Isaac is an Exciting Sheridan House God Story.
He came to live at Sheridan House when he was thirteen and stayed for fourteen months. During that time he learned what he needed to do to change his life. He also learned that God loves him and has a great plan for his future.
I’ve been blessed that God in his grace and providence has provided me with the life that I have today.
The problem for Isaac was that he had drummed into his own head that he hated school. He did what he needed to do to finish the Sheridan House program and went home to live with his mom. As soon as he was old enough, he quit school and that was the last we heard of a kid with so much potential to do great things. But that wasn’t the end of the story for Isaac. A decade-and-a-half later, Isaac came to visit Sheridan House and told his amazing story. When he handed us his calling card from a major university, it had the letters PhD after his name. We were so shocked we went online and checked to make sure it was true.
We had to ask Isaac what happened and he responded, “When I got out of Sheridan House I was still angry. Then I woke up. I learned two very important lessons at Sheridan House. I learned the discipline to work hard and I learned that God loves me and has a plan for my life. With that discipline I went back to school and got my GED. Then I went to Broward College. From there I went to Florida State and got my masters and then my PhD. As you can see, today I’m a college professor.” Today Isaac is teaching at a Division One University, active in his church and more importantly married with three children. God had a plan for Isaac and he discovered it at Sheridan House. It Works!
