FAMILY IS THE KEY! The focus of Sheridan House is to come alongside families during their time of need and to help them get to the place God has created for them. The story of Sandra and her son is a perfect example of what Sheridan House does. Sandra’s life was drastically changed when she began to regularly attend training classes and ministry events provided through Sheridan House. She then began to apply what she learned to her life. Now she is in a position to encourage other single moms. There are literally thousands of single moms like Sandra who have been helped through the ministries of Sheridan House. Family is the key to properly train the next generation of godly leaders, and is also key to nurture the next generation to know and serve Christ. If the key to turning this culture around is family, doesn’t it make sense for each of us, like Sandra, to help open doors for the next family that needs help? What if each family said, “I want to open doors for families in need. I want to be a part of the solution. I want to be a key rather than a lock. I want to help!” Family is the key and we can each be a part of helping our culture by helping families in need. Please consider giving monthly to help more awesome women like Sandra.

TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION: Legacy Giving (or “Planned Giving”) is about making a lasting impact for God’s Kingdom. It doesn’t have to be something you give after you are gone…you can witness it and show your children and your grandchildren, “This is what our family does.” Putting your name on a building project or on the future of a ministry is not about lifting you up. It’s about training the next generation.

CHANGING THE NEXT GENERATION: Monthly Giving is about putting in place the tools to raise tomorrow’s leaders. That’s what we do at Sheridan House when we work with the whole family. Donors who make monthly donations allow us to provide residential care to teenage boys with behavioral and emotional issues. When a child graduates from our residential program they are no longer followers – but leaders in their classrooms who are now making good choices. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.” There are two paths and, with your help, it’s our privilege to point children and families in the right direction. Sheridan House often becomes a pivot point that not only changes the direction of the lives of the children and families we work with, but the lives of their children and their children’s children. When you support Sheridan House as a monthly donor you are changing the next generation – for Christ’s sake.

A story of hope and confidence in Christ Jesus. This is a story of hope and confidence in Christ Jesus. It’s about Sandra who came to America as a young single mom with her 5 year old son and her mother. She had to work very long hours to support her family and through all her struggles and heartaches, chose to trust the Lord to provide for her needs. In 2009 Sandra was invited to a Sheridan House event. Since then she’s been involved in our Single Parent Ministry attending our training classes and ministry events. Sandra and her son Sandra recalls how our boutique provided all clothes she had, since she could not afford to buy them for herself. Sandra applied what she learned at Sheridan House to grow closer to the Lord, and to bring her son up in the instruction of God’s principles.

Working and studying hard, Sandra became a realtor and was finally able to buy her own home. What’s more, she was able to minister and encourage other single moms in our program. During the past six years, Sandra applied what she learned at Sheridan House to grow closer to the Lord and to bring her son up in the instruction of God’s principles. Filled with joy, she recently came to let us know the Lord has blessed her with a godly, loving husband. And through tears of thankfulness, Sandra expressed that Sandra with her father and son the best gift she received at her wedding from Sheridan House was not material, but much greater. The best gift was being able to experience the love of God in action which she describes as “A sweet embrace from her Maker.”
