dollar earned by a man. Women of color earned even less. Older women faired unfavorably compared to younger women, signaling age discrimination, which is not easily measurable. Although the disparity in wage has decreased, from 64 cents per dollar in 1980, the gap continues to exist as women are more likely to be in low paying jobs.
The latter brings us to the barrier of sexism that women continue to face. I love the quote by Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister New Zealand, “One of the criticisms I’ve faced over the years is that I’m not aggressive enough or assertive enough or maybe somehow, because I’m empathetic, it means I’m weak. I totally rebel against that. I refuse to believe that you cannot be both compassionate and strong.”
Women who achieve higher ranking positions may find that she spends most of her time overcoming obstacles, proving her worth and/or defending her strategies and decisions. Seeking support within a company can be like walking a tightrope. If she tilts too far to the right, she can be perceived as too needy or incapable. If she tilts too far to the left, she can be perceived as is too manly, a ball buster, or unreasonable.
Facing sexism or stereotyped perceptions that women are too emotional, making us not fit to be leaders, that our emotions impede us from being decisive, which deems us as incompetent, can lead women to closing off their emotions and being somewhat frozen. This is when we need to ensure that we are not falling into reverse stereotypes, playing too hard so that we can be one of the good ole boys.
ISSUE 4
WOW WARRIOR 57

I recall that early in my leadership positions, I did not want to appear weak or a push-over. I felt that I needed to prove to senior leadership that I was on equal footing with the “boys”. I turned off the emotions. I became tough. I became competitive. I only wanted results. I got them, but I was disconnected from my team. It wasn’t until I had an amazing woman boss who challenged me, but also nurtured me, that I transformed my leadership style and built relationships. I became people focused. Empathetic. Sometimes vulnerable. My strength was never questioned by my staff, in fact, it made them trust me more. Being connected to our emotions position us to create inclusive working environments, allowing us to bring a broad perspective to the table. It allows us to

consider situations outside the norm that could impact the business and add risk to delivery. This broad perspective actually allows for well thought out decisions. That said, women must not quiet that voice inside of them that prevents them from being heard. They must step into the power of their ideas and ability to bring healthier conversations to the table that is important to moving the company forward as successful leaders.

That said, women must not quiet that voice inside of them that prevents them from being heard. They must step into the power of their ideas and ability to bring healthier conversations to the table that is important to moving the company forward as successful leaders. One other area where women can be stereotyped is when they need workplace accommodations such as maternity leave, or flexible hours for caring for children or a parent.
WOW WARRIOR 58
DECEMBER
Although male and females both seek flexible work arrangements where they work with their employers on where and when they work, and it has been even promoted as a workplace benefit, women are more likely to get penalized for asking for this benefit to take care of children or a parent. A study by Furman University’s Christin Munsch reports that men and women’s requests for flexible work arrangements were not considered the same. Men’s requests were approved about 70% of the time, whereas women’s requests were only approved about 57% of the time. The situation did not improve during the pandemic. This can make women feel like they are dismissed as leaders, or that they can’t be relied on for standing at the helm because of competing priorities. This disparity can also impact a

woman’s salary progression if she is not getting better assignments or promotions because of the perception that she can’t balance the needs of the corporation. So, what does this all mean? It means that we need to continue lobbying to close the gap on gender disparities in the workplace. Corporations should be required to offer diversity education in an effort to recognize and mitigate any discriminatory practices. Women need to have more developmental opportunities to attain coveted higherpaying, leadership roles. Corporations can also offer mentorship for women. There are many more policies that can be put into place so that we keep chiseling away to narrow the gap so that no gap exist.

Everyone is looking for secret ingredients for business success. While I do not claim to know them all there is one that some businesses often overlook, and that is corporate social responsibility, also called corporate citizenship. Before you decide that you should stop reading this article, since your business does not fall in the category of the traditional “BIG CORPORATE” company, here is where I want to prepare you for a change in thinking (so keep reading). William Clay Ford, Jr., great-grandson of Henry Ford and Executive Chair of Ford Motor Company states, “Creating a strong business and building a better world are not conflicting goals – they are both essential ingredients for long-term success.” Even a small business can help build a better world by starting right in their local community. Yes, your small business has what it takes to help make the world a better place!

Tis the season where everyone shares gifts and love! While you are in the spirit of giving and setting your business goals for 2024, I would like to encourage you to set a goal for your company to add (or increase) Corporate Social Responsibility. As an individual you may already be volunteering at a nonprofit, you give to charities and support your local church, as part of your personal value system, and for that I celebrate you.
My question is,
“Have you thought about how your business can support the local community?”
WOW WARRIOR 62
DECEMBER
In this article, I will discuss the benefits to a business that does what I like to call, “Heart Work”. The following is a list of corporate social responsibility strategies and benefits:
Strategy:
2023
RESEARCH AND CHOOSE A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION (WITH 501C3 STATUS) IN YOUR COMMUNITY TO SUPPORT.
You want to make sure that it is a cause that you are passionate about (but not politically controversial as this could have a negative impact on your business). You must be aware that there is a difference between what you choose to support as an individual and as a business. Benefit: You will be able to use it as a tax write-off (both monetarily and in-kind services).
Strategy:
PROMOTE YOUR COMPANY’S INVOLVEMENT WITH YOUR SELECTED NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.
You want to be sure to advertise to make your current customers and potential customers aware of your support and how they can become involved. Your company could support a local basketball, football, or baseball team, an afterschool program, or local Boys and Girls Club, just to name a few. Benefit: This is a public relations strategy that will shed light on your company’s commitment to not just profit from your community, but to invest in your community.

WOW WARRIOR 63

2023
IDENTIFY HOW YOU WILL SUPPORT THE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION.
Strategy: The ways that you can support the nonprofit, is as follows depending on the type of business you have (but not limited to): Service Industry: If you provide a service, you can offer in-kind services, such as bookkeeping, lawn care, or barbers/hairstylists for shelters and foster care homes, you can identify a nonprofit that could utilize your services. Brick-and-Mortar Businesses: If you have a brick-and-mortar business such as a boutique, auto repair shop, salon, and restaurant owners, you could advertise and run a promotion to commit a percentage of profits for the day to the nonprofit they choose to support (e.g. 5% of profits goes to support ABC Kids Shelter on 12/15). You could also involve your customers by sponsoring drives for toys, clothing, blankets, etc. Authors, Coaches, and New Business Owners: If you are an author, coach, or new business owner you could host an event for a book signing, new program launch, new product launch, or a grand opening, which will provide a way to gain exposure for your company and the nonprofit organization through various local media outlets (local radio stations, local online community event calendars, neighborhood, town or city newsletters and newspapers, etc.).

Strategy: If you want to support large national nonprofit organizations, such as the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, or American Breast Cancer Foundation, you could support the statewide or citywide events they sponsor throughout various times of the year, such as 5k walks, galas, balls, etc., help raise awareness, raise funds, while having fun. Benefit: You will not have to invest in sponsoring the event but will be able to capitalize on the social capital, media content, exposure, and recognition your company will gain for your support. I want you to soar beyond the “business as usual” mindset of selling a product or service and making a profit, to developing a brand reputation of a business that invests and serves in the local community. Do not just profit from the community, be profitable to the community. We need to take Mr. Ford’s advice, and add the essential ingredient of long-term success, build a strong business, and help build a better world. Nonprofit organizations’ mission is to further a social cause and provide a public benefit, but they cannot do it alone, they need your help. Business owner, I want to encourage you today to identify a cause, set your 2024 Corporate Social Responsibility Goal, and let us make the world a better place, one cause and one community at a time.

MAXIMIZING END-OF-YEAR TAX SAVINGS:
The Role of Commercial Real Estate and Depreciation

Introduction:
Written by: Jennifer Falloon
ISSUE 4
A
s the year draws to a close, individuals and businesses alike are searching for ways to optimize their financial strategies and minimize their tax liabilities. One often-overlooked avenue for
significant tax savings is through strategic investments in commercial real estate, coupled with the powerful tool of depreciation. In this article, we will delve into the importance of end-of-year tax savings, explain the concept of depreciation, and highlight how it can effectively keep tax bills down. Moreover, we'll explore why this should be a key goal for anyone facing high tax bills, with a focus on the opportunities presented by Vorsa Investments.

UNDERSTANDING DEPRECIATION: Depreciation is a key concept in the realm of taxation and real estate investment. It refers to the gradual loss of value of an asset over time due to wear and tear. While physical assets like machinery and equipment depreciate, commercial real estate provides a unique advantage – depreciation of the property itself. This non-cash expense allows investors to deduct a portion of the property's value annually, serving as a valuable tool for reducing taxable income.
HOW DEPRECIATION KEEPS TAX BILLS DOWN: Depreciation plays a crucial role in minimizing tax liabilities by offsetting income generated from the property. When property owners claim depreciation on their commercial real estate investments, it reduces their taxable income without requiring an actual cash outlay. This can result in substantial tax savings, as the depreciation deductions directly contribute to lowering the overall tax bill.

Consider a scenario where an investor owns a commercial property with a depreciable value of $1 million. Through depreciation, they may be eligible to claim a deduction of, for instance, $30,000 per year. Over time, this annual deduction accumulates, leading to significant tax savings. The lowered taxable income allows investors to retain more of their earnings and reinvest them in other ventures or further enhance their real estate portfolio.
THE GOAL FOR THOSE FACING HIGH TAX BILLS: For individuals and businesses grappling with high tax bills, prioritizing end-of-year tax savings through commercial real estate and depreciation becomes a strategic goal. The goal is not merely to minimize immediate tax liabilities but to establish a sustainable long-term strategy that leverages the benefits of depreciation and maximizes return on investment.

A REVOLUTION IN EDUCATION
Why hiring a tutor can harm your child’s lifelong Success. By: Kohila Sivas

Why Tutoring
FALLS SHORT
Tutoring, for many, has been the go-to solution when a child faces educational challenges. But let's address the elephant in the room: tutoring often falls short, and it's time we explore why. At Learning Success Academy, we've recognized the limitations of traditional tutoring and have embarked on a mission to revolutionize education.
A Band-Aid Solution Tutoring, in its essence, is like applying a Band-Aid to a deep wound. It may temporarily cover the problem, but it fails to address the underlying issues. When a child is struggling in school,

there's usually more to the story than what meets the eye. Is it a lack of motivation, a fundamental gap in understanding, or perhaps a disconnect between the child's learning style and the teaching methods employed? Tutoring seldom delves into these root causes.
THE DEPENDENCY TRAP
One of the most significant drawbacks of tutoring is the potential for dependency. Students can become reliant on their tutors to provide answers and guidance, which inhibits the development of independent learning skills. They memorize information without truly comprehending it, leading to a false sense of confidence that may crumble when faced with real-world challenges.
THE ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL APPROACH
Traditional tutoring often adopts a one-size-fits-all approach. Tutors typically follow a predetermined curriculum, leaving little room for customization to meet the unique needs of each student. In this model, students are missing out on the personalized attention and tailored support required for their success.

the well-being of my family. So, I carve out time for myself to recharge, whether it's through practicing mindfulness, engaging in my favorite hobbies, or simply taking a long, uninterrupted hot bath. By setting realistic goals, prioritizing tasks, and utilizing tools like calendars and to-do lists, I am able to effectively allocate my time and energy, ensuring that I have space for all the essential components of my life.
