Executive Director's Message
As part of our strategic master planning process, the Board of Commissioners along with the staff, conducted multiple workshops and brainstorming sessions to help identify the District’s mission, vision, values and big moves as we look forward to the next 5-10 years. This process was led by an outside consulting firm, Pro’s Consulting, and by the project manager, Neelay Bhatt. The Park District values community input, and we collected feedback from the public by conducting online surveys, community meetings, key stakeholder meetings and a conducting statistically valid survey by ETC.
Based on the interactive visioning process with staff and the board and while incorporating community input, demographics and trends, analysis of the District’s offerings and levels of service, the following Mission, Vision and Values were developed: Mission: To Create Community Vision: The “place to be” for exceptional services Values: Exceptional Service, Inclusion, Innovation, and Sustainability
We also identified District-wide outcomes that we aspire to achieve from the plan. These Big Moves are the most significant outcomes desired, and when achieved, will serve as the legacy fulfilling the Plan’s vision.
The following are the 5 Big Moves that were identified through the process:
1. Increased Staffing: Increase staffing district-wide, including mentorship and training programs.
2. Investments in Storytelling: Create engaging narratives around park developments and activities.
3. Land Acquisition: Focus on acquiring and developing additional land/space to expand parks and amenities to meet the community’s needs.
4. Maintenance Enhancements: Invest in the maintenance of facilities and equipment to take care of what we have.
5. Increased Funding: Utilize various mechanisms including a referendum to fund future park development and maintenance.
I would personally like to once again thank the community for embracing this project and providing us with valuable information throughout the entire process. We look forward to becoming the place to be for exceptional experiences in Warrenville.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions on how the Park District can better serve you, please feel free to contact me directly. I wish you a fun and healthy Fall with friends, families and the Warrenville Park District.

Strategic Master Plan #RECreateWarrenville
Warrenville Park District undertook the Strategic Master Plan to serve as a “blueprint” for the District’s staff and Board of Commissioners in preparing them for the future. This is intended to be a dynamic and realistic document, designed to strengthen existing programs, facilities, and amenities while being guided by community values and changing trends.
Plan Goals
The following goals were identified as a key outcome of this planning process:
• Maximize community engagement in an inclusive and innovative manner through innovative public input means to build a shared vision for the District.
• Utilize a wide variety of data sources and recommended practices, including a statistically valid survey to predict trends and patterns of use and to address unmet needs in the District.
• Determine unique Level of Service Standards to develop appropriate actions regarding parks, recreation, facilities, and trails that reflects the Park District’s strong commitment in providing high quality recreational activities and plan to acquire any remaining greenspace for the Warrenville community.
• Shape financial and operational preparedness through innovative and “next” practices to achieve the strategic objectives and future accreditation needs.
• Develop a dynamic and realistic strategic action plan that creates a road map to ensure long-term success and financial sustainability for the Park District’s parks, recreation programs, and trails, as well as action steps to support the family-oriented community and businesses that call Warrenville home.

Students learn programming essentials using MIT’s Scratch coding language using a simple visual interface. A multilevel curriculum starts with children learning the basics of programming. Students program interactive media projects, such as stories, games, and animations. Kids Beginner Tae Kwon Do Ages 7-13
Getting your child started on the path to health and happiness is all about starting early. The earlier they receive these skills, the more accessible and more impactful the benefits will be in their life. Martial arts classes for kids aged 7-13 years offering a beginner level experience in “”Tae Kwon Do”” specifically focused on building 3 major life skills: Build confidence - We set up systematic obstacles that our students must overcome to build a deep, instinctual understanding that they can overcome anything, building true confidence. Most places just TELL kids to be confident. We BUILD confidence. Build discipline - Discipline is a core tenet of martial arts. We help our students develop the tools to always accomplish anything they want and capitalize on whatever passions and goals they have. Build a strong mind and body - Not only does martial arts form a strong, healthy body, but also a strong mind. We help students gain control over their emotions and behavior so that THEY are in control of their lives instead of the other way around. DW Class will not meet on: 11/23

Chair Yoga Ages 15+
Yoga is a mind-body practice that combines physical poses, controlled breathing, and meditation or relaxation. Gentle yoga classes use basic yoga poses in a slow, low-impact way, flowing from pose to pose or staying with one pose for a longer amount of time for a slower paced and gentle practice. Gentle yoga does not necessarily mean that it is an easy class. The intensity may be lower, but the focus and commitment are high. This gentle yoga class moves at a steady pace, slowly cycling though a series of floor based or seated asanas and standing poses to balance strength and steadiness in body and mind. It is appropriate for all levels and ages of practitioners. A gentle yoga practice is a great choice for anyone who is afraid they are not flexible or fit enough to do the yoga poses. NB

Tai Chi for Health Ages 14+
Welcome to Tai Chi for beginners taught by Master Troy Walzak, where his own martial arts career has encompassed both the martial and health aspects of Chinese Martial Arts and he is able to share his knowledge of by offering a class Tai Chi for Health. What is Tai Chi? It is a fitness method that follows the principles of Chinese Medicine, a fitness exercise that is excellent for developing balance, and a fitness method that has been proven to reduce stress. How does it work? By using one of the main principles of Chinese Medicine which is to open the major energy channels of the body, (also called meridians). The treatment using acupuncture is an example of this. The movements of tai chi are designed to open these energy channels as you exercise. This class format is taught to capture Neigong’s (internal strengthening), which is a unique way to develop strength, stamina and focus. Qi Gongs: (breath energy exercises), that is to focus on breath while doing movements designed to open up the body’s energy channels. Poison Hands: (soft elbows) that is a short routine that helps to build strength and dexterity in the wrist, elbows and shoulders. And Simple Tai Chi (Taiji), which is a Tai Chi method of neigong + qi gongs that concentrates its movements on centering. NB

Reasons We Love Fitness Now
FitnessNOW at the Warrenville Park District is by far one of the best communities I have ever belonged to. When you walk through the door you are greeted and treated like family. The staff is extremely friendly and will go out of their way to do anything they can to help you, and answer any questions you may have. Being a member of FitnessNOW gives you a feeling of empowerment and motivation, and I truly believe that each one of the personal trainers wants to see you succeed and achieve your goals. The level of dedication and compassion expressed by the personal trainers and staff is one that I have never seen before from a gym/fitness center. They will motivate you on your hardest days and celebrate with you on your successful ones.
FitnessNOW also has some of the most friendly and accepting patrons that I have ever witnessed in a gym/ fitness center. They are friendly, fun, and willing to share - this is definitely a non-judgemental zone!
I’m proud to be able to call myself a member of the FitnessNOW community and I would STRONGLY recommend them to my friends and family.

Our Commitment to Quality and Service
Total quality management is one of our goals. We strive to provide you with high quality recreation programming, and we take pride in making your experience with the Warrenville Park District an enjoyable one. If you are not completely satisfied with your recreation experience or any service that the park district provides, please contact us to share your concerns and suggestions for improvement. We would also like to hear what you especially like about our programs and services. Please call 630.393.7279 to receive our Customer Feedback Form.
Errors and Adjustments
While we at the Warrenville Park District try to be accurate in the information presented in our brochure, some unavoidable errors or changes to the programs, fees, schedules, and other information may occur. The Park District apologizes for any inconvenience resulting from these necessary adjustments.
Park District Risk Management Association
In 1993, the Warrenville Park District became a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA). As a loss prevention measure, that group has asked its members to require program participants to execute a release form. The Waiver, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is part of the registration form. Please read the form carefully, sign it and submit it when you register for any particular program. At the time of registration or at the first program session, you may be presented with a sheet describing some of the particular risk involved in that particular activity for which you have registered. If so, that additional material will become a part of the Waiver. Release and Hold Harmless Agreement. We want the registrants in our programs to be aware in advance that, when they participate in certain activities, there is a natural element of risk of injury which each participant must assume. We do not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. The costs of that type of personal health insurance would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage. The use of this form is one of our answers to the national liability insurance crisis, allowing us to continue to offer quality programs to the public at a reasonable cost. If you have any questions, please call 630.393.7279.
Behavior Management/Code of Conduct
All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make all of our programs, events, and affiliate programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.
Warrenville Park District insists that all participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups comply with a basic behavior code. All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups shall:
1. Show respect to all participants, staff, and volunteers.
2. Follow all program/event rules and take direction from staff.
3. Refrain from using abusive or foul language.
4. Refrain from threatening or causing bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff.
5. Refrain from harassment of any kind to other participants or staff.
6. Refrain from any type of bullying.
7. Refrain from any type of aggressive and violent behavior during park district or affiliate sponsored programs.
8. Show respect for equipment, supplies, and facilities.
9. Not possess any weapons.
The Warrenville Park District expects all individuals to conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with their levels of development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities with a proper regard for rights and welfare of other individuals, staff, volunteers, and district officials.
Discipline
A positive approach will be used regarding discipline. Staff will periodically review rules with participants during the program session. If inappropriate behavior occurs, a prompt resolutions will be sought specific to each individual’s situation. Warrenville Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant, parent or sibling, or affiliate whose behavior endangers his or her own safety or the safety of others.

Youth Baseball League WARRENVILLE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
Baseball Season Is All Year!
The WAA is a not-for-profit organization comprised of up to a 12-member all-volunteer board and is an affiliate of the Warrenville Park District. The WAA’s mission is to provide high quality youth baseball programs to Warrenville and surrounding communities. Emphasis at all levels is placed on sportsmanship, team spirit, and baseball fundamentals. It is the belief of the WAA that baseball programs serve our community by creating a place for our children to have fun, become more physically fit, learn good sportsmanship, and learn basic concepts of teamwork -- including tolerance of others -- and recognition of different skill levels.
Some of our major activities throughout the year include the season opener and league banquet, All-Star games and the annual 4th of July Cerny Series. We also fund travel team tournaments, capital improvements, and general field maintenance via our procurement and management of Hotel Funds from the City of Warrenville.
The league is open to boys and girls between the ages of 5-14. Practices usually begin around April 1 with games starting April 30. Games are played throughout the week and continue until June. Playoffs for Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony leagues end the first week of July. In addition to the spring season, we also offer a "Fall Ball" season. We will be sending out more information on registration for fall ball in the near future.
You can volunteer your time for special events that support our program; please contact the WAA at volunteer@waasports.com. Leagues fill up fast so get in early to ensure your spot.
