The Warrenville Park District Executive Director's Message
As the summer begins to wind down, and fall quickly approaches, there is always something exciting going on at the Warrenville Park District. This fall we will hold the second annual Youth Adventure Race for kids ages 6-14 at Summerlakes Park on Saturday, October 7th at 3pm. Last year we had a tremendous turnout where kids were challenged by tasks such as climbing, crawling, and crossing creeks. We look forward to an even bigger turnout this year with new challenges and obstacles. If you didn’t attend last year make sure you put it on your calendar right away. It is a must attend event! We also have and exciting project taking place at Summerlakes Park. We are in the process of putting in a new scenic overlook replacing the old one that was in desperate need of replacement. While you are out walking around the pathway, you will be able to sit down and look out over the wetlands and enjoy the view. Adam Dagley, who provides nature based programming and works in our parks department, along with the Conservation District, and volunteers have been working very hard the past couple of years trying to limit the invasive species and bringing back more native plants. This area will not only provide a great overlook of the area, but will also include a walkway down to the wetlands where kids can get in and explore. We are very excited to get that project started and completed by the fall. There are also a number of events taking place this fall including Art on The Prairie which will be held up in the City Hall parking lot the weekend of September 16-17th. It is always a great time to stop up and see some local artists and enjoy some music. Also Fall Fest will be held on October 27th at the Recreation Center. We will have games, food, music and fun for the entire family. Take some time to flip thru the program guide and see everything we have to offer. As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, on how the Park District can better serve you, please feel free to contact me directly. I wish you a fun and health fall with friends, families, and the Warrenville Park District.

Million Dollar Quartet Ages 21+ There was no plan for Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins to record together on December 4, 1956, but as fate would have it, they did and left behind a historic and mind-blowing album. Million dollar Quartet tells the story, with all the raw energy and monumental talent you've come to expect from these music giants. It all begins in the Sun Record recording studio in Memphis, Tennessee. Up and comer Jerry Lee Lewis is recording songs with rockabilly King Carl Perkins when already iconic Elvis Presley stops by the studio with his girlfriend. The not-quite-yet-a-guitar-god Johnny Cash is there to pay a visit to music manager Sam Phillips. Throw them all together and you have one of the most unexpected, unprecedented and unforgettable musical moments in history. Nominated for three Tony Awards, including Best Musical and a win for Best Supporting Actor, Million Dollar Quartet features some of the biggest and best songs of all time, including " Peace in the Valley," "Blue Suede Shoes," "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line," "Hound Dog" and "Great Balls of Fire." This is the show that ran in Chicago from 2008-2016 and spanned more than 2,500 performances which makes it the third longest running show in Chicago theatre history. . Critics called it "the most exuberant theatrical event," "dazzling from first beat to last" and "the best live rock 'n' roll show I have ever seen." Be there. Scrooge, the Comedy Ages 18+
This wacky, zany, audience participation comedy is a must see for your holiday entertainment plans. Many families consider it a Christmas tradition and return year after year. The story line is based on a loosely adapted version of Charles Dickens timeless classic, "A Christmas Carole." The Pines has taken this well known drama and turned it into a side-splitting comedy for all ages. Trip includes lunch, transportation and show. RB
Cabaret Ages 15+
The sound of the orchestra tuning its instruments fills the air. The smell of liquor and perfume permeates your nostrils, causing a shiver of sinful delight. You catch a dancer's eye and wonder what she's doing after the show. After all, life is a cabaret, and anything goes. It's the early 1930's in Berlin, and life is changing. On the horizon is an ugly and dangerous threat, but that's no concern for sensational cabaret singer Sally Bowles whose only goal in life is to have a good time. Sally soon finds herself living with a young writer visiting from America to work on a new novel. While their relationship moves beyond just being friends, around them the lives of citizens go from ordinary to a nightmare. Will Sally recognize her own selfishness, or will she look to the ground as the Nazis steamroll over everything she holds dear? Cabaret is one of the most well-known Broadway musicals of all time, and it's because of the extraordinary songs, universal appeal and spellbinding story that still holds true in today's world. Nominated for a total of 26 Tony Awards over three decades and winning a total of 12 including Best Musical and Best Revival of a Musical, Cabaret is exactly what musical theatre should be: entertaining, enlightening, provocative, edgy and a continuing reflection of our own lives. This groundbreaking musical was unlike anything audiences had ever seen back when it first premiered, and you'll feel the same way when it hits the Paramount stage. Fee includes transportation and theater ticket. Lunch is on your own at Harner's Restaurant. RB

Elf Ages 15+
If you've ever felt like you don't belong, just be glad you're not William "Buddy" Hobbes. When he was only a baby, Buddy crawled into Santa's sack of presents and was whisked away to the North Pole where he lived as an elf for years. Buddy grew up thinking he was just like all the others. He took joy in doing elf things, like making toys. But there was always something off about him. He towers over his fellow elves and just doesn't get cobbling. Buddy soon realizes the truth about being...gulp...human and goes in search of his father, a workaholic publisher. Imagine Buddy's horror when he finds out his dad does not share in his love for Christmas. Based on the hilarious 2003 Will Ferrell movie, Elf is one of those rare holiday shows that will have both kids and adults lighting up with laughter, humming tunes like "A Christmas Song" and "Sparklejollytwinklejingley" for days and rediscovering what it means to be a family. And Paramount has become the place that families head to for memorable holiday experiences. From the two-story Christmas tree in the lobby, to the thousands of sparkling lights adorning the banisters, to the carolers filling the air with song, your can't help but get into the spirit the minute you walk through the doors. So this holiday season, join the Paramount family for the perfect feel-good show that will turn even the grumpiest of grinches into a happy-go-lucky bearer of Christmas cheer, singing loud for all to hear. Fee includes transportation and theater ticket. Lunch is on your own at Harner's Restaurant. RB

Additional rules may be developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

Errors and Adjustments
WARRENVILLE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Baseball Season Is All Year!
The WAA is a not-for-profit organization comprised of up to a 12-member all-volunteer board and is an affiliate of the Warrenville Park District. The WAA’s mission is to provide high quality youth baseball programs to Warrenville and surrounding communities. Emphasis at all levels is placed on sportsmanship, team spirit, and baseball fundamentals. It is the belief of the WAA that baseball programs serve our community by creating a place for our children to have fun, become more physically fit, learn good sportsmanship, and learn basic concepts of teamwork -- including tolerance of others -- and recognition of different skill levels. Some of our major activities throughout the year include the preseason banquet, season opener, All-Star games and the annual 4th of July Cerny Series. We also fund travel team tournaments, capital improvements, and general field maintenance via our procurement and management of Hotel/Motel Funds from the City of Warrenville.

While we at the Warrenville Park District try to be accurate in the information presented in our brochure, some unavoidable errors or changes to the programs, fees, schedules, and other information may occur. The Park District apologizes for any inconvenience resulting from these necessary adjustments.
Park District Risk Management Association In 1993, the Warrenville Park District became a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA). As a loss prevention measure, that group has asked its members to require program participants to execute a release form. The Waiver, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is part of the registration form. Please read the form carefully, sign it and submit it when you register for any particular program. At the time of registration or at the first program session, you may be presented with a sheet describing some of the particular risk involved in that particular activity for which you have registered. If so, that additional material will become a part of the Waiver. Release and Hold Harmless Agreement. We want the registrants in our programs to be aware in advance that, when they participate in certain activities, there is a natural element of risk of injury which each participant must assume. We do not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. The costs of that type of personal health insurance would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage. The use of this form is one of our answers to the national liability insurance crisis, allowing us to continue to offer quality programs to the public at a reasonable cost. If you have any questions, please call 630.393.7279.
Warrenville Park District insists that all participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups comply with a basic behavior code. All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups shall: 1. Show respect to all participants, staff, and volunteers. 2. Follow all program/event rules and take direction from staff. 3. Refrain from using abusive or foul language. 4. Refrain from threatening or causing bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff. 5. Refrain from harassment of any kind to other participants or staff. 6. Refrain from any type of bullying. 7. Refrain from any type of aggressive and violent behavior during park district or affiliate sponsored programs. 8. Show respect for equipment, supplies, and facilities. 9. Not possess any weapons. The Warrenville Park District expects all individuals to conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with their levels of development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities with a proper regard for rights and welfare of other individuals, staff, volunteers, and district officials.
Discipline A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. Staff will periodically review rules with participants during the program session. If inappropriate behavior occurs, a prompt resolutions will be sought specific to each individual’s situation. Warrenville Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant, parent or sibling, or affiliate whose behavior endangers his or her own safety or the safety of others.
