A Note From Bob -
Thousands God has graciously allowed me to be at Sheridan House for over forty years, and I have seen literally thousands of young lives turned around. Imagine kids who were destined to quit school because they were finding no success whatsoever. Then God places them at Sheridan House and while they are here, He changes their lives. These kids go from probable dropouts to leaders! While having lunch at an outdoor restaurant in North Carolina, a man in his forties walked up to our table and said, “You’re Bob Barnes, right?” After I answered his question, he went on to tell me his name and then he said, “I was a boy at Sheridan House in the late seventies and my life was changed. I came to know God at Sheridan House and I went back to school.” I then asked Jack what he was doing today. “After finishing my education,” he began, “I moved up here and started a development company. I built this office building you’re eating in.” The amazing story of a life changed goes on. Then it’s multiplied by literally thousands of additional lives who have been helped by the Sheridan House children’s homes and counseling centers. Jack moved from a destined dropout to a life-making difference for Christ. It works, and through Christ, it’s been working for over forty-five years. For 46 years, Sheridan House has been providing Answers for Today’s Families. People are introduced to our ministry as referrals from local area churches, through participating in Sheridan House seminars on marriage or raising children, the Broward County School System and by individuals already acquainted with our ministry. We offer a residential program for middle-schooled aged children with behavioral issues, a single parent ministry, two counseling centers, Parenting on Purpose which offers parenting seminars, curriculum, a daily radio broadcast, podcast and blog, all to help parents. Sheridan House is committed to offering services which give children and families the opportunity to reach their full, God given, potential. The Sheridan House Residential Program is designed to intervene in the life of a family before dysfunctional behavior becomes a habitual lifestyle. Our chief objective is to provide a caring environment in which the children develop essential life skills, accept responsibility for their behavior at home and school, and enter back into their home with parents fully educated and equipped to care for them.

that only 11% of the children in our residential program come from a two parent household? A large percentage of the children enter our program from single parent homes.
Did You Know...
that the Broward County school system is our biggest source of referrals? Most of the children who enter the program are usually the “problem” kids in class. These are the students who are disruptive and have poor academic performance. After spending some time in our residential program, the teachers begin to notice a behavioral change and these children go from being disruptive in class to being the leaders and helpers in the classroom.
Did You Know... we see incredible changes in GPA’s with our children because they learn how behave in class? For example, Billy increased his GPA from a 0.8 to a 2.83 in just one marking period. Joshua took his GPA from a 0.2 to a 3.17 during his 7th grade year. In the past two years, the average GPA for a child participating in the program at Sheridan House increased 43%.

that 100% of the parents w h o s e children are in our program report a drop in disruptive behavior at home and/or in school since being enrolled in our program?
