Hot Summer Nights

Come celebrate summer with our FREE concert series- the 30th annual Hot Summer Nights! These shows take place every Thursday evening in June & July (with the exception of July 4th) on the Sherman Municipal Grounds Lawn and Gazebo and feature some big-name acts from a variety of genres. Our favorite local acts will kick off the show each week, with headliners to follow, then head to The Old Iron Post following the concert to enjoy the After Party, for more awesome live music! Grab your friends, family, and lawn chairs and get ready to enjoy some awesome Hot Summer Nights concerts in downtown Sherman! Pack a picnic, or just show up and enjoy the amazing food trucks that are ready to serve you all your favorite treats!

Father Son Campout

Dads, it is time for the annual Father Son Campout! It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your sons and with nature. If you do not own your own tent, please talk with Parks and Recreation to help ensure you do not miss this opportunity, supplies are limited.

This is The City of Sherman’s 15th Annual Independence Day Celebration, LIGHTS ON THE LAKE at Pecan Grove West Park! This will be the best year yet, we are so excited to bring you an incredible FREE concert by THE Beach Boys! 42nd Annual Sherman Arts Fest

Get ready for The City of Sherman’s 42nd Annual Arts Festival, RAIN or SHINE! It’s a fun-filled day for the entire family that kicks off with the Sherman Education Foundation’s 5K and Fun Run, then stick around to hear the awesome musical acts and live performances on both stages throughout the day! There will be tons of amazing food and beverage vendors, a huge Kids’ Alley, woodcarving, craft and marketplace vendors, children’s and adult art shows, Farmers Market, and more!

Youth Art Show

Do you have an artist in the family? The Youth Art show presented during Arts Fest, is a perfect time to show off these brilliant masterpieces. The contest is open to all kids under the age of 19. Artwork will be on display for the entire community to view. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each grade.

Youth Volleyball League

Sherman Parks and Recreation will join in the Red River Volleyball League this Fall! Players will be formed into teams and provided weekly practices and play games all around the greater Grayson county area.

Kickstarter is a soccer program for boys and girls between the ages of 3-4 who are looking to be introduced to the game of soccer.

All Level Basketball Camp

These camps are designed for the beginner to intermediate player to provide a high-quality training at an affordable cost! The camps are intended to better equip the athlete to participate in both league and school programs. These half day camps will develop and improve basketball skills including defending, shooting, blocking out, rebounding, dribbling, and passing. The goal for each camp is to provide a great learning experience in a warm, safe, patient, and most importantly FUN environment for players to improve their skills each week.

Middle School Prep Volleyball Camp

Join Coach Beasley for the Middle School Prep volleyball camp! The fundamentals of volleyball including; passing, serving, attacking, receiving, and overall game knowledge will be worked on during the week. The camp is designed to prepare athletes for Midlle School Volleyball. This camp should challenge the athletes prior to volleyball season starting!

Pickleball

Indoor Pickleball Clinic by Mark Tooley

Come learn about the fastest growing sport in America, pickleball. Played on a court, this sport is a cross between tennis and ping pong that is played as singles or doubles. New players are always welcome to come learn about the rules of the game and fundamental skills. Experienced players are welcome to join to enhance their skill.

Fitness and Wellness

Jazzercise

Every Jazzercize group dance fitness class combines dance-based cardio with strength training and stretching to sculpt, tone, and lengthen muscles for a maximum burn. Choreographed to today’s hottest music, Jazzercize is a fusion of jazz, dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, and kickboxing.

Beginners’ Yoga

In this class, you’ll embark on a journey to discover the foundations of yoga practice in a supportive and tranquil environment. Lisa Gregor, a board certified yoga instructor, will guide you through gentle asanas, breathing techniques, and relaxation exercises, helping you build flexibility, strength, and mindfulness.

Belly Dancing

In the class you will be taught by experienced instructors in the art of Belly Dancing. Students will use both slow movements and fast steps in this lowimpact weight bearing form of exercise. Students should wear yoga pants and a comfortable T-Shirt.

Tai Chi for Health

Tai Chi is a non-combative form of martial art focused on relaxation, balance, and strength. Transitioning slowly between movements makes this ideal for those that struggle with traditional forms of exercise. Class is taught by Debra Sullivan. Participants will leave feeling relaxed and with a better sense of balance.

The Sprayground at Hawn

The Sprayground at Hawn Park is open. Press the activator in front of the rainbow to start the water. The Sprayground cannot be reserved for private use. It is a free, first come first serve amenity.

Splish! Splash! It’s a summer bash! Join us at The Splash as we kickoff summer 2024 with music, games, and a chance to win a season pass!

Come spend the afternoon hunting sharks. Our staff will hide sharks throughout the facility (2 sharks every hour), find one and you will win a sharktastic prize! Don’t worry, if you can’t find a shark you can be a shark in our giant game of sharks and minnows at 2PM!

Lifesavin’ Superheroes

Calling all Superheroes! Swing on by and enjoy a fun and safe day in the sun. While you’re there, thank a lifeguard for keeping you safe while swimming at the pool. Throughout the day the Splash lifeguards will be demonstrating different skills and techniques of lifeguarding. We also want to thank our first responders for keeping our community safe. All first responders will receive free admission into The Splash!

Soggy Doggy Pool Pawty

Make plans for our annual pool pawty where your furry friends can cool off, socialize, and chase balls with their canine friends. Pups must be at least 6 months of age, and a certificate of rabies shot is required.

Parent/Child

If necessary, canceled morning classes will be rescheduled to the same time on Friday. Evening canceled classes will be rescheduled to Saturday morning from 8:30AM-10:30AM. Water

Students will become comfortable in the water with a parent/guardian.

Students will enter the water without a parent. Class topics focus on water adjustment, entry and exit from the water, floating and arm and leg action.

Students will begin using arm and leg action. Class topics focus on independently floating on both front and back and gliding with support.

Students will learn to coordinate arm and leg action with support.

Students will learn to float on front and back without support and simultaneously coordinate arm and legs independently.

Students will learn to swim 10-15 yards on his or her front and back. Backstroke, breaststroke, and sidestroke will be introduced.

Students will further develop strokes for distance. Treading water and open turns will be mastered. Butterfly stroke will be introduced.

Students will learn to swim 25 yards of front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke.

Students will learn to swim 50 yards of front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke. Jr.

Students will learn skills to prepare them for a lifeguard certification. Skills will include; in-water rescues, first aid, CPR and AED training.
