Executive Director's Message As the days become longer, and the weather starts to warm up, that can only mean one thing, summer is on the way. Soon will come warm summer days and nights, summer camps, baseball and softball games, 5K races and outdoor festivals. I for one am certainly looking forward to a return to these activities and events. The past two years have certainly been a struggle to say the least, but I continue to be impressed with how staff have been creative in bringing programming and events to the community in a safe and responsible manner. On behalf of the entire Warrenville Park District Staff and Board of Commissioners we thank you for your continued support of parks and recreation, which has proven to be as important as ever when so many other resources have been hindered or simply unavailable during the pandemic. Looking forward, this summer also brings an exciting time for the Park District as we will begin our strategic master planning process providing us direction and a pathway for the next five years. In order to help guide us in the process of this plan we will be looking to include significant community outreach and we hope you will be part of the process. Focus groups, stakeholder meetings and other public engagement initiatives are going to be solicited to ensure as many voices as possible are heard. We want to gauge the community’s mindset and interests towards expanding, maintaining or reducing services along with park and facility maintenance and improvements including identifying the community’s tolerance for a tax and/or fee increase as we battle increasing costs for labor, materials and supplies. Every resident has a vested interest and a voice in how these dollars are allocated, and the staff and Board of Commissioners encourage anyone that is interested to participate. If you have friends or neighbors that want to have their voices heard, please inform them of this exciting opportunity. We welcome your thoughts and ideas. Please reach out to me directly and I will make sure you are included. As we move forward, we will have information on our website to keep the community updated. DiVERSiTY The Warrenville Park District is looking to offer more diverse opportunities for programs and special events. Help us to develop a greater appreciation of diversity as we plan our recreation programming. If you or someone you know has an idea you would like us to consider, please let us know. Your suggestions and comments will be a valuable resource for evaluating future programming. Please submit programs ideas to Matt Odom, Superintendent of Recreation, at matto@warrenvilleparks.org.

Scholarships Warrenville Park District is committed to providing affordable recreation and fitness services to all residents wanting to participate in our programs. The Warrenville Park District Scholarship Fund was created to provide assistance with reduced fees for residents who otherwise would not be able to participate in these programs due to financial challenges. Eligibility is limited to residents within the City of Warrenville that meet the scholarship guidelines, provide supporting documentation and complete the application process. Applicants must be able to provide proof of residency, income and guardianship as defined on the scholarship application. Residents who qualify are eligible to receive up to $400 maximum per person per calendar year based on need and availability of funds.

CHASEWOOD LEARNING STEM Camp Ages 7-14 Robotics, Engineering, and coding all in one camp! Each day students will work on a STEM activity, including building and programming robots, building mechanical engineering models based on simple machines, and programming animations and games. Robotics & Sumo Bot Ages 7-14 Learn about robotics by designing and programming robots to compete in a SumoBot competition. Kids will learn the physics and concepts of robots through building and programing... controlling motors, reading sensors... that lead to a competition at the end of the camp. An understanding of the engineering process combined with fun competition will provide students a whole were of fun and learning. Students will learn how to problem solve, work in teams and deal with failure, all skills needed in the real world. Minecraft Engineering Camp Ages 7-14 Does your child enjoy Minecraft? Imagine if children learn Civil Engineering and City Planning principles while they are in a Minecraft world. Students work as civil engineers and city planners to design and create a structured city that includes roads, bridges, city zones, housing, stores, schools and more. The camp ends with a presentation of the students’ city. Minecraft is used as the tool for hands-on learning. Lego Robotics Ages 6-14 The LEGO Robotics Academy is a comprehensive, repeatable after school program where children learn to design, build, and program robots. Using a creative educational approach that supports Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), this class is led by teacherled instruction followed by fun, engaging and dynamic activities. Chess Scholars Grades 1-8 Develop your child's intellect through the royal game of chess! Jeff is an International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) Certified Personal Trainer who has been training himself for years to become more physically fit and flexible. He understands that not everyone is in top shape. He meets clients wherever they are in their fitness journey and creates customized workout programs that are safe, effective, and fun.

Nora has been coaching at the high school and college level for 30+ years and is a founding coach of the Maverick Swim Club. Fitness, coaching and teaching have always been her passion. Nora is currently on a weight loss and fitness journey and along the way has obtained her NASM Personal Training Certification. She understands the daily effort it takes to achieve fitness and weight loss goals. Nora’s focus is to pass on her excitement for fitness and help each client reach their individual goals with the proper knowledge, discipline and encouragement based around a personalized program.

Nick Bovio Nick experienced an intense journey of bodybuilding that introduced him to his passion in fitness. Along with learning to master the mental side of working out, he also studied the human anatomy and how it functions for years. It’s his ambition and desire to help you accomplish your goals as a Personal Trainer and Wellness coach. It’s a mission of his to help you reach your fullest potential through his teachings and mentorship. Nick earned a certification from ACE as the tool help facilitate evident-based exercise fundamentals as well as the basic principles of behavior change to your fitness journey.

Daphne Briggs Daphne graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Exercise Science and is currently a Certified Personal Trainer through ACE. Being active is very important to her and she's been involved in many team sports including basketball, softball, volleyball, and kickball. Currently, she enjoys playing a variety of sports with her three children, as well as, biking, and softball. She's open and honest with her clients about what they need to do to accomplish their goals, while making it fun and challenging. She is in the process of becoming a Fitness Nutrition Specialist.

Tracey Zegiel Tracey has a love of distance running and through her running has discovered a passion for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. It’s her goal as a Personal Trainer to assist you in achieving your goals through safe, fun, and effective workouts, no matter what fitness level you are at. She also strives to help you take the discipline and creativity that you learn from your time together and apply it to your everyday lifestyle. Tracey earned her certification with World Instructor Training School and also has a level 1 coaching certification with USATF.

Personal Training Evaluation All members are encouraged to consult with our personal trainer to have their current fitness level evaluated. The test measures flexibility, muscular, and cardiovascular endurance and body composition. The results of the evaluation are used to create a program designed to meet the individual’s specific goals and needs. This program provides information about repetitions, which machines to use, time, frequency, duration, and intensity of your cardiovascular program. The ballet barre is your best friend during this class full of micro and isometric strength movements. Using light weights and lots of reps this class will target muscles you forgot you had!

BODY FIT

Take on this challenging full-body workout to improve your strength, cardiovascular health and overall fitness ability using a variety of equipment and exercises ranging from traditional strength movements to compound cardio conditioning exercises.

Want stronger ab and back muscles? A class designed to strengthen and tone all of your ab muscles. The class is fun, educational, and full of practical advice on maintaining a strong core and posture throughout the day. A variety of ab, posture, and yoga work will be included.

GENTLE CARDIO DANCE

S U M M E R Camp Littles explores a new theme each week. This camp is geared for children that are not quite ready for the all day camp, but still want to be social and explore crafts, songs, and more.

Miss Mary will share new adventures each week. With every theme comes creative movement, music, stories to share and act out. Dramatic play and music, as well as literature, are essential elements of Preschool Curriculum, which are tools for indoor and outdoor environments. Ballet Ages 6-9 Dancers will now focus on more detailed movement, practicing moves standing sideways to barre and across the floor. Ballet Tap This introductory class for the first time dancer will teach good posture, body awareness, and control as the dancer learns basic ballet positions and movement. Ride DuPage Paratransit Program Warrenville subsidizes the Ride DuPage program for senior (over 60) and disabled residents of Warrenville. The program is available 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, including holidays and weekends and provides transportation services throughout DuPage County. The charge per trip one way is $2.00 plus $1.00 per mile. Warrenville residents may register for the program by contacting City Hall at 630-836-3050. Once you register with the City, please allow up to a week before you can begin using the program. Feedback should be directed to PACE Quality Assurance representatives at 800-606-1282.

Baseball Season Is All Year! The WAA is a not-for-profit organization comprised of up to a 12-member all-volunteer board and is an affiliate of the Warrenville Park District. The WAA’s mission is to provide high quality youth baseball programs to Warrenville and surrounding communities. Emphasis at all levels is placed on sportsmanship, team spirit, and baseball fundamentals. It is the belief of the WAA that baseball programs serve our community by creating a place for our children to have fun, become more physically fit, learn good sportsmanship, and learn basic concepts of teamwork -- including tolerance of others -- and recognition of different skill levels. Some of our major activities throughout the year include the season opener and league banquet, All-Star games and the annual 4th of July Cerny Series. We also fund travel team tournaments, capital improvements, and general field maintenance via our procurement and management of Hotel Funds from the City of Warrenville. The league is open to boys and girls between the ages of 5-14. Practices usually begin around April 1 with games starting April 30. Games are played throughout the week and continue until June. Playoffs for Pinto, Mustang, Bronco, and Pony leagues end the first week of July. In addition to the spring season, we also offer a "Fall Ball" season. We will be sending out more information on registration for fall ball in the near future. You can volunteer your time for special events that support our program; please contact the WAA at volunteer@waasports.com. Leagues fill up fast so get in early to ensure your spot.

Registration Waiver Required For insurance purposes, participation in Warrenville Park District programs and activities requires a signed waiver. Please sign the waiver section of the registration form. By applying to participate in these recreation programs, each resident/non-resident realizes the inherent risks involved in the program and appreciates the nature of these risks. The applicant holds the park district harmless for any damage caused by participation in these programs. The park district provides no medical insurance. Registration Information

• Registrations are processed at the Park District Recreation Center at 3S260 Warren Avenue. • Registration is required 7 days prior to start of class to avoid cancellation of program unless otherwise noted.

Please provide us with any medical information about the participant when you register. If you or your child have any medical allergies, special needs, or anything we need to know to make your experience safe and pleasant, please provide us with your complete information at time of registration. Medical forms may be required for some programs or classes.

The Warrenville Park District resident via property taxes contributes to the operation of the park district. A copy of a map showing the park district boundaries is available for review at the Park District Recreation Center. Non-residents of the Warrenville Park District will be required to pay an additional fee per program. This is a flat rate per program and will be added onto the regular program fee at time of registration. Active Older Adult Programs and Trips do not have a non-resident fee charge. Programs offered on Community Unit School District #200 property are available to residents of the respective school district at resident rates.

Equal Access No participant shall, on the basis of race, sex, creed, national origin or disability, be denied equal access to programs, activities, services or benefits, or be limited in the exercise of any right, privilege, advantage or opportunity. Photography Guidelines Periodically, photographs and videos are taken of participants during programs, special events, trips or at the parks. These photographs may be used for park district publications and/or newspapers. Please note that we do not identify the people in the photographs. Patrons may be asked to sign a photo release form in certain instances.

Hosting a Party or a Meeting?

• Your check is your receipt. If you wish a class confirmation, please include a self addressed stamped envelope. • There is a $25 service fee for checks returned for insufficient funds or credit card declines. • When registering in person by credit card, the card holder must be present for signature. • Registrations are not accepted by an instructor. • Registration accepted for accounts in good standing. • Payment is required and will be retained if you wish to be kept on a waiting list. If space does not open up in the program, your payment will be automatically refunded.

WAIVER AND RELEASE Please read this form carefully and be aware that in signing up for and participating in programs/activities, you will be expressly assuming the risk waiving and releasing all claims for injuries you or your children might sustain arising out of these programs. As a participant in these Warrenville Park District programs, I recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury and I agree to assume the full risk of any injuries, including death, damages or loss which I may sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with or associated with such programs. I agree to waive and relinquish all claims I may have as a result of participating in the programs against the Warrenville Park District and its officers, agents, servants and employees. I do hereby fully release and discharge the Warrenville Park District and its officers, agents, servants and employees from any and all claims from injuries, including death, damages and losses which I may have or which may occur to me on account of participation in these programs. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless and defend the Warrenville Park District and its officers, agents, servants and employees from any and all claims resulting from injuries, including death, damages and losses sustained by me or arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with the activities of these programs. In the event of an emergency, I authorize the Warrenville Park District officials to secure from any licensed hospital, physician and/or medical personnel, any treatment deemed necessary for any immediate care and agree that I will be responsible for payment of any and all medical services rendered. I understand that my child/ward or I may be photographed or videotaped while participating in a Warrenville Park District Program or special event. I give my permission for photos and videotapes of my child or myself to be used to promote the Warrenville Park District through brochures, flyers and social media. General Information

S U M M E R Program Refund Policy

Behavior Management/Code of Conduct

A refund will be considered for the following reasons: 1. All refund requests must be received at least 2 business days prior to the program start date unless otherwise specified. You will receive your choice of a refund or household credit if the program is cancelled by the Warrenville Park District. 2. All refunds applied for are subject to a 10% or $5 minimum service charge. 3. No refunds will be given after class begins without a doctor’s certificate. Fees will be prorated starting with the day the Refund Application is received in the Park District Registration Office. The amount of the refund will be credited to your household balance and may be used to register for other programs. 4. Check refunds are approved at the Warrenville Park District board meetings held on the third Thursday of each month, unless otherwise designated. Deadline for submission is the 30th of each month.

All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make all of our programs, events, and affiliate programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

Trip Refund Policy

Warrenville Park District insists that all participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups comply with a basic behavior code. All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups shall: 1. Show respect to all participants, staff, and volunteers. 2. Follow all program/event rules and take direction from staff. 3. Refrain from using abusive or foul language. 4. Refrain from threatening or causing bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff.

5. Refrain from harassment of any kind to other participants or staff. Applicants need to complete a Trip Refund Form at least 24 hours in advance. 6. Refrain from any type of bullying. Applicants may only receive a refund if they find a replacement person to occupy their place on a trip or if the Warrenville Park District has not paid 7. Refrain from any type of aggressive and violent behavior during park trip expenses. Service charges will apply. Park District Risk Management Association In 1993, the Warrenville Park District became a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA). As a loss prevention measure, that group has asked its members to require program participants to execute a release form. The Waiver, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is part of the registration form. Please read the form carefully, sign it and submit it when you register for any particular program. At the time of registration or at the first program session, you may be presented with a sheet describing some of the particular risk involved in that particular activity for which you have registered. If so, that additional material will become a part of the Waiver. Release and Hold Harmless Agreement. We want the registrants in our programs to be aware in advance that, when they participate in certain activities, there is a natural element of risk of injury which each participant must assume. We do not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. The costs of that type of personal health insurance would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage. The use of this form is one of our answers to the national liability insurance crisis, allowing us to continue to offer quality programs to the public at a reasonable cost.
