The Warrenville Park District Executive Director's Message We are extremely lucky and fortunate to have a community that is so involved and committed to the Warrenville Park District. In 2016 we had 191 volunteers that helped us in a variety of roles including coaching sports teams, dance recitals, senior lunches, and special events. As we look forward to this Summer, I would encourage you to consider being involved in one of our community special events. On July 4th we will be holding our annual Firecracker 5K Run/Walk. Each year this event brings in between 400-500 participants. If you are not already participating we are always looking for road marshals, water table helpers, or volunteers to help check in participants. Also, on August 4th and 5th, SummerDaze will return to Warrenville. We are very excited for this year’s lineup including 7th Heaven who will be our headliner band on Friday night, and Hillbilly Rockstarz on Saturday night. The full lineup is included in the middle section of the brochure including additional afternoon entertainment on Saturday afternoon. New this year will be a Mariachi band and children’s entertainer. Also, after taking a year off Warrenville’s Got Talent will be featured on the main stage Saturday afternoon. Please consider signing up and showcasing the talents that we have right here in Warrenville. Last year we had 85 volunteers that helped make this event a huge success. Whether it is helping out in the beer tent or at the information tent, there are plenty of opportunities to help out. Each year I am impressed with the turnout and the fun that is had by everyone. Membership Information

Birth certificates are required for those 12 to 18 years old when applying for membership. Proof of residency is required for all memberships. Members 12-14 years old must be accompanied by an adult member 18 years of age or older when using the fitness center, gym, or track.

Permanent Lockers

For just $1 a week, permanent half lockers are available to members for overnight storage of exercise apparel on a yearly basis. Half Lockers: $52/year

ANNUAL TRACK MEMBERSHIP FEATURES: Walk, run, or jog any day of the year! The track is an elevated 3-lane walking/jogging track that overlooks the gymnasium and has large windows to view the outdoors! This is a great opportunity for parents to get some exercise while watching their child participate in a program held in the gym. There are 17 laps per mile. Shirts must be worn at all times, and clean, dry gym shoes are required. No street shoes, please.

Tracey has a love of distance running and through her running has discovered a passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. It’s her goal as a Personal Trainer to assist you in achieving your goals through safe, fun, and effective workouts, no matter what fitness level you are at. She also strives to help you take the discipline and creativity that you learn from your time together and apply it to your everyday lifestyle. Tracey earned her certification with World Instructor Training School and also has a level 1 coaching certification with USATF.

Valencia has over 15 years of experience training clients from all walks of life. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, certified as a Holistic Life Coach and lectures for the World Instructor Training School to certify future personal trainers. With both high school and collegiate level playing basketball experience, she has the credential to train and coach players to take their skills to the next level. It is her purpose to utilize her education, background and experience as an athlete, personal trainer and life coach to educate and empower people to achieve balance, harmony and positive change in his/her life.

Briana Misener Briana’s passion for fitness started through her own successful personal weight loss and strength training experience. An ACE certified Personal Trainer, Briana understands how challenging yet important it is to find time to take care of yourself. Briana enjoys motivating people to invest time in themselves and reach their goals by providing client-focused workouts in a friendly and genuinely caring atmosphere. She believes in educating her clients and working with them to create new lifelong healthy habits. In addition to personal training sessions, Briana enjoys teaching small group functional training and boot camp classes.

Fitness Evaluation Service

Personal or partner trainings are designed to meet specific needs of each individual who chooses this path to fitness and total well being. One of our certified personal trainers designs and conducts safe, effective, and highly motivating exercise sessions. Participants must be at least 12 years old. All members are encouraged to consult with our personal trainer to have their current fitness level evaluated. The test measures flexibility, muscular, and cardiovascular endurance and body composition. The results of the evaluation are used to create a program designed to meet the individual’s specific goals and needs. This program provides information about repetitions, which machines to use, time, frequency, duration, and intensity of your cardiovascular program. Periodic evaluations are recommended to monitor your progress. Sign up today with a personal trainer for your fitness evaluation.

Cycling provides a fun and challenging cardiovascular workout for all ages and fitness levels. This non-impact, individually paced cardio class definitely moves you! Experience a 45-minute ride of hills, sprints, and endurance intervals with energizing music and motivational instruction to get powerful results. Water bottle and a towel are highly recommended. This cycle class integrates the most effective training method to improve your body’s metabolism: high intensity interval training, or HIIT. We use the scientific principles of work and recovery in the proper ratio to produce an effective weight loss workout. PLUS, as a bonus, we finish with full body functional strength and flexibility body weight only sessions. We use a series of body flow moves that not only challenge your body, but your brain, too. Group Fitness Flex Pass Information

Flex Pass is offered every 5 weeks with a guaranteed total of 30 offerings per week during various times, Monday through Sunday. The Flex Pass allows you to take any class on the group exercise schedule, except for Spin, TRX, and Battle Ropes. Please refer to the group exercise schedule at warrenvilleparks.org or at any desk at the Warrenville Park District to see our class offerings. (Days and times of classes are subject to change based on attendance and instructor availability. There will always be a minimum of 30 offerings a week offered at any given time during a year. A class is considered a fitness offering on the group exercise schedule that is at least 30 minutes.)

Fitness Boot Camp Ages 16+ This 45-minute intense bootcamp-style class gets your blood pumping and tests your strength and endurance. A variety of strength and cardio is challenging for all levels of fitness. The class consists of a 5-minute warm up, 35 minutes of cardio and strength, and a 5-minute cool down and stretch. Introduction of kettle bells and TRX are a part of some of the circuit-style workouts. Boot Camp is sure to never be boring! To sign up for this class please refer to the Flex Pass. POUND® Ages 16+ Step Interval Ages 16+ Using the Step platform, this motivating class begins with an aerobic warm-up and progresses into more intense aerobic conditioning that keeps you working in your target zone. Tang Soo Do Ages 7+ Students will be instructed in the techniques of Tang Soo Do, a system of unarmed self defense with an emphasis on safety and an understanding of the art as well as the development of physical skills. This class offers children a solid introduction to the properties of electricity and electric charges. Children discover an electric charge's basic properties, learn to distinguish between static electricity and electrical current, and explore the science behind these phenomena. Hands-on activities provide a tactile lesson in charging and discharging objects with static electricity. Children will be able to relate a newfound understanding of lightning and static-electric “shocks” that may have previously been confusing or even “frightening” to their daily lives. Let’s make Mom a fused glass pendant that she will always remember! Pendants will be completed using precut pieces of glass in a wide variety of colors and finishes so no experience is necessary. Glass fusing, glass cutting, and characteristics of glass will all be covered in this creative weekend workshop geared towards budding artists. The Science of Glass Camp Ages 8+ This camp is a great opportunity for creative kids to try glass as a medium. Students will learn the basics of glass fusing and the scientific principles related to how that happens. Each day will host different glass process explorations and projects that will be fired in our kilns. Students will make fused glass mosaics and sand glass art drawings among other projects. The last half hour of class on day two will be the class “Gallery Opening” where friends and family can join in viewing the student’s fantastic finished pieces. Soccer Made In America Camp Ages 4-17

The Soccer Made In America Training Camp offers professional soccer training covering technical and tactical training for 5 consecutive 1/2 day sessions. This camp is designed to teach players proper technical skills while enjoying playing soccer. Players are divided into groups or ten or less according to ability first, and age second. Beginning players will be introduced to fundamental techniques and apply them in games. Intermediate players who have mastered basic techniques will be challenged to higher-level competition. Participants must bring their own soccer ball. Shinguards and a water bottle are recommended. Each participant receives a camp t-shirt, certificate of achievement, participation in contests, and awards given to winners on "Awards Day" Friday. WARRENVILLE MUNICIPAL VAN PROGRAM Effective Jan. 1, 2013

ACORN (Access City Operated Rides Now) Warrenville’s Accessible Van Service for Senior & Disabled Citizens Warrenville offers a municipal transportation program called ACORN for its special needs residents. The Acorn Van transports disabled and senior residents (over 60) from their homes to any destination within a 5-mile radius of City Hall (28W701 Stafford Place,) including medical facilities, shopping centers, entertainment venues, and friends’ homes. The van operates Monday through Friday, from 8:00A to 4:00P, with the first pick up at 8:30A and the last pick up at 3:30P (no holidays). A charge of $3 per one-way and/or round trip within Warrenville applies. The fee is $3 per one-way trip outside of Warrenville. Applications for ridership are available at City Hall. Question or complaints should be directed to Lead Van Driver, Larry Brenner, at 630.393.1223 #7 or lbrenner@warrenville.il.us. • The van has seating for five passengers, the driver and one wheelchair (lift equipped). • Rides by appointment only (door-to-door service); 24-hour advanced reservation/registration required; call 630.393.1223, hit option #1 to make a reservation. To register, please call 630.393.9427. • Rider restrictions include Warrenville residents age 18 and older with an RTA disability card or anyone 60 and older. • Must have RTA card. (Applications for RTA cards may be picked up at Warrenville’s City Hall). The process will take 2-3 wks.

WARRENVILLE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Baseball Season Is All Year!

The WAA is a not-for-profit organization comprised of up to a 12-member all-volunteer board and is an affiliate of the Warrenville Park District. The WAAâ€™s mission is to provide high quality youth baseball programs to Warrenville and surrounding communities. Emphasis at all levels is placed on sportsmanship, team spirit, and baseball fundamentals. It is the belief of the WAA that baseball programs serve our community by creating a place for our children to have fun, become more physically fit, learn good sportsmanship, and learn basic concepts of teamwork -- including tolerance of others -- and recognition of different skill levels. Some of our major activities throughout the year include the preseason banquet, season opener, All-Star games and the annual 4th of July Cerny Series. We also fund travel team tournaments, capital improvements, and general field maintenance via our procurement and management of Hotel/Motel Funds from the City of Warrenville.

Games are played throughout the week and continue until June. Playoffs for Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony leagues end the first week of July. You can volunteer your time for special events that support our program; please contact the WAA at volunteer@waasports.com. Registration begins January 1st; leagues fill up fast so get in early to ensure your spot. General Info Program Refund Policy

Behavior Management/Code of Conduct

A refund will be considered for the following reasons: 1. All refund requests must be received 24 hours prior to the first class. You will receive your choice of a refund or household credit if the program is canceled by the Warrenville Park District. 2. All refunds applied for are subject to a 10% or $5 minimum service charge. 3. No refunds will be given after class begins without a doctor’s certificate. Fees will be prorated starting with the day the Refund Application is received in the Park District Registration Office. The amount of the refund will be credited to your household balance and may be used to register for other programs. 4. Check refunds are approved at the Warrenville Park District board meetings held on the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise designated. Deadline for submission is the 30th of each month.

All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make all of our programs, events, and affiliate programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

Trip Refund Policy Applicants need to complete a Trip Refund Form at least 24 hours in advance. Applicants may only receive a refund if they find a replacement person to occupy their place on a trip or if the Warrenville Park District has not paid trip expenses. Service charges will apply. In cases of sickness or emergency, participants will need to leave a message at 630.393.7279 x307, prior to trip departure with their name, telephone number, trip name, and reason for canceling.

Errors and Adjustments While we at the Warrenville Park District try to be accurate in the information presented in our brochure, some unavoidable errors or changes to the programs, fees, schedules, and other information may occur. The Park District apologizes for any inconvenience resulting from these necessary adjustments.

Park District Risk Management Association In 1993, the Warrenville Park District became a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA). As a loss prevention measure, that group has asked its members to require program participants to execute a release form. The Waiver, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is part of the registration form. Please read the form carefully, sign it and submit it when you register for any particular program. At the time of registration or at the first program session, you may be presented with a sheet describing some of the particular risk involved in that particular activity for which you have registered. If so, that additional material will become a part of the Waiver. Release and Hold Harmless Agreement. We want the registrants in our programs to be aware in advance that, when they participate in certain activities, there is a natural element of risk of injury which each participant must assume. We do not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. The costs of that type of personal health insurance would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage. The use of this form is one of our answers to the national liability insurance crisis, allowing us to continue to offer quality programs to the public at a reasonable cost. Warrenville Park District insists that all participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups comply with a basic behavior code. All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups shall: 1. Show respect to all participants, staff, and volunteers. 2. Follow all program/event rules and take direction from staff. 3. Refrain from using abusive or foul language. 4. Refrain from threatening or causing bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff. 5. Refrain from harassment of any kind to other participants or staff. 6. Refrain from any type of bullying. 7. Refrain from any type of aggressive and violent behavior during park district or affiliate sponsored programs. 8. Show respect for equipment, supplies, and facilities. 9. Not possess any weapons. The Warrenville Park District expects all individuals to conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with their levels of development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities with a proper regard for rights and welfare of other individuals, staff, volunteers, and district officials.

Discipline A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. Staff will periodically review rules with participants during the program session. If inappropriate behavior occurs, a prompt resolutions will be sought specific to each individual’s situation. Warrenville Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant, parent or sibling, or affiliate whose behavior endangers his or her own safety or the safety of others.

SPORTS FIELD STATUS The Park District’s programs, special events, games or practices may be canceled due to severe weather. • Registrations are processed at the Park District Recreation Center at 3 S 260 Warren Avenue.

• Registration is required 7 days prior to start of class to avoid cancellation of program unless otherwise noted.

• Your check is your receipt. If you wish a class confirmation, please include a self addressed stamped envelope.

• There is a $25 service fee for checks returned for insufficient funds or credit card declines. • When registering in person by credit card, the card holder must be present for signature.

Registration Waiver Required For insurance purposes, participation in Warrenville Park District programs and activities requires a signed waiver. Please sign the waiver section of the registration form. By applying to participate in these recreation programs, each resident/non-resident realizes the inherent risks involved in the program and appreciates the nature of these risks. The applicant holds the park district harmless for any damage caused by participation in these programs. The park district provides no medical insurance. Your fax or online signature will be considered your original signature.

Medical Information Please provide us with any medical information about the participant when you register. If you or your child have any medical allergies, special needs, or anything we need to know to make your experience safe and pleasant, please provide us with your complete information at time of registration. Medical forms may be required for some programs or classes.

Non-Resident Fee Policy The Warrenville Park District resident via property taxes contributes to the operation of the park district. A copy of a map showing the park district boundaries is available for review at the Park District Recreation Center. Non-residents of the Warrenville Park District will be required to pay an additional fee per program. This is a flat rate per program and will be added onto the regular program fee at time of registration. Active Older Adult Programs and Trips do not have a non-resident fee charge. Programs offered on Community Unit School District #200 property are available to residents of the respective school district at resident rates.

Equal Access No participant shall, on the basis of race, sex, creed, national origin or disability, be denied equal access to programs, activities, services or benefits, or be limited in the exercise of any right, privilege, advantage or opportunity. Photography Guidelines Periodically, photographs and videos are taken of participants during programs, special events, trips or at the parks. These photographs may be used for park district publications and/or newspapers. Please note that we do not identify the people in the photographs.
