Table of Contents

Community is defined as a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. We here at the Warrenville Park District enjoy being a part of this close-knit community of 13,200 residents. It is great to see familiar faces in our parks, at our events and in our programs. We are always striving to improve the quality of life for our residents and build upon the relationships we create within our community. It all begins with the staff and volunteers that keep our buildings clean, parks pristine and creating opportunities to make new friends, learn a new skill all while providing a safe environment. We are here to help build the citizens of tomorrow in our community and create platforms for the best recreational and leisure services around.

As we enter into the Winter and Spring seasons at the Park District, we have a wide variety of programming opportunities and events for the family to come out and be part of the Warrenville community. On December 7th come over to the Park District as the Mayor and Santa welcome in the Holiday Season at Holly Days, or attend one of our other popular holiday events such as Breakfast with Santa, or build candy cottages. Make sure to mark on your calendar our very popular Daddy/ Daughter Dance, February 8th or Mother/Son Dance, March 8th. Those two events have become extremely popular so don’t miss out!

Don’t let the cold and winter get you down, stop by the Recreation Center and try out FitnessNOW. We have very affordable membership rates along with some great group exercise classes, and knowledgeable personal trainers. If nothing else it is a great place to get out of the cold and walk around the track to make sure you are getting in your required amount of steps. Make sure to keep up with your New Year’s resolution this year at the Warrenville Park District.

Valencia Rollins

Valencia has over 15 years of experience training clients from all walks of life. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, certified as a Holistic Life Coach and lectures for the World Instructor Training School to certify future personal trainers. With both high school and collegiate level playing basketball experience, she has the credential to train and coach players to take their skills to the next level. It is her purpose to utilize her education, background and experience as an athlete, personal trainer and life coach to educate and empower people to achieve balance, harmony and positive change in his/her life.

I’ve been using the Park District’s personal training program, weekly, for over 5 years now. My overall fitness and strength has increased so much, that typical yard and gardening chores no longer feel like chores! I feel in better shape now, in my 60’s, than I did ten years ago. Thank you for providing such affordable fitness programs. - Deb L

Daphne Briggs

Daphne graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science and is currently a Certified Personal Trainer through ACE. Being active is very important to her and she's been involved in many team sports including basketball, softball, volleyball, and kickball. Currently, she enjoys playing a variety of sports with her three children, as well as, biking, and softball.

She's open and honest with her clients about what they need to do to accomplish their goals, while making it fun and challenging. She is in the process of becoming a Fitness Nutrition Specialist.

Tracey Carr

Tracey has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. Her current passion is to educate and motivate others to be the best they can be. Tracey believes in functional fitness and has had the experience with people of all ages. Tracey’s experience in the industry brings variety and a new taste for each workout. With dozens of certifications she brings years of knowledge and experience to every session or class she teaches.

Her upbeat personality and attention to detail will ensure you achieve all your fitness goals. Tracey is an educator and mentor, and a proud mother of three.

Personal Training Evaluation

Personal or partner trainings are designed to meet specific needs of each individual who chooses this path to fitness and total well being. One of our certified personal trainers designs and conducts safe, effective, and highly motivating exercise sessions. Participants must be at least 12 years old.

All members are encouraged to consult with our personal trainer to have their current fitness level evaluated. The test measures flexibility, muscular, and cardiovascular endurance and body composition. The results of the evaluation are used to create a program designed to meet the individual’s specific goals and needs. This program provides information about repetitions, which machines to use, time, frequency, duration, and intensity of your cardiovascular program. Periodic evaluations are recommended to monitor your progress. Sign up today with a personal trainer for your fitness evaluation. 60 minutes.

Flex Pass is offered every 5 weeks with a guaranteed total of 30 offerings per week during various times, Monday through Sunday. The Flex Pass allows you to take any class on the group exercise schedule. Please refer to the group exercise schedule at warrenvilleparks.org or at any desk at the Warrenville Park District to see our class offerings.

(Days and times of classes are subject to change based on attendance and instructor availability. There will always be a minimum of 30 offerings a week offered at any given time during a year. A class is considered a fitness offering on the group exercise schedule that is at least 30 minutes.)

Total Body Conditioning Ages 16+ Total Body Conditioning incorporates a variety of cardiovascular and muscle conditioning exercises. This volunteer-coached program introduces the fundamentals of playing soccer through weekly practices and a six game schedule that emphasizes proper technique, knowledge of rules, participation, sportsmanship, and fun.

Players will be contacted by their coach after they have been assigned to a team. Practices will be held 1-2 times a week beginning the week of April 1st. WARRENVILLE MUNICIPAL VAN PROGRAM Effective Jan. 1, 2013

ACORN (Access City Operated Rides Now) Warrenville’s Accessible Van Service for Senior & Disabled Citizens Warrenville offers a municipal transportation program called ACORN for its special needs residents. The Acorn Van transports disabled and senior residents (over 60) from their homes to any destination within a 5-mile radius of City Hall (28W701 Stafford Place,) including medical facilities, shopping centers, entertainment venues, and friends’ homes. The van operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00A to 4:00P, with the first pick up at 8:30A and the last pick up at 3:30P (no holidays). A charge of $3 per one-way and/or round trip within Warrenville applies. The fee is $3 per one-way trip outside of Warrenville. Applications for ridership are available at City Hall.

• The van has seating for five passengers, the driver and one wheelchair (lift equipped).

WARRENVILLE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Baseball Season Is All Year!

The WAA is a not-for-profit organization comprised of up to a 12-member all-volunteer board and is an affiliate of the Warrenville Park District. The WAA’s mission is to provide high quality youth baseball programs to Warrenville and surrounding communities. Emphasis at all levels is placed on sportsmanship, team spirit, and baseball fundamentals. It is the belief of the WAA that baseball programs serve our community by creating a place for our children to have fun, become more physically fit, learn good sportsmanship, and learn basic concepts of teamwork -- including tolerance of others -- and recognition of different skill levels.

Some of our major activities throughout the year include the preseason banquet, season opener, All-Star games and the annual 4th of July Cerny Series. We also fund travel team tournaments, capital improvements, and general field maintenance via our procurement and management of Hotel/Motel Funds from the City of Warrenville.

Games are played throughout the week and continue until June. Playoffs for Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony leagues end the first week of July.

Program Refund Policy

Behavior Management/Code of Conduct

A refund will be considered for the following reasons: 1. All refund requests must be received 24 hours prior to the first class.

You will receive your choice of a refund or household credit if the program is canceled by the Warrenville Park District.

2. All refunds applied for are subject to a 10% or $5 minimum service charge.

3. No refunds will be given after class begins without a doctor’s certificate.

Fees will be prorated starting with the day the Refund Application is received in the Park District Registration Office. The amount of the refund will be credited to your household balance and may be used to register for other programs.

4. Check refunds are approved at the Warrenville Park District board meetings held on the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise designated. Deadline for submission is the 30th of each month.

All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make all of our programs, events, and affiliate programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

Trip Refund Policy Applicants need to complete a Trip Refund Form at least 24 hours in advance.

Applicants may only receive a refund if they find a replacement person to occupy their place on a trip or if the Warrenville Park District has not paid trip expenses.

Service charges will apply. In cases of sickness or emergency, participants will need to leave a message at 630.393.7279 x307, prior to trip departure with their name, telephone number, trip name, and reason for canceling.

Errors and Adjustments While we at the Warrenville Park District try to be accurate in the information presented in our brochure, some unavoidable errors or changes to the programs, fees, schedules, and other information may occur. The Park District apologizes for any inconvenience resulting from these necessary adjustments.

Park District Risk Management Association In 1993, the Warrenville Park District became a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA). As a loss prevention measure, that group has asked its members to require program participants to execute a release form. The Waiver, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is part of the registration form.

Please read the form carefully, sign it and submit it when you register for any particular program. At the time of registration or at the first program session, you may be presented with a sheet describing some of the particular risk involved in that particular activity for which you have registered. If so, that additional material will become a part of the Waiver. Release and Hold Harmless Agreement.

We want the registrants in our programs to be aware in advance that, when they participate in certain activities, there is a natural element of risk of injury which each participant must assume. We do not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. The costs of that type of personal health insurance would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage. The use of this form is one of our answers to the national liability insurance crisis, allowing us to continue to offer quality programs to the public at a reasonable cost. Warrenville Park District insists that all participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups comply with a basic behavior code. All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups shall: 1. Show respect to all participants, staff, and volunteers.

2. Follow all program/event rules and take direction from staff.

3. Refrain from using abusive or foul language.

4. Refrain from threatening or causing bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff.

5. Refrain from harassment of any kind to other participants or staff.

6. Refrain from any type of bullying.

7. Refrain from any type of aggressive and violent behavior during park district or affiliate sponsored programs.

8. Show respect for equipment, supplies, and facilities.

9. Not possess any weapons.

The Warrenville Park District expects all individuals to conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with their levels of development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities with a proper regard for rights and welfare of other individuals, staff, volunteers, and district officials.

Discipline A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. Staff will periodically review rules with participants during the program session. If inappropriate behavior occurs, a prompt resolutions will be sought specific to each individual’s situation. Warrenville Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant, parent or sibling, or affiliate whose behavior endangers his or her own safety or the safety of others.

SPORTS FIELD STATUS The Park District’s programs, special events, games or practices may be canceled due to severe weather.

By applying to participate in these recreation programs, each resident/non-resident realizes the inherent risks involved in the program and appreciates the nature of these risks. The applicant holds the park district harmless for any damage caused by participation in these programs. The park district provides no medical insurance. Medical Information Please provide us with any medical information about the participant when you register. If you or your child have any medical allergies, special needs, or anything we need to know to make your experience safe and pleasant, please provide us with your complete information at time of registration.

Medical forms may be required for some programs or classes.

Non-Resident Fee Policy The Warrenville Park District resident via property taxes contributes to the operation of the park district. A copy of a map showing the park district boundaries is available for review at the Park District Recreation Center.

Non-residents of the Warrenville Park District will be required to pay an additional fee per program. This is a flat rate per program and will be added onto the regular program fee at time of registration. Active Older Adult Programs and Trips do not have a non-resident fee charge.

Programs offered on Community Unit School District #200 property are available to residents of the respective school district at resident rates.

Equal Access No participant shall, on the basis of race, sex, creed, national origin or disability, be denied equal access to programs, activities, services or benefits, or be limited in the exercise of any right, privilege, advantage or opportunity. Photography Guidelines Periodically, photographs and videos are taken of participants during programs, special events, trips or at the parks.
