Executive Director's Message

The Park District had an extremely busy and successful winter, and we look forward to many exciting things to come this summer. In January, the Warrenville Park District was recognized for some tremendous achievements that occurred over the course of the past year at the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) and Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) conference. Last June, our first ever Multicultural Festival was held in the City Hall Complex. This event was sponsored and supported by the City of Warrenville’s Tourism and Arts Commission (TAC) and showcased a diverse display of music, activities, and food. This all-day festival was extremely well attended and embraced by the community. The Multicultural Festival was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Special Event/Program in the state of Illinois in 2022. Additionally, the Warrenville Park District received an Exceptional Workplace Award which recognizes park districts for going above and beyond to identify and achieve a high level of health and wellness for their employees through staff wellness programs, community involvement, risk management and more.

Our Strategic Master Plan is in its final stretch. The past 10 months have been action packed as we held Key Leader/Stakeholder Interviews, a Public Input Meeting, completed a Needs Assessment Survey, and held Staff Visioning and Board Findings Presentations. I want to thank the community of Warrenville for all your input and feedback to help us understand your wants and needs for recreation. This process has been extensive, including looking at our current inventory, analysis of our program offerings and capital improvement plan, along with looking at the districts mission, vision, and values. Neelay Bhatt from Next Practice Partners and PROS Consulting will be presenting the plan to staff and the Board of Commissioners in April. This information and presentation will also be posted on the project website www.warrenvilleparkplan.com. This plan will set the direction for the district for the next 5-10 years and I am excited to see what the future holds for the District and our community.

Warrenville Park District is committed to providing affordable recreation and fitness services to all residents wanting to participate in our programs. The Warrenville Park District Scholarship Fund was created to provide assistance with reduced fees for residents who otherwise would not be able to participate in these programs due to financial challenges.

Eligibility is limited to residents within the City of Warrenville that meet the scholarship guidelines, provide supporting documentation and complete the application process. Applicants must be able to provide proof of residency, income and guardianship as defined on the scholarship application. Residents who qualify are eligible to receive up to $400 maximum per person per calendar year based on need and availability of funds.

Warrenville Park District Strategic Master Plan

Warrenville Park District is embarking on a journey to create a Strategic Master Plan to shape future parks and recreation needs.

Residents are invited to participate in this process to help the District imagine what future parks, programs, special events, recreation facilities etc. could look like.

Can anyone participate in this project?

Yes, this is a community-input driven process and the outcome and future recommendations will be driven by the needs and vision articulated by community members.

How do I participate in the process?

Through the various section on our Strategic Master Plan Website, www.warrenvilleparkplan.com, you can provide open ended suggestions, respond to the online survey, know the dates for public meetings and even share feedback through social media as well.

What is the project duration?

The project duration is a 9–10 month process and anticipated to be completed in April 2023.

Who is responsible for the Strategic Master Plan?

The Master Plan is led by national consultants PROS Consulting Inc., Next Practice Partners, Kimley Horn and ETC Institute. The principal consultant and project lead is Mr. Neelay Bhatt.

STEM Camp Ages 6-14

Robotics, Engineering, and coding all in one camp! Each day students will work on a STEM activity, including building and programming robots, building mechanical engineering models based on simple machines, and programming animations and games. This is a great way to explore everything. RB

Minecraft Engineering Ages 7-14

Does your child enjoy Minecraft? Imagine if children learn Civil Engineering and City Planning principles while they are in a Minecraft world. Students work as civil engineers and city planners to design and create a structured city that includes roads, bridges, city zones, housing, stores, schools and more. The camp ends with a presentation of the students’ city. Minecraft is used as the tool for hands-on learning. We inspire future Engineers using Minecraft! Elite Chess is excited to offer a 6-week program that will teach the foundational strategies of openings, middle games, and endgames in chess. Now Offering American Kennel Club Puppy S.T.A.R. Program. S=Socialization, T=training, A=activity R=responsible owner. This is a new and exciting program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off on the right paw through basic training and practical skills. This class provides a natural lead into the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizens Program. Copy of upto-date shots record is required. Pups 6 months and older must be spayed or neutered. All pups welcome up to one year old. Pups will take a test for certification on the last class. Successful completion of this class will result in a certificate of completion being rewarded. Kids Beginner Tae Kwon Do Ages 7-13

Getting your child started on the path to health and happiness is all about starting early. The earlier they receive these skills, the more accessible and more impactful the benefits will be in their life. Martial arts classes for kids aged 7-13 years offering a beginner level experience in “”Tae Kwon Do”” specifically focused on building 3 major life skills: Build confidence - we set up systematic obstacles that our students must overcome to build a deep, instinctual understanding that they can overcome anything, building true confidence. Most places just TELL kids to be confident. We BUILD confidence. Build discipline - discipline is a core tenet of martial arts. We help our students develop the tools to always accomplish anything they want and capitalize on whatever passions and goals they have. Build a strong mind and body - not only does martial arts form a strong, healthy body, but also a strong mind. Adult Tae Kwon Do Ages 14+

Martial arts classes for adults 14 years plus offering beginner martial arts, fitness, & self defense training classes. Junior Kids Jiu-Jitsu Ages 3-6

Your child can start Jiu-Jitsu as early as 3 years old! They will develop anti-bully skills, important social skills, learn to listen and focus, gain selfconfidence, discipline and body coordination. If your child is shy and this is the first time your child will be in a group setting, please stay with them to watch an entire class first. This will give your child an opportunity to become familiar and relaxed with their new surroundings and very likely to participate the next time they come in. DW

Kids Jiu-Jitsu Ages 7-12

Get your child involved in learning self-defense, discipline and teamwork! At B1 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu your child will learn a complete self-defense system that will give your child a degree of self-confidence. Furthermore, we teach positive social values such as respect, honesty, humility and dignity. The practice of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is seen as a means to individual development and our kids program emphasizes these important life skills. DW

Adult Jiu-Jitsu Ages 13+

The Fundamental Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program is designed to teach the overall self-defense strategy of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well as ground techniques in a simple and structured manner so that ANYONE can participate, learn, experience and see the results! This will include self-defense, groundwork, wrestling takedowns and Judo throws. During this time, you will gradually build up your endurance, flexibility, core strength, hip movement, selfconfidence and most importantly, your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu skills. DW

TAE KWON DO CLASS INFORMATION

Participants are required to purchase a uniform through Jin Martial Arts Academy for the price of $29.95. All classes are located at the Jin Martial Arts Academy, 738 Butterfield Road, North Aurora.

Participants are required to purchase or rent a uniform through B1 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Fitness which is a separate fee aside from the registration fee. Future Stars Creative Sports Movements Ages 1-3

Using creative playing and nurturing instruction, parents and their children share in the magic of creative sports movements. Introduce your child to basic sports skills such as rolling, balancing, shooting, throwing, and catching. The initial focus is on having fun with exercise and developing coordination and confidence. The Soccer Made In America Training Camp offers professional soccer training covering technical and tactical training for 5 consecutive days of 1/2 day sessions. This camp is designed to teach players proper technical skills while enjoying playing soccer. Players are divided into groups of ten or less according to ability first, and age second. Beginning players will be introduced to fundamental techniques and apply them in games. Intermediate players who have mastered basic techniques will be challenged to higher-level competition. Chicago Union Ultimate Frisbee Camp Ages 7-13

Ultimate is a fast, fun, easy-to-learn field game played with a disc. It is a non-contact sport combining the athleticism of running and agility with the skills of throwing and catching. The Tony Malia Pickleball Classic is in memory of longtime Warrenville Park District Pickleball Instructor, Tony Malia. Participation intended for Pickleball players in the surrounding area to meet and get to know each other through a friendly, non-sanctioned tournament.

Tournament entails:

EARLY BIRD Register by June 1st to receive tournament t-shirt.

$35 resident/ $40 nonresident entry fee is total cost per a team for each division entered for doubles tournament competition.

$20 resident/ $25 nonresident entry fee for singles tournament competition.

Teams will be notified of approximate start time for their division prior to the tournament.

Skill levels are 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0+

Beginner Pickleball Camp Ages 18+

Whether you are looking to improve your game or simply meet other picklers, attending a pickleball camp is a great idea! This camp is specifically designed for the person who has an interest in Pickleball, but either has never played before or needs a refresher course in the basics. Topics covered in this “hands on” camp include: basic rules, scoring, proper positioning, serving, volleying, drills, and gameplay. An end of camp tournament will be held on the final day where a prize will be awarded to the tournament champion. Each participant will receive a camp giveaway. Paddles and balls will be provided. Firecracker 5K & Sparkler 1 Miler All Ages

The Warrenville Park District is hosting the 15th Annual Firecracker 5k Run/Walk on Tuesday, July 4th. The 5K run kicks off at the Warrenville Park District Recreation Center at 8:00am sharp. The scenic course incorporates the Illinois Prairie Path, Warrenville Grove and the streets of downtown Warrenville. The first 300 participants are guaranteed a race t-shirt and goody bag AND NEW THIS YEAR - FINISHER MEDALS! Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each group.

Chair Yoga Ages 15+

Yoga is a mind-body practice that combines physical poses, controlled breathing, and meditation or relaxation. Gentle yoga classes use basic yoga poses in a slow, low-impact way, flowing from pose to pose or staying with one pose for a longer amount of time for a slower paced and gentle practice. Gentle yoga does not necessarily mean that it is an easy class. The intensity may be lower, but the focus and commitment are high. This gentle yoga class moves at a steady pace, slowly cycling though a series of floor based or seated asanas and standing poses to balance strength and steadiness in body and mind. It is appropriate for all levels and ages of practitioners. A gentle yoga practice is a great choice for anyone who is afraid they are not flexible or fit enough to do the yoga poses. NB

This nutrition course will help you explore the newest frontiers in nutrition and learn how to apply nutrition principles to your own food choices. Firmly based on science, this course will help you to understand how important nutrients (carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water) affect our daily health, disease, energy balance, and weight control. You will learn about nutrient requirements during physical activity and develop strategies to implement of everyday eating habits. Daphne graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science and is currently a Certified Personal Trainer through ACE. Being active is very important to her and she's been involved in many team sports including basketball, softball, volleyball, and kickball. Currently, she enjoys playing a variety of sports with her three children, as well as, biking, and softball. She's open and honest with her clients about what they need to do to accomplish their goals, while making it fun and challenging. She is in the process of becoming a Fitness Nutrition Specialist.

Nora Schroedter

Nora has been coaching at the high school and college level for 30+ years and is a founding coach of the Maverick Swim Club. Fitness, coaching and teaching have always been her passion. Nora is currently on a weight loss and fitness journey and along the way has obtained her NASM Personal Training Certification. She understands the daily effort it takes to achieve fitness and weight loss goals. Nora’s focus is to pass on her excitement for fitness and help each client reach their individual goals with the proper knowledge, discipline and encouragement based around a personalized program.

The classes she teaches are Boot Camp, Guns and Abs, and Strictly Strength. Prior to joining the Warrenville Park District, she was employed for 20+ years in the insurance industry in the workers’ compensation arena. Janet received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of WisconsinPlatteville in Physical Education. She enjoys learning and continues to take ongoing classes. She has 5 grandchildren, grew up in the western suburbs, loves to bike, walk, and has run a few marathons and longdistance races over the years. But her favorite job of all time is being a fitness instructor and personal trainer. Janet loves helping people to continue moving and seeking fitness.

Tracey Zegiel

Tracey has a love of distance running and through her running has discovered a passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. It’s her goal as a Personal Trainer to assist you in achieving your goals through safe, fun, and effective workouts, no matter what fitness level you are at. She also strives to help you take the discipline and creativity that you learn from your time together and apply it to your everyday lifestyle. Tracey earned her certification with World Instructor Training School and also has a level 1 coaching certification with USATF.

All members are encouraged to consult with our personal trainers to have their current fitness level evaluated. The test measures flexibility, muscular, and cardiovascular endurance and body composition. The results of the evaluation are used to create a program designed to meet the individual’s specific goals and needs. This program provides information about repetitions, which machines to use, time, frequency, duration, and intensity of your cardiovascular program. ANYTHING GOES

Challenge yourself and take it to the next level with a class that lets you experience something new each week. The instructor will get the heart pumping with exciting routines that may include strength training, cardio and a variety of equipment.

BARRE

The ballet barre is your best friend during this class full of micro and isometric strength movements. Using light weights and lots of reps this class will target muscles you forgot you had!

BOOT CAMP

The only thing we can promise about Boot Camp is that it will get you sweating! Be ready for different styles of cardio and strength training intended to work your entire body.

CYCLING

Love the calorie burning benefits of cardio but don’t have a lot of time? Come take a ride during this 50-minute class sure to get you sweating while working the legs and core.

FABUCORE

This class is designed to strengthen ab and back muscles. The class is fun, educational, and full of practical advice on maintaining a strong core and posture throughout the day. A variety of ab, posture, and yoga work will be included.

FITCYCLE

Jump on in and experience the ride of your life! This cycling class combines intensity and focus as one experiences the burn as well as benefits from various stretching movements. Take your cycling to a higher level and join on in for a unique approach to your fitness.

GENTLE CARDIO DANCE

This low impact cardio class mixes a variety of dance movements. This class involves the following: cardio, dance, strength, coordination, core, and balance.

GUNS & ABS

Join us for upper-body sculpting and toning along with core strengthening. We keep things fresh by utilizing techniques including circuits, mat work, and free weights set to an invigorating soundtrack.

HATHA YOGA

This class introduces the new and experienced students who want to connect to the key elements of Yoga practice. Introducing the fundamentals of Yoga with a focus on breathing and alignment. One will be guided through Yoga postures to build strength, stamina and flexibility.

HIIT

HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training is the BEST way to lose fat and get fit . . . fast! It’s a well-known “secret” with fitness trainers that short bursts of higher intensity exercise WORKS to get RESULTS. The HIIT class combines cardio, strength, core and functional training.

POWER HOUR CARDIO

STRICTLY STRENGTH

TOTAL BODY CONDITIONING

WEIGHTED INTERVAL TRAINING

Fused Glass Plant Stakes by Ed Hoy’s Stained Glass Ages 10+

Talented Anna Kubicka will instruct students in creating 3 fused glass plant stakes using components made from colorful sheet glass, stringers and frit. They are 12” tall and make a delightful addition to indoor plants or outside flowerpots, as well as great Holiday gifts! No prior experience necessary.

Students will learn the basics of working with glass and will have a chance to practice glass cutting; they will make components for their projects and assemble them on the pennant-shaped clear glass base. All materials will be provided, including some pre-made components for students use. Completed projects will be fused and will be available for pickup at a later date. All levels are welcome and all supplies are provided. Ages 10-12 must have a parent with them. RB

Dance with Me Ages 1 1/2-2

Dance with Me is the perfect first class for introducing your little one to classroom learning and socialization. Children who exhibit reaction to music will enjoy expressing themselves by learning rudimentary ballet positions and steps as they develop listening skills, motor skills, balance and co-ordination through creative movement with props like bells, scarves, and flowers, to a fun array of childhood songs and music. This is a parent participation class. RB

Ballerina Babes

This introductory class teaches beginning ballet along with development of listening skills, coordination control and discipline. Creative movements, dancing to musical rhythms is introduced in this fun class. Scarves, flowers and many more accessories add to the fun and creativity of this class. RB

Try It All Combo Class

Dancers will learn steps from ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop. A great class to explore different styles of dance. Tap shoes are NOT required. RB Ages

Ballet Tap

This introductory class for the first time dancer will teach good posture, body awareness, and control as the dancer learns basic ballet positions and movement. Recognizing and demonstrating first, second position, plie, releve, tendu, and bouree turns are featured goals along with saut jumps in first position and echappe (first and second position). Class may be combined with tap or jazz dance to give a taste of other dance styles, while still training strength,

Musical Theater Dance

Children will learn choreography used in musical theater. This dance class will teach steps from ballet, tap, and jazz, with a focus on performing in character. RB

Hip Hop/Jazz

This class is an introduction to the world of hip hop, which has its roots in jazz dance having grown from an energetic street form of jazz. Class will start with warm-ups, stretching, and isolation movement before learning travelling steps and choreography. RB

Ballet Ages 7-14

Dancers will now focus on more detailed movement, practicing moves standing sideways to barre and across the floor. All basic terminology will be reviewed and used as the dancer focuses on presentation of their movement. The dancer will begin to explore various turning skills and more intricate choreography. RB

Tap Ages Ages 8-14

Tap dance takes the basic rhythms, movements, and sounds increasing the speed of the dance. Dancers will learn combinations steps including Maxie Ford, shuffle Off to Buffalo, Time Step, and Waltz Clog. Dancers develop muscular coordination and body awareness through various movements and rhythms. Tap shoes are required. RB.

Lyrical Ages 8-14

Ballet is the basic strength of all dance “techniques”. This class includes barre exercises, center work, stage details and French terminology. Lyrical will be introduced with a technique that produces dancers with a strong technical base, and gives them flexibility and strength. RB

Ballerobica Express Ages 16+

Join Ballerobica for a fun and effective total body workout that mixes ballet with aerobics and resistance training to burn calories and tone the entire body. While most movements are based on ballet steps or positions, they are used in a fitness style. Emphasis is on repetitive movements targeting specific muscle groups, which are then stretched out to minimize the potential for injury. Center work focuses on keeping the core engaged during cardio involving arm and leg exercises. All exercises are adaptable to various abilities. RB Class will not meet on: 7/6

Adult Tap Ages 16+

Come shuffle off to Buffalo with a fun aerobic form of dance to get you on your toes! Class will begin with a warm-up stretch before you begin to articulate those feet and snappy sounds. A Salute to Our Hero’s ~ WWII Musical

Tribute Performers Ages 50+

Join us in a special day that pays tribute to our War Time Heroes. WWII Musical Tribute will pay honor with musical tribute songs of the era featuring favorites such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “Bei Mir Bist Du Schon,” “In the Mood” and “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree. Their costumed and piano-accompanied trio reenact a 1940’s radio hour that is perfect for all ages! While answering musical requests from soldiers and loved ones during wartime, Patti, Maxine and Andrew entertain the “studio audience” with Andrews Sisters-style tunes and choreography, Abbott and Costello comedy sketches, and a touching tribute to Veterans of the United States Armed Forces. A third performer joins Matt and Cynthia in this World War II delight. A lasagna lunch will be served with dessert. No sack lunches please. RB

Wandering Tree Estate Tour Ages 18+ or 6-17 w/Parent

All Aboard train and garden lovers! This exceptional estate features the best of both worlds containing vast gardens and various train layouts. The property has several gardens to explore including quaint English-inspired rose gardens, to a Japanese garden with waterfall. After touring the botanical gardens, patrons can check out the expansive train models. This venue is home to two train layouts. The outdoor layout, known as The Gloree and Triumphant Garden Railway, runs on over 10,000 square feet of land. Durant House Museum

Pickling Party & Tour Ages 18+

In 1837, Bryant Durant moved from Massachusetts to northern Illinois. The prairie farmhouse was constructed just prior to his marriage to Jerusha Shurtleff in 1843. The Durant’s had six children, all of whom were born and raised in the little brick house. Our tour includes a private Pickling Party. The homestead will be filled with aromas of vinegar, spices, and herbs during this program. Visitors will be shown the importance of certain tasks of pickling that allowed foods from spoiling. They will get to ask questions and learn pickling techniques that they can bring home to preserve all their summer produce! This program will be presented in the 1840’s hearth room and in the 1880’s Victorian kitchen. Trip includes transportation, tour, and pickling class. Lunch is on your own at a nearby restaurant. RB

It is with great pride that we share that the Illinois Park and Recreation Association awarded the Warrenville Park District the Overall Winner in for the Outstanding Program and Special Event Award for the Warrenville Multicultural Festival. This award is presented at their annual business meeting during the Illinois Association of Park Districts / Illinois Park and Recreation Association Soaring to New Heights Conference for outstanding and unique achievements in program development and implementation and special event planning. Special thanks to the Board of Commissioners and the City of Warrenville Government for making recreation a priority in Warrenville. This is a coveted statewide award, and the honor is shared with all the members of our staff, our partners, and our community members.

The Warrenville Park District was also recognized with the Exceptional Workplace Award at yesterday’s annual business meeting during the Illinois Association of Park Districts / Illinois Park and Recreation Association Soaring to New Heights Conference. The award consists of detailed and weighted questions pertaining to the District’s operations, support of continuing education, conducting regular safety trainings, team building, and developed wellness policies. The District is now recognized as an Exceptional Workplace for the next 5 years.

Congratulations to Executive Director, Tim Reinbold, on receiving the Chairman’s Award at the Illinois Association of Park Districts / Illinois Park and Recreation Association Soaring to New Heights Conference yesterday. Registration Information

• Registrations are processed at the Park District Recreation Center at 3S260 Warren Avenue.

• Registration is required 7 days prior to start of class to avoid cancellation of program unless otherwise noted.

• Your check is your receipt. If you wish a class confirmation, please include a self addressed stamped envelope.

• There is a $25 service fee for checks returned for insufficient funds or credit card declines.

• When registering in person by credit card, the card holder must be present for signature.

• Registrations are not accepted by an instructor.

• Registration accepted for accounts in good standing.

• Payment is required and will be retained if you wish to be kept on a waiting list. If space does not open up in the program, your payment will be automatically refunded.

Waiver Required

For insurance purposes, participation in Warrenville Park District programs and activities requires a signed waiver. Please sign the waiver section of the registration form. By applying to participate in these recreation programs, each resident/non-resident realizes the inherent risks involved in the program and appreciates the nature of these risks. The applicant holds the park district harmless for any damage caused by participation in these programs. The park district provides no medical insurance. Your fax or online signature will be considered your original signature.

Medical Information

Please provide us with any medical information about the participant when you register. If you or your child have any medical allergies, special needs, or anything we need to know to make your experience safe and pleasant, please provide us with your complete information at time of registration. Medical forms may be required for some programs or classes.

Non-Resident Fee Policy

The Warrenville Park Distric t resident via property taxes contributes to the operation of the park district. A copy of a map showing the park district boundaries is available for review at t he Park District Recreation Center. Non-residents of the Warrenville Park District will be required to pay an additional fee per program. This is a flat rate per program and will be added onto the regular program fee at time of registration. Photography Guidelines

Periodically, photographs and videos are taken of participants during programs, special events, trips or at the parks. These photographs may be used for park district publications and/or newspapers. Please note that we do not identify the people in the photographs. Patrons may be asked to sign a photo release form in certain instances.

General Information

Program Refund Policy

A refund will be considered for the following reasons:

1. All refund requests must be received at least two business days prior to the program start date unless otherwise specified. You will receive your choice of a refund or household credit if the program is cancelled by the Warrenville Park District.

2. All refunds applied for are subject to a 10% or $5 minimum service charge, and if applicable, program fees..

3. No refunds will be given after class begins without a doctor’s certificate. Fees will be prorated starting with the day the Refund Application is received in the Park District Registration Office. The amount of the refund will be credited to your household balance and may be used to register for other programs.

4. Check refunds are approved at the Warrenville Park District board meetings held on the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise designated. Deadline for submission is the 30th of each month.

Trip Refund Policy

Applicants need to complete a Trip Refund Form at least two business days prior to the trip. Applicants may only receive a refund if they find a replacement person to occupy their place on a trip or if the Warrenville Park District has not paid trip expenses. Service charges will apply. In cases of sickness or emergency, participants will need to leave a message at 630.393.7279 x307, prior to trip departure with their name, telephone number, trip name, and reason for canceling.

Errors and Adjustments

While we at the Warrenville Park District try to be accurate in the information presented in our brochure, some unavoidable errors or changes to the programs, fees, schedules, and other information may occur. The Park District apologizes for any inconvenience resulting from these necessary adjustments.

Park District Risk Management Association

In 1993, the Warrenville Park District became a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA). As a loss prevention measure, that group has asked its members to require program participants to execute a release form. The Waiver, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is part of the registration form. Please read the form carefully, sign it and submit it when you register for any particular program. At the time of registration or at the first program session, you may be presented with a sheet describing some of the particular risk involved in that particular activity for which you have registered. If so, that additional material will become a part of the Waiver. Release and Hold Harmless Agreement.

We want the registrants in our programs to be aware in advance that, when they participate in certain activities, there is a natural element of risk of injury which each participant must assume. We do not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. The costs of that type of personal health insurance would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage. The use of this form is one of our answers to the national liability insurance crisis, allowing us to continue to offer quality programs to the public at a reasonable cost. Behavior Management/Code of Conduct

All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make all of our programs, events, and affiliate programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

Warrenville Park District insists that all participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups comply with a basic behavior code. All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups shall:

1. Show respect to all participants, staff, and volunteers.

2. Follow all program/event rules and take direction from staff.

3. Refrain from using abusive or foul language.

4. Refrain from threatening or causing bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff.

5. Refrain from harassment of any kind to other participants or staff.

6. Refrain from any type of bullying.

7. Refrain from any type of aggressive and violent behavior during park district or affiliate sponsored programs.

8. Show respect for equipment, supplies, and facilities.

9. Not possess any weapons.

The Warrenville Park District expects all individuals to conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with their levels of development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities with a proper regard for rights and welfare of other individuals, staff, volunteers, and district officials.

Discipline

A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. Staff will periodically review rules with participants during the program session. If inappropriate behavior occurs, a prompt resolutions will be sought specific to each individual’s situation. Warrenville Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant, parent or sibling, or affiliate whose behavior endangers his or her own safety or the safety of others.

Inclusion Services

Inclusion services are designed to provide the least restrictive environment while providing the maximum opportunity to participate in regular park district programs. There is no charge for Western DuPage Special Recreation Association’s (WDSRA) support. To register for services, simply indicate that special accommodations are needed on the park district registration form. Twoweek advance notice is requested for inclusion support.

Thanks to all who dropped off their Pumpkins for our annual donation to the Pumpkin Smash November 5th. We collected a full truckload of Pumpkins that were taken to be recycled. Holiday Light recycling was also a success with numerous barrels collected.

Youth Baseball League WARRENVILLE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

Baseball Season Is All Year!

The WAA is a not-for-profit organization comprised of up to a 12-member all-volunteer board and is an affiliate of the Warrenville Park District. The WAA’s mission is to provide high quality youth baseball programs to Warrenville and surrounding communities. Emphasis at all levels is placed on sportsmanship, team spirit, and baseball fundamentals. It is the belief of the WAA that baseball programs serve our community by creating a place for our children to have fun, become more physically fit, learn good sportsmanship, and learn basic concepts of teamwork -- including tolerance of others -- and recognition of different skill levels.

Some of our major activities throughout the year include the season opener and league banquet, All-Star games and the annual 4th of July Cerny Series. We also fund travel team tournaments, capital improvements, and general field maintenance via our procurement and management of Hotel Funds from the City of Warrenville.

The league is open to boys and girls between the ages of 5-14. Practices usually begin around April 1 with games starting April 30. Games are played throughout the week and continue until June. Playoffs for Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony leagues end the first week of July. In addition to the spring season, we also offer a "Fall Ball" season. We will be sending out more information on registration for fall ball in the near future.

Ride DuPage Paratransit Program

Warrenville subsidizes the Ride DuPage program for senior (over 60) and disabled residents of Warrenville. The program is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including holidays and weekends and provides transportation services throughout DuPage County. The charge per trip one way is $2.00 plus $1.00 per mile. Warrenville residents may register for the program by contacting City Hall at 630-8363050. Once you register with the City, please allow up to a week before you can begin using the program. Feedback should be directed to PACE Quality Assurance representatives at 800-606-1282.

Rides are by appointment only (curb-to-curb service); 24-hour advanced reservation required; call 1-800-713-7445 (TTY: 1-800-713-7415).

Rider restrictions include Warrenville residents age 16 and older with an RTA card or anyone 60 and older.

Ride DuPage is a cash-only service and the cost per ride oneway is $2.00 plus $1.00 per mile (rounded to the nearest half mile).

The service is available twentyfour hours per day, seven days per week, including weekends and holidays.

Riders can travel anywhere throughout DuPage County, for any reason, including personal visits, shopping trips, medical appointments, or just getting to and from work.

Trips must be scheduled a minimum of 24 hours in advance.
