It Works!
A Note From Bob -
Helping kids become adults.
Boys to men!
The best part of what we do here at Sheridan House is to help each of these kids take responsibility for their lives and their behavior. Recently a school administrator said “Kids who go through the program at Sheridan House know how to work.” Matthew is a shining example of a Sheridan House graduate who has taken his life to the next level and became a United States Marine. As one boy said, “Sheridan House helped me go from a kid who just wanted to quit school to a man who wants to raise a godly family”. That graduate is a police officer today! For those of you who help with your donation, we want you to know It Works! We have the privilege of helping each child know that Jesus has a plan for their life and then we instill the discipline to help them follow that plan. Thank you for helping us help raise tomorrow’s leaders.

His internal turmoil was all too typical of a young man struggling to come into manhood without his father. When Matthew came to Sheridan House his struggles were extending into school; both academically and socially. Although he had a compliant demeanor he would regularly make choices that exposed the anger and discontent that was in his heart. (Continued)

“I do everything to the best of my abilities. I do it for God”, says Matthew.
His leadership skills only improved as he went into high school, graduated, and joined the Marine Corps. Matthew is presently stationed in Hawaii and is still leading his peers and serving his God every day.

However as he went through the program he consistently showed a desire and ability to improve in every aspect of his life. As his identity began to change from a fatherless boy into a young man who belonged to his Heavenly Father, he began to replace negative habits with positive ones. He was also beginning to implement the life lessons he was learning at Sheridan House into his family life and social life. Before graduating from the program, Matthew was not only a great big brother at home; he was also a great leader to his peers in residence at Sheridan House.

Even after entering the residential program he was once suspended from school, for writing a vulgar and derogatory statement to a teacher on his desk.
