Executive Director's Message It has been an exciting time around the Warrenville Park District over the course of the past six months, and that excitement will continue moving into the Winter/Spring season. Beginning this November, at the Recreation Center, FitnessNOW will take on a new facelift which will provide us the opportunity to expand the fitness floor by over 33% and will allow us the space for additional stretching, equipment and personal training area. The registration desk will be relocated out into the lobby to provide a more central check in location and better flow to our building. A new vestibule will be constructed which will serve as a main entrance into the building off Warren Avenue. In addition, other areas of the building will be addressed including fitness equipment storage, ADA accessibility, and building control. During the construction phase the building will remain open along with the fitness center, so please pardon our dust during the process. When it is completed early next year I think the inconvenience will be worth the wait. This past October we also went thru the rigorous process of an audit conducted by the Illinois Association of Park Districts and Illinois Parks and Recreation Association for Distinguished Accreditation. Accreditation is the culmination of a comprehensive evaluation that reviews adherence to best practices within the profession, and compliance to Illinois laws governing park district administration. Operational categories examined include general management, finance and business operations, facilities and parks, personnel, recreation services and legal. The desired result is to improve the quality of life for residents and to recognize those agencies that provide quality services. It is a great credit to the Board of Commissioners and Park District Staff that hold these standards in high regards, and we as a Park District will be recognized at the State Conference in January with this prestigious award. Last, but certainly not least, the Park District will be updating our strategic master plan in 2020. This document will provide the Park District with a vision and roadmap as we move forward over the next five years, and the needs of the community. This is an exciting time to not only reflect on how much the district has grown over time, but also the exciting things the future has in store. In 2020 we celebrate 30 Years as a Park District and are excited about where we are heading. As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, on how the Park District can better serve you, please feel free to contact me directly. S P R I N G Kayaking the DuPage Ages 13+ The DuPage County Forest preserve and the Warrenville Park District have teamed up to provide a unique kayaking experience. Learn the finer points of paddling while taking in an in-depth history lesson about the west branch of the DuPage River. All equipment and shuttle will be provided with the exception of water shoes/sandals with straps. Participants will meet at the Recreation Center parking lot. Bitty Basketball League Grades 1-2 This program has been designed to introduce boys and girls to fundamental skill development in a practice setting and through organized games. At this age level, participants play on 8-foot baskets and use a junior-sized ball. Teams will have one practice per week and play games against other teams on Saturdays once the season begins. Actual game and practice schedules will be scheduled once the teams are formed. All players will receive an end of season trophy and graduating 2nd graders will receive a brand new basketball and graduation certificate in addition to a trophy at the end of the season. IGLA Girls Spring Lacrosse Grades 1-8

Be part of a youth lacrosse league exclusively for girls. The emphasis of this program is to develop the girl within the sport of lacrosse. The goals of the program are to understand the rules of lacrosse, active teamwork, sportsmanship, and foster personal development in a respectful environment led by positive coaching. IGLA has adopted the US Lacrosse “PLAYERS FIRST” ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT MODEL which means smaller fields and a smaller number of players. Kids are more engaged, get more touches on the ball, and further develop their skills. A stick, hard ball, goggles and mouth guard required. This volunteer-coached program introduces the fundamentals of playing soccer through weekly practices and a six game schedule that emphasizes proper technique, knowledge of rules, participation, sportsmanship, and fun. Swing into Spring with the Warrenville Park District's 12'' pre-season double elimination softball tournament. This one day tournament is a great way to enjoy the fresh Spring weather. Registration includes choice of $75 check or large trophy to the tournament winner, umpire, scorekeeper, and two guaranteed games. Teams must pay in full at the time they register. Completed team roster must be turned in prior to your first tournament game. Teams will be notified of their initial game time prior to the tournament. 6 team maximum. Jillian Staton

Daphne graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science and is currently a Certified Personal Trainer through ACE. Being active is very important to her and she's been involved in many team sports including basketball, softball, volleyball, and kickball. Currently, she enjoys playing a variety of sports with her three children, as well as, biking, and softball. She's open and honest with her clients about what they need to do to accomplish their goals, while making it fun and challenging. She is in the process of becoming a Fitness Nutrition Specialist.

Jillian Staton has been training for 3yrs now after graduating from NIU with a Kinesiology degree in 2016. She has been boxing since 2011, and is personal training and group certified. Jillian has been active all her life playing soccer and enjoying doing anything active and new for fun! She enjoys being a fitness professional so she can help people believe in themselves and that they can achieve anything they put their heart into, and be proud of who they are at every stage of their journey. She treats whoever she works with like their goals as her own. She loves what she does and is here to help everyone achieve their goals.

Katie Behrens Katie Behrens has been in the fitness industry in one way or another for the last 23 years. Growing up she was a classically trained ballet dancer. She has taught different variations of dance for over 24 years. In 2016 she attained her group fitness certification the following year she became a certified health coach as well as a certified sports nutrition expert. She now owns Behrens Wellness LLC. Which specializes in online health coaching and helping people create healthy habits that last a lifetime. In July 2019 she received her personal training certification through NASM. Although her personal training experience may appear short, she has been coaching individuals on their form both in the dance studio and in the gym for over 24 years. Katie understands the mechanics of the body and loves to help individuals meet and exceed their fitness and wellness goals..

Tracey Carr Tracey has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. Her current passion is to educate and motivate others to be the best they can be. Tracey believes in functional fitness and has had the experience with people of all ages. Tracey’s experience in the industry brings variety and a new taste for each workout. With dozens of certifications she brings years of knowledge and experience to every session or class she teaches. Her upbeat personality and attention to detail will ensure you achieve all your fitness goals. Tracey is an educator and mentor, and a proud mother of three.

Tracey Zegiel Tracey has a love of distance running and through her running has discovered a passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. It’s her goal as a Personal Trainer to assist you in achieving your goals through safe, fun, and effective workouts, no matter what fitness level you are at. She also strives to help you take the discipline and creativity that you learn from your time together and apply it to your everyday lifestyle. Tracey earned her certification with World Instructor Training School and also has a level 1 coaching certification with USATF.

Personal Training Evaluation All members are encouraged to consult with our personal trainer to have their current fitness level evaluated. The test measures flexibility, muscular, and cardiovascular endurance and body composition. The results of the evaluation are used to create a program designed to meet the individual’s specific goals and needs. This program provides information about repetitions, which machines to use, time, frequency, duration, and intensity of your cardiovascular program. Flex Pass is offered every 5 weeks with a guaranteed total of 30 offerings per week during various times, Monday through Sunday. The Flex Pass allows you to take any class on the group exercise schedule. Please refer to the group exercise schedule at warrenvilleparks.org or at any desk at the Warrenville Park District to see our class offerings. (Days and times of classes are subject to change based on attendance and instructor availability. There will always be a minimum of 30 offerings a week offered at any given time during a year. A class is considered a fitness offering on the group exercise schedule that is at least 30 minutes.)

ANYTHING GOES

GENTLE STRENGTH

Challenge yourself and take it to the next level with a class that lets you experience something new each week. The instructor will get the heart pumping with exciting routines that may include strength training, cardio and a variety of equipment.

A chair-based class designed to build strength and cardio vascular fitness for active adults and light impact.

BARRE The ballet barre is your best friend during this class full of micro and isometric strength movements. Using light weights and lots of reps this class will target muscles you forgot you had!

BOOT CAMP The only thing we can promise about Boot Camp is that it will get you sweating! Be ready for different styles of cardio and strength training intended to work your entire body.

CARDIO KICKBOXING Workout your frustrations in this high-intensity, mixed-impact workout that burns fat and relieves stress while giving you a great sense of self-confidence. Jab, cross, hook, upper cut, kick, block and more in this dynamic, heart-pumping workout.

CIRCUIT CORE Amp up your routine with strength based circuit style class. Incorporating both strength and core workouts this workout will expose you to body weight exercises, TRX, weighted exercises, and more.

COMPLETE CARDIO Looking to get your heart pumping but hate the treadmill? Complete Cardio has you covered! A mixture of dance, agility and sports-styled moves will help you hit the fat-burning aerobic zone.

CYCLE Love the calorie burning benefits of cardio but don’t have a lot of time? Come take a ride during this 30-minute class sure to get you sweating while working the legs and core.

FABUCORE Want stronger ab and back muscles? A class designed to strengthen and tone all of your ab muscles. The class is fun, educational, and full of practical advice on maintaining a strong core and posture throughout the day. A variety of ab, posture, and yoga work will be included.

FUNCTIONAL STRETCHING A class dedicated to stretching that mimics our everyday movements and exercises. Lengthen and strengthen your muscles to help you move outside of the fitness center.

GENTLE CARDIO This low impact cardio class mixes a variety of movements. This class involves the following: cardio, dance, strength, coordination, core, and balance.

GENTLE STRETCH Yoga poses and stretches in a chair-based class designed to increase flexibility and range of motion for active adults and light impact.

GENTLE YOGA Work through various stretches while strengthening with weights and utilizing the ballet barre. This class is targeted for people aged 50+ but all are welcome!

GUNS & ABS Join us for upper-body sculpting and toning along with core strengthening. We keep things fresh by utilizing techniques including circuits, mat work, and free weights set to an invigorating soundtrack.

HATHA YOGA For the new and experienced students who want to connect to the key elements of Yoga practice. Introducing the fundamentals of Yoga with a focus on breathing and alignment. One will be guided through Yoga postures to build strength, stamina and flexibility.

KETTLEBELL/TRX® Ramp up your workout with this combination class. Improve your strength, mobility, and balance in this calorie burning class.

STRICTLY STRENGTH Do you want to shape your body and develop strength, endurance and lean muscle? Discover the benefits of strength training. Not only does it have the potential to increase lean muscle and metabolism, it may help improve balance, flexibility, mobility and stability.

TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING Low impact aerobics combined with strength training and resistance exercises using hand weighs, Xertubing, and stability balls, work all the major muscle groups targeting the cardiovascular and muscular systems. Top it off with a cool down incorporating flexibility.

YOGA Come to Yoga class and learn how to stretch, tone and strengthen your body by doing specific poses and using the Hatha Breathing Method. Beginners to advanced students are welcome as you will work at your own pace to help improve balance and flexibility, increase strength and reduce stress.

ZUMBA® Have you ever wanted exercise to be more fun? Then Zumba is for you! Zumba is an aerobic workout based on Latin dance moves with dynamic, exciting music. WARRENVILLE MUNICIPAL VAN PROGRAM Effective Nov. 1, 2019

ACORN (Access City Operated Rides Now) Warrenville’s Accessible Van Service for Senior & Disabled Citizens Warrenville offers a municipal transportation program called ACORN for its special needs residents. The Acorn Van transports disabled and senior residents (over 60) from their homes to any destination within a 5-mile radius of City Hall (28W701 Stafford Place,) including medical facilities, shopping centers, entertainment venues, and friends’ homes. The van operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00A to 4:00P, with the first pick up at 8:30A and the last pick up at 3:30P (no holidays). A charge of $3 per one-way and/or round trip within Warrenville applies. The fee is $3 per one-way trip outside of Warrenville. Applications for ridership are available at City Hall. Question or complaints should be directed to Lead Van Driver, at 630.393.1223 #7. • The van has seating for five passengers, the driver and one wheelchair (lift equipped). • Rides by appointment only (curb-to-curb service); 24-hour advanced reservation required; call 630.393.1223, hit option #1 to make a reservation. To register, please call 630.393.9427. • Rider restrictions include Warrenville residents age 18 and older with an RTA disability card or anyone 60 and older. • Must have RTA card. (Applications for RTA cards may be picked up at Warrenville’s City Hall). The process will take 2-3 wks.

• Riders must purchase a 10-ride ticket at City Hall, which will be punched each time they ride the van. Ride DuPage Transportation Program In an ongoing effort to evaluate the services offered to our residents 65 and older, and residents with disabilities, the City launched a one-year pilot program with Ride DuPage on April 25, 2019. Ride DuPage offers transportation services to seniors and individuals with disabilities, age 16 and over. The City's A.C.O.R.N. van program will continue to operate during this time. The purpose of running both programs simultaneously is to gather data that will assist the City in determining the appropriate level of service and cost-effectiveness of the programs. The WAA is a not-for-profit organization comprised of up to a 12-member all-volunteer board and is an affiliate of the Warrenville Park District. The WAA’s mission is to provide high quality youth baseball programs to Warrenville and surrounding communities. Emphasis at all levels is placed on sportsmanship, team spirit, and baseball fundamentals. It is the belief of the WAA that baseball programs serve our community by creating a place for our children to have fun, become more physically fit, learn good sportsmanship, and learn basic concepts of teamwork -- including tolerance of others -- and recognition of different skill levels. Some of our major activities throughout the year include the preseason banquet, season opener, All-Star games and the annual 4th of July Cerny Series. We also fund travel team tournaments, capital improvements, and general field maintenance via our procurement and management of Hotel/Motel Funds from the City of Warrenville.

Program Refund Policy

Behavior Management/Code of Conduct

A refund will be considered for the following reasons: 1. All refund requests must be received 24 hours prior to the first class. You will receive your choice of a refund or household credit if the program is canceled by the Warrenville Park District. 2. All refunds applied for are subject to a 10% or $5 minimum service charge. 3. No refunds will be given after class begins without a doctor’s certificate. Fees will be prorated starting with the day the Refund Application is received in the Park District Registration Office. The amount of the refund will be credited to your household balance and may be used to register for other programs. 4. Check refunds are approved at the Warrenville Park District board meetings held on the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise designated. Deadline for submission is the 30th of each month.

All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make all of our programs, events, and affiliate programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

Errors and Adjustments While we at the Warrenville Park District try to be accurate in the information presented in our brochure, some unavoidable errors or changes to the programs, fees, schedules, and other information may occur. The Park District apologizes for any inconvenience resulting from these necessary adjustments.

Park District Risk Management Association In 1993, the Warrenville Park District became a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA). As a loss prevention measure, that group has asked its members to require program participants to execute a release form. The Waiver, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is part of the registration form. Please read the form carefully, sign it and submit it when you register for any particular program. At the time of registration or at the first program session, you may be presented with a sheet describing some of the particular risk involved in that particular activity for which you have registered. If so, that additional material will become a part of the Waiver. Release and Hold Harmless Agreement. We want the registrants in our programs to be aware in advance that, when they participate in certain activities, there is a natural element of risk of injury which each participant must assume. We do not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. The costs of that type of personal health insurance would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage. The use of this form is one of our answers to the national liability insurance crisis, allowing us to continue to offer quality programs to the public at a reasonable cost. The Warrenville Park District expects all individuals to conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with their levels of development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities with a proper regard for rights and welfare of other individuals, staff, volunteers, and district officials.

Discipline A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. Staff will periodically review rules with participants during the program session. If inappropriate behavior occurs, a prompt resolutions will be sought specific to each individual’s situation. Warrenville Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant, parent or sibling, or affiliate whose behavior endangers his or her own safety or the safety of others.

SPORTS FIELD STATUS The Park District’s programs, special events, games or practices may be canceled due to severe weather. Waiver Required For insurance purposes, participation in Warrenville Park District programs and activities requires a signed waiver. Please sign the waiver section of the registration form. By applying to participate in these recreation programs, each resident/non-resident realizes the inherent risks involved in the program and appreciates the nature of these risks. The applicant holds the park district harmless for any damage caused by participation in these programs. The park district provides no medical insurance. Your fax or online signature will be considered your original signature.

Medical Information Please provide us with any medical information about the participant when you register. If you or your child have any medical allergies, special needs, or anything we need to know to make your experience safe and pleasant, please provide us with your complete information at time of registration. Medical forms may be required for some programs or classes.

Non-Resident Fee Policy The Warrenville Park District resident via property taxes contributes to the operation of the park district. A copy of a map showing the park district boundaries is available for review at the Park District Recreation Center. Non-residents of the Warrenville Park District will be required to pay an additional fee per program. This is a flat rate per program and will be added onto the regular program fee at time of registration. Active Older Adult Programs and Trips do not have a non-resident fee charge. Programs offered on Community Unit School District #200 property are available to residents of the respective school district at resident rates.

Equal Access No participant shall, on the basis of race, sex, creed, national origin or disability, be denied equal access to programs, activities, services or benefits, or be limited in the exercise of any right, privilege, advantage or opportunity. Photography Guidelines Periodically, photographs and videos are taken of participants during programs, special events, trips or at the parks. These photographs may be used for park district publications and/or newspapers. Please note that we do not identify the people in the photographs. Patrons may be asked to sign a photo release form in certain instances.
